It is not for the claustrophobic.</p>

We know he’ll solve them, because he’s a dogged and gifted detective. But on any given day, it’s no sure thing that he’ll be able to drag himself out of bed.</p>

In the new season that began this week, the unlikely romance Harry found in Season 3 has blossomed, which is great news because his partner, painter Sonya Barzel, is played by the wonderful Jessica Hecht. I felt alive.”</p>

When his father picked him up later, Mata rapped the tune to him. He said the song was like “the cure” for his breakdown. Soon he was writing his debut album, “100 Dni Do Matury” (“100 Days to Finals”), which reviewers later called a farewell to his childhood. He managed to graduate.</p>

<p>Universal Studios got the deal in September and became Nolan’s first movie in years that's not being made with his now-former longtime studio, Warner Bros.. The announcement about this latest casting development was made known to the public&nbsp;on Friday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The studio also revealed that they are looking at a North American theatrical release on July 21, 2023. Releasing movies during the summers has been a long tradition with Nolan.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In Saturday Night Live's recently released promo for Kim Kardashian's big debut as host, the reality tv star-turned-businesswoman jokes about her debut as the show's leading lady this weekend in the new promo shared on Thursday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kim starts by introducing herself and singer-co-host Halsey, before Cecily Strong asks her if she's "nervous about doing sketch comedy."</p>

Reportedly, Hungarian researchers spent over two years scouting for dogs around the globe who could recognise the names of their various toys. Although most can learn commands to an extent, memorising the names of items seemed like a difficult task, with most dogs failing to acquire that skill.</p>

Six 'genius dogs'--Max (Hungary), Gaia (Brazil), Nalani (Netherlands), Squall (US), Whisky (Norway), and Rico (Spain)--cleared the test of proving they knew the names of more than 28 toys, with some even remembering more than 100.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"These gifted dogs can learn new names of toys in a remarkable speed. In our previous study we found that they could learn a new toy name after hearing it only four times. But, with such short exposure, they did not form a long-term memory of it," said Dr Claudia Fugazza at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, lead researcher.&nbsp;</p>

<p>To push their limits, the owners of these dogs were made to teach them six, and then 12, names of toys in a single week.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"It turned out that, for these talented dogs, this was not much of a challenge. They easily learned between 11 to 12 toys," said Dr. Shany Dror, who is also from the same university as Dr. Claudia.&nbsp;</p>

Universal Studios Hollywood to require vaccination proof starting October

<p>He couldn't hop on a plane and buy his freedom amid the chaos of Taliban takeover of Kabul in August.</p>

<p>So, he stayed.</p>

<p>The fear of losing&nbsp;life was so grave that he had walked for days straight, climbed rocky mountains and braved the unforgiving weather. Since Panjshir&nbsp;fell—last ray of hope, we reckon—he has been hiding from what he calls 'a prison-like' Taliban administration.</p>

<p>His family, scattered. His independence, long gone.</p>

<p>In an exclusive interview with WION from an undisclosed location in Afghanistan, a fiesty ***Aamir tells us the story of life under Taliban regime&nbsp;and the uncertainty that lurks.</p>

<p><br />
<strong>WION: You tried but couldn't flee Afghanistan and now you and the rest of your family is hiding at different locations. And, as you say, Taliban has taken over your family home. What forbade you from leaving Afghanistan and why did it get especially bad for you and your family?</strong></p>

<p><br />
<strong>AAMIR: </strong>Yes, we had tried to flee from Kabul since our family, especially my father and my brother, were engaged directly with the native forces as military officers. During the evacuation, we tried to flee from Afghanistan. But, unfortunately, we couldn't do that. Since the Taliban took control of Kabul city, we have been in Panjshir Valley alongside the resistance forces of the Pakistani drones’ interference in <a href="https://www.wionews.com/videos/wion-in-panjshir-final-hours-before-the-fall-411190">Panjshir Valley</a>. The resistance forces defended initially, so we left (Panjshir), we came back to Kabul, and now we are hiding inside Kabul city. Each member of the family is living in separate areas. If one is to be captured by the Taliban, then the rest of us could get informed. And now, living under Taliban is very difficult. It is like a prison, whole country is like prisoners who are inside a jail. If you go on in the city, you may recognise you're living in the city of zombies. So, we are trying somehow to manage.</p>

<p><strong>WION: You are a self-proclaimed supporter of the resistance movement and have sought refuge in Kabul after leaving Panjshir for obvious reasons. How did you make that journey and why was it important for you to be part of the resistance?</strong></p>

