Last year, Rupert Grint called out 'Harry Potter' author JK Rowling for her comments towards the transgender community. Now, Grint revealed why he spoke out on Rowling’s harsh comment.

During an interview with Esquire, the 32-year-old actor said, ''I am hugely grateful for everything that she’s done. I think that she’s extremely talented, and I mean, clearly, her works are genius,” he first says. “But yeah, I think also you can have huge respect for someone and still disagree with things like that.”

On why he spoke out, Rupert added, ''Sometimes silence is even louder, I felt like I had to because I think it was important to. I mean, I don’t want to talk about all that…Generally, I’m not an authority on the subject,”. “Just out of kindness, and just respecting people. I think it’s a valuable group that I think needs standing up for,” he said.

The 54-year-old author faced backlash last year after posting a series of tweets that were described as “anti-trans”, Rowling wrote last year, "If sex isn`t real, there`s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn`t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It doesn`t hate to speak the truth."

Responding to which, Grint, who played Ron Weasley in the 'Harry Potter' films, wrote."I firmly stand with the trans community and echo the sentiments expressed by many of my peers. Trans women are women. Trans men are men. We should all be entitled to live with love and without judgment."

After making his return as the Joker in Zack Snyder's 'Justice League', Hollywood star Jared Leto recently spoke to Stephen Colbert about taking on the "incredible" role once again.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, while appearing on `The Late Show`, Leto expressed how grateful he was to be a part of Snyder`s `Justice League` and referred to the 'Snyder Cut' as "one for the ages." The movie will mark Leto`s first comeback as the fan favourite Joker after portraying the classic DC villain in 2016`s 'Suicide Squad'.

Colbert was quick to mention how it is discussed that Leto's 'Justice League' appearance could mark a "redemption" to "expand the character". But Leto reiterated that he simply felt honoured to be asked by Snyder to step into the iconic villain`s shoes again. Leto said, "I was just happy to be a part of his dream and to get asked to play the Joker for a second time was just a treat. It is one of those roles that is just incredible."

During his appearance on Colbert`s show, Leto could be seen wearing a "We Live in a Society" shirt. He said profits from sales of the shirt will go to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, as a homage to a popular Joker-related meme and a line he ad-libbed in a now-infamous `Justice League` scene that appeared in a new trailer for Snyder`s Justice League. The clip of Leto reciting the line went viral on social media and left many fans thrilled.

In order to further compare Leto`s original Joker portrayal to the new film, Colbert held photographs of the actor posing in the character`s then-green hair with skin covered in tattoos in Suicide Squad to the darker and more frightening Joker in 'Justice League'.

Reacting to both photographs, Leto explained that it shows "there is some years apart" between the two. Leto said, "I think it is an evolution. It is common when working with a different director that they bring out different things in you."

Earlier in the day, Leto took to Twitter and honoured Snyder ahead of the film`s release. "Zack, you are a warrior and a madman. You know this world like nobody else and it was incredible to be a part of retelling this story in the way that you always dreamed of," he wrote alongside a photo of himself on set with the director.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Ben Affleck, who reprises his role as Batman in `Justice League`, and Leto ended up shooting their scenes separately due to scheduling issues, with the scene completed over three days late last year.

In the interview with Oprah, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that Kate made her cry at the time of her wedding to Harry.

A source close to the royal family revealed to People Magazine that Prince William is looking out for his wife, and growing more protective of her after this accusation." William is very protective of Kate and can get very angry. For Meghan to name Kate in a negative light is worse than being attacked himself," the source close to Prince William told People magazine.

After the interview, the royals and the staff members were filled with "anger", disclosed the source. Making further revelations, the insider also told that the Duke of Cambridge is feeling "fiercely protective over his wife" and "he`s unhappy with Markle`s mention of Middleton".However, after mentioning Kate, the duo refused to name further royal family members regarding a discussion that took place between Harry and other members about the `concerns` over the Prince`s then-unborn son Archie`s skin tone.

The Studio is also said to be developing a 'Dunk & Egg' series based on George R.R. Deadline first reported the news of the new spinoffs latter THR confirmed.

The new projects are tentatively titled '9 Voyages', '10,000 Ships', and 'Flea Bottom'. Here is all the detail of the project:
9 Voyages: Rome creator Bruno Heller is developing the series and follows the great voyages at sea made by Lord Corlys Velaryon a.k.a. The Sea Snake, the Lord of the Tides, and head of House Velaryon. The show will take us to his journey at various places including Pentos, Dragonstone, and around the bottom of Westeros as well as to Lys, Tyrosh, and Myr
The character also appears in the upcoming greenlit GoT prequel 'House of the Dragon'.

10,000 Ships: The next project will take us tells the story of Princess Nymeria and the surviving Rhoynars who travelled from Essos to Dorne after losing in battle to the Valyrian Freehold in the Second Spice War. Her story is set roughly 1,000 years before the events in Game of Thrones, making it much older on the Westeros timeline, as per the Hollywood Reporter. In GOT, Arya Starks's character named her dire wolf Nymeria.

Flea Bottom: The series will take place in Flea Bottom to which every GOT fan is aware of, a slum in King’s Landing, the capital of Westeros.
Last month, HBO and HBO Max Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys told Deadline about the various areas to develop, ''We are talking about other areas that make sense as well. George R.R. There is a lot of opportunities and stories to tell.”

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is moving from October 2021 to April of 2022, two industry sources with information of the circumstances told Variety.

It is expected that the country-music themed Stagecoach festival, which happens at the end of the week after Coachella`s two weekends, will move as well. The move, if it is officially confirmed, denotes the fourth time the dates for Coachella, which takes place over two weekends at the Empire Polo Ground in Indio, California, have been rescheduled. The fest was first delayed from April to October 2020, then to April 2021, and afterwards October.

However, the October dates were not authoritatively affirmed by promoters. For several months, there have been no dates posted on the festival`s official website.

As per Variety, the sources said the justification for the most recent delay is ongoing uncertainty over the COVID-19 pandemic, even though many promoters and live-entertainment companies are planning for at least a partial resumption of touring in the late summer and fall. However, Coachella consistently sells out its 125,000 everyday tickets promptly, and the sheer logistics of in excess of 100,000 individuals making a trip to and gathering at a solitary area create endless opportunities for illness transmission.

While the October dates are as yet seven months away, arrangements for the festival would start soon, and without follow up on typical visits -- the Weeknd`s `After Hours` tour is the primary significant one on the books, and it`s planned to start next January -- the challenges of putting together an event on the scale of Coachella is much more daunting. As per Variety, the pandemic`s impact on the live-entertainment business has been devastating.

The live events industry lost more than USD 30 billion in 2020 because of the worldwide pandemic, including USD 9.7 billion in the cinema world, as indicated by the year-end report by live-entertainment industry trade publication Pollstar.

Harry Potter star Katie Leung is recalling her dark past.

Katie who is known for playing Cho Chang in the hit 'Harry Potter' franchise, opened up about experiencing racist attacks for the fantasy series.

In a new interview on the Chinese Chippy Girl podcast, the 33-year-old actress shared that she had suffered racist bullying as soon as news of her casting was announced.

"I was, like, googling myself at one point, and I was on this website, which was kind of dedicated to the kind of Harry Potter fandom," Leung recalled. "I remember reading all the comments. And yeah, it was a lot of racists---."

“And then somebody had actually created a website, a hate site — it was like, if you disagree with this casting, then click on this button and then it would just be like a count of how many people disagreed with the casting and you would just see a number… I know, it’s awful. It’s so awful.” said Leung, who was only 16-years-old at the time.

She played the love interest to Daniel Radcliffe's character and first appeared in the 2005 movie 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire'.
Leung, who was born in Scotland and is of Chinese descent, recalled the time when she was very young and was without any media training, said back then publicists told her to deny that the racist attacks were happening.
“I remember them saying to me, ‘Oh, look Katie, we haven’t seen these, these websites that people are talking about. And you know, if you get asked that, just say it’s not true.
The sequel is set to start filming in the fall as long as it does not face any delays due to COVID-19, Hargrave confirmed earlier.

As the ongoing COVID pandemic continues to halt and challenge the planning of big events, Cannes film festival is planning for a pre-festival event, months before the physical event.

The Cannes Film Festival Marche section, which traditionally runs alongside the festival, is reportedly asking the organisers to set up a three-to-four day “pre-screenings” event in May or June, looking at the industry demand. The event is a major market for the industry.