<p><br />
<strong>AAMIR: </strong>I have been a part of the resistance forces and I have been supporting—and I am still supporting. After Panjshir fell, we made our journey (back) to Kabul city. We climbed up the mountains from Dara district, and then descended to Nejrab district and from there, it was one-and-a-half day walking distance to reach Kabul city. It was around 80 kms. Yes, it was quite difficult and we made the journey. We came to Kabul. Life is quite difficult here. We are all hiding, both men and women of the family, with our relatives and friends. Living in Kabul is horrible; it’s terrifying under this state (of) terrorism. It is very disgusting that we live in such a country and we lost a democracy like we (once) had, unfortunately.</p>

<p><strong>WION: The female members of your family--and even female friends--must be terrified. How are they getting by?</strong></p>

<strong>AAMIR: </strong>Yes, some of my female family members like my siblings, or my wife or my friends whom I had who were working with the private or governmental organisations, have been restricted to not go to their jobs or to the academic areas like universities or schools. So I think removing female employees or half of the society will lead Afghanistan again to 90s of the Taliban regime. So, mainly the Taliban is keen to establish male-dominance kind of governance in Afghanistan. And this is really sad for open-minded people like us. And, we are losing mostly like a lot of educated people. I think the female or the woman situation in Afghanistan is very bad. And they are in the process of being removed from the society. And their engagement in government sector or private sector--media or wherever--they have been working and now they are restricted not to go.</p>

<strong>WION: You mentioned your family members have served different embassies over the years and now they are hiding away. How's life for them?</strong></p>

<p><br />
<strong>AAMIR: </strong>My family members work with embassies. All (of) my family members who have been in charge of security and protection of all embassies inside Kabul city for a very long period of time, we couldn't flee from Kabul (and) now we are in a very high risk of dismissal: all the family members. And we are being called by the Taliban, ‘this family (referring to his clan) or that group of people are servants of the ignorant inside of Aghanistan.’ So, this is making our lives extremely difficult and the family members are living under a very, very high mental pressure. Most of the family members, who directly worked with the forces and the embassies, are now in very deep depression and mental health problems. So living under Taliban, with such a background, is making life very difficult in Kabul.</p>

<strong>WION: You mentioned studying in India for a good number of years. How was that experience for you? What is the main difference between both the countries you observed during your stay?</strong></p>

<p><br />
<strong>AAMIR: </strong>I have done my bachelor's and master's both in India. So the thing I observed in India is that it is a highly diverse country with many religions, many ethnicities and many languages. So they were living side by side with each other. And they're trying to make their nation great. And&nbsp;if I compare, then you will see that&nbsp;Afghanistan is also a highly diverse country. People who are Muslims, who are Hindus, and Jewish are living inside Afghanistan. But, the problem in Afghanistan is, a fundamentalist part or a group of Muslims are coming and taking control of Afghanistan with violence. And...inside Afghanistan, there is an ethnic war.</p>