"We're just evaluating this option, talking with the sellers and distributors. No decision yet," Jerome Paillard, executive director of Cannes Marché du Film, told THR in an email on Tuesday.

The pre-festival event will be virtual, with no traditional physical market on offer. This year's event was postponed from May 11 to 22 to July 6 to 17. As July is a late date for agents and producers, an earlier event will lead them to sell early enough to allow for summer shoots and, for finished films, to premiere movies in the key summer months.

Last year, Cannes was cancelled due to the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic and was replaced by a low-key event in October showcasing short films but without the presence of A-list movie stars, directors and producers. Still, there is uncertainty on the July dates due to the continuing COVID-19 crisis.

In a rather distasteful episode, a German radio host equated popular Korean pop band BTS to coronavirus. The radio host has now apologised for outrage over the statement on the internet.

It so happened that the radio host was talking of BTS’ cover of Coldplay’s ‘Fix You’ that they performed in the much-talked-about MTV Unplugged episode that recently aired. They first called the cover of BTS “blasphemy” before calling the BTS “some crappy virus that hopefully there will be a vaccine for soon as well."

In this case, he overshot the mark in his choice of words in an attempt to present his opinion in an ironically exaggerated manner and with exaggeratedly feigned excitement, and thus hurt the feelings of the BTS fans," the station said.

Following even more criticism for their statement, Bayern 3 issued another statement, apologizing for Matuschik's statement on BTS and "resolutely distances itself from any form of racism, marginalisation and discrimination.”

The membership of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) is miniscule when compared to the nearly 10,000 members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which hands out the Oscars.

The HFPA was founded in the 1940s by a small group of foreign journalists who wanted to improve their access to Hollywood and its stars.

From rather humble beginnings, the group eventually started to wield some clout in Tinseltown -- in part, thanks to its free-flowing champagne and publicity stunts -- and now organizes one of Hollywood's most glam parties of the year.

Of course, not every foreign journalist can join. Candidates must live in southern California and have reported on the filmmaking industry for a media outlet headquartered outside the United States for at least three years.

More importantly, each candidate must have at least two current members sponsor his or her application. And any current member can veto an application outright.

Once admitted to the HFPA, the journalist must -- in theory -- produce at least six articles or broadcast pieces a year to remain an active member. Membership has its privileges: access to exclusive press conferences and screenings.

Studios are keen to ensure that HFPA members have seen their films and television shows -- sometimes under rather luxurious conditions, according to some involved who have spoken on the issue on condition of anonymity.

Most HFPA members are correspondents who work regularly for well-known media outlets, such as France's Le Figaro, Spain's El Pais, or Britain's Daily Mail.

But the group's reputation lost some lustre when it was revealed that a small minority of members didn't work all that often -- one was a former Russian bodybuilder who did some acting in B-list films, while another was the widow of an actor who wrote on occasion for Tahitian media.

And some major media organizations including France's Le Monde newspaper and The Times of London lashed out when their correspondents were denied entry into the HFPA.

The group has also been criticized for its lack of diversity, with a Los Angeles Times report this week revealing the HFPA does not have a single Black member.

"So many crazy things about the @goldenglobes and the Hollywood Foreign press but this is awful," said Judd Apatow, one of several prominent showbiz celebrities circulating the hashtag #timesupglobes. The HFPA released a statement recognizing that "we need to bring in Black members, as well as members from other underrepresented backgrounds."

Scandals -

The association has had its share of scandals. When Pia Zadora won a Golden Globe in 1982 for what was widely seen as a dismal performance in incest drama "Butterfly," many cried foul and suggested her then-husband, an Israeli billionaire businessman, had bought the voters by inviting them to Las Vegas for a screening.

Of course, the HFPA members insisted the junket had no bearing on their decision, but suspicions have lingered. Thirty years later, at the 2012 ceremony, edgy British comedian Ricky Gervais -- known for roasting the audience when he hosted the event multiple times -- revisited the issue.

He quipped: "The Golden Globes are to the Oscars what Kim Kardashian is to Kate Middleton -- a bit louder, a bit trashier, a bit drunker and more easily bought, allegedly.