<strong>AAMIR: </strong>Yes, I'm in touch. And my Indian friends are consistently calling me and texting me. And they're asking about how the situation is going on here. They're asking about my life, and about what I'm doing here. And especially my classmates, my teachers, my college friends, and even the friends I used to meet at coffee shops in India. And I'm really thankful to the people of India, especially my friends who have been in touch with me and who have been calling me and texting all the time. From the time Taliban took control till now, every day they are in touch with me, they're asking about me, and they're just requesting me to take care of myself and to be in touch with them. Since Panjshir fell—last ray of hope, we reckon—he has been hiding from what he calls 'a prison-like' Taliban administration. His family, scattered. His independence, long gone. In an exclusive interview with WION from an undisclosed location in Afghanistan, a fiesty ***Aamir tells us the story of life under Taliban regime and the uncertainty that lurks. WION: You tried but couldn't flee Afghanistan and now you and the rest of your family is hiding at different locations. And, as you say, Taliban has taken over your family home. What forbade you from leaving Afghanistan and why did it get especially bad for you and your family? AAMIR: Yes, we had tried to flee from Kabul since our family, especially my father and my brother, were engaged directly with the native forces as military officers. During the evacuation, we tried to flee from Afghanistan. But, unfortunately, we couldn't do that. Since the Taliban took control of Kabul city, we have been in Panjshir Valley alongside the resistance forces of the Pakistani drones’ interference in Panjshir Valley. The resistance forces defended initially, so we left (Panjshir), we came back to Kabul, and now we are hiding inside Kabul city. Each member of the family is living in separate areas. If one is to be captured by the Taliban, then the rest of us could get informed. And now, living under Taliban is very difficult. It is like a prison, whole country is like prisoners who are inside a jail. If you go on in the city, you may recognise you're living in the city of zombies. So, we are trying somehow to manage. How did you make that journey and why was it important for you to be part of the resistance? AAMIR: I have been a part of the resistance forces and I have been supporting—and I am still supporting. After Panjshir fell, we made our journey (back) to Kabul city. We climbed up the mountains from Dara district, and then descended to Nejrab district and from there, it was one-and-a-half day walking distance to reach Kabul city. It was around 80 kms. Yes, it was quite difficult and we made the journey. We came to Kabul. Life is quite difficult here. We are all hiding, both men and women of the family, with our relatives and friends. Living in Kabul is horrible; it’s terrifying under this state (of) terrorism. It is very disgusting that we live in such a country and we lost a democracy like we (once) had, unfortunately. WION exclusive | Afghan actor Warina Hussain: I don't blame women who have taken up arms in Afghanistan WION: The female members of your family--and even female friends--must be terrified. How are they getting by? AAMIR: Yes, some of my female family members like my siblings, or my wife or my friends whom I had who were working with the private or governmental organisations, have been restricted to not go to their jobs or to the academic areas like universities or schools. So I think removing female employees or half of the society will lead Afghanistan again to 90s of the Taliban regime. So, mainly the Taliban is keen to establish male-dominance kind of governance in Afghanistan. And this is really sad for open-minded people like us. And, we are losing mostly like a lot of educated people. I think the female or the woman situation in Afghanistan is very bad. And they are in the process of being removed from the society. And their engagement in government sector or private sector--media or wherever--they have been working and now they are restricted not to go. WION: You mentioned your family members have served different embassies over the years and now they are hiding away. How's life for them? AAMIR: My family members work with embassies. All (of) my family members who have been in charge of security and protection of all embassies inside Kabul city for a very long period of time, we couldn't flee from Kabul (and) now we are in a very high risk of dismissal: all the family members. And we are being called by the Taliban, ‘this family (referring to his clan) or that group of people are servants of the ignorant inside of Aghanistan.’ So, this is making our lives extremely difficult and the family members are living under a very, very high mental pressure. Most of the family members, who directly worked with the forces and the embassies, are now in very deep depression and mental health problems. So living under Taliban, with such a background, is making life very difficult in Kabul. WION: You mentioned studying in India for a good number of years. How was that experience for you? What is the main difference between both the countries you observed during your stay? AAMIR: I have done my bachelor's and master's both in India. So the thing I observed in India is that it is a highly diverse country with many religions, many ethnicities and many languages. So they were living side by side with each other. And they're trying to make their nation great. And if I compare, then you will see that Afghanistan is also a highly diverse country. People who are Muslims, who are Hindus, and Jewish are living inside Afghanistan. But, the problem in Afghanistan is, a fundamentalist part or a group of Muslims are coming and taking control of Afghanistan with violence. And...inside Afghanistan, there is an ethnic war. AAMIR: Yes, I'm in touch. And my Indian friends are consistently calling me and texting me. And they're asking about how the situation is going on here. They're asking about my life, and about what I'm doing here. And especially my classmates, my teachers, my college friends, and even the friends I used to meet at coffee shops in India. And I'm really thankful to the people of India, especially my friends who have been in touch with me and who have been calling me and texting all the time. From the time Taliban took control till now, every day they are in touch with me, they're asking about me, and they're just requesting me to take care of myself and to be in touch with them. <p>A man in Austria was arrested by the police after he mummified his dead mother in order to keep receiving her benefit money. Police have recovered the body of his 89-year-old mother. The 66-year-old man has been charged with fraud and for hiding a corpse. He kept the body hidden in the cellar of the house for more than a year.</p>

<p>The man lived with his mother near Innsbruck in Tyrol region. After his mother passed away in June last year he froze her body using icepacks. He wrapped her body in bandages to absorb fluids and covered her body in cat litter. Finally, the corpse was mummified. He then hid the body inside his house.</p>

<p>When his brother came around asking for his mother he told him that she was in hospital. The man pocketed his mother's benefit money that came by post each month.</p>

<p>He has pocketed nearly 60,000 dollars till now.</p>

<p>The game was up when a new postman came to deliver the money. The postman demanded to see the beneficiary to ensure that money was handed to the right person. The man refused. The postman then informed the authorities who later recovered the dead body.</p>

But, ask Cannes World Film Festival winner Shankar Mahadevan--his biographical documentary<a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/bollywood/news-indian-musician-shankar-mahadevans-biopic-wins-big-at-cannes-world-film-festival-407972"> 'Decoding Shankar' has won 'best Indian Film' and 'Best Biographical Film' </a>at the recently concluded cinema extravagenza--if he wants to take it slow, and he says, matter-of-factly, "I really, really honestly sincerely feel that I have not even scratched the surface of music." Such is his dedication towards work.</p>

In an exclusive interview with WION, the veteran music composer-singer reminisces the time his wife had nudged him to take up music (and thank goodness for that!), his 'marriage' to band members Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa and why he never ever thinks of quitting music.&nbsp;</p>

<strong>WION: To win 'Best Indian Film' and 'Best Biographical Film' all at once and on a platform like the Cannes World Film Festival happens very rarely, and is a marvelous achievement in itself. How did you react to the news? Has it sunk in yet?</strong></p>

<p><br />
<strong>SHANKAR MAHADEVAN:</strong> Yeah, I mean, how can I describe what I'm feeling it is a feeling absolute. I'm feeling absolutely ecstatic and overwhelmed. overjoyed You know, when we made this film, you know, it was it was just, it was just deep TC one's passion and his her dedication to the subject, you know, and I had faith in it and, you know, we just made it but never in our dreams, we thought that, you know, it's gonna win so many awards and get represented in so many festivals. And I don't think that those things were in our mind, especially and, you know, and whatever this film, The success of this film, the kind of recognition that it's got all the awards, all the accolades that this film has got, I owe it to this person, Deepti Sivan, who is who has really, really, really worked hard and, you know, done a lot of research on this. So everything I dedicate to her because I'm just playing. It's about me, I know that but, you know, but all the awards, all the accolades and all the recognition is for DPC one and her team.</p>

<strong>WION: If you were to ‘decode’ Shankar—the person—how would you describe him?</strong></p>

<p><br />
<strong>SHANKAR MAHADEVAN: </strong>Yeah, if I have to decode me, I think I'm a person who doesn't take things very seriously. I believe in peace. Peace is my number one agenda in life. And love is peace and love are two very, very important things. And if you decode me, I would say that anger and ego are two things that I don't believe in. And I think I'm a person who likes to derive big pleasures out of very, very simple things.</p>

<strong>WION: Since we are talking about your life and legacy, what has been the most profound experience that has shaped you as a musician and altered your approach towards life—for better or worse?</strong></p>

<p><br />
<strong>SHANKAR MAHADEVAN:</strong> Well, being a musician many times, we realize that we are blessed; not all the people around you have the power of music, the magic of music. And when you realize that you really feel so blessed and so happy and you're in gratitude. And I think the people around me have always been so supportive. My wife (Sangeeta Mahadevan), when I was just going around with her, and you know, and I was an engineer, I was a successful engineer. But she's the one who told me that, you know, there may be a million engineers, but I think that there's going to be only one Shankar Mahadevan, and I think moments like these, they have really defined my musical career and they have helped me progress. Man also meeting the correct kind of people in the correct place doing the correct kind of music, and re and that, that music reaching out to the people of the country and all over the world. You know, you got to be really the timing and everything should be so perfect, and I was one of those lucky people to get all those aspects in my life.</p>

<strong>WION: How has Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, or the ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ of Bollywood, contributed to the moment leading up to your Cannes win?</strong></p>

<p><br />
<strong>SHANKAR MAHADEVAN: </strong>Shankar Ehsaan Loy, the trio, it's been a part of my life. And I think it is, it's like a marriage, you know, the way we worked our partnership, our music, how we function, it is like, it's like how marriage functions, you know, we have to work on it on a daily basis. Of course, there are ups and downs and you know, there are emotional disagreements, creative discrepancies, but, but we know, for a fact that all three of us we are looking at the bigger picture, we are looking at the success of the song, the beauty of the song, the the final product that comes out, so, even never in our mind has it ever crossed. That, you know, we have to split up and we have to just, you know, become individual, you know, we can't function as a team anymore, we have never ever thought of that, because we ourselves are very different individuals and have individual, you know, our own lives to handle. But when we come together, it's automatically a team. And, and there's a lot of respect, between the three of us respect as people, and also for creative ideas. And unless you respect the other person's creative idea, I don't think you can, you know, you can go forward in life, and they have been instrumental in a lot of, you know, musical moments in my life, which are so, so, so important. And we have created music that that's going to stay on this planet for a very, very long time. I mean, there are many many songs that these pieces of music are going to stay for a very, very long time and my band have been instrumental in that, so I thank them for that.</p>

<strong>WION: Having worked for so long in the industry and accomplishing almost everything there is to accomplish, where do you stand ambition-wise? Do you still have the hunger to explore new ground or are you content to slow down a bit?&nbsp;</strong></p>

<strong>SHANKAR MAHADEVAN: </strong>Oh, I've been in the industry for many many years but not for a minute I feel that I have been there and I've done that and I've accomplished so much. And I don't need to do anything more I never ever feel because always that feeling of thirst or hunger of exploring so many things, I really, really honestly sincerely feel that I have not even scratched the surface of music. There is so much more to do and there is so many there are so many possibilities, you know, had I been a little more less lazy, I would have done even more than what I'm doing but I know that you know there are I derive pleasure from other things other than music also like you know, being with family and spending small moments, you know, enjoying the you know, pleasures of just being at home with my children. You know, spending time with my wife and doing in a traveling-around holiday. These are also very, very important (things). Like cooking, these things are very important for me. So, you know, some music I have done music but I I always feel that there is so much more to do and so little time. So you know that hunger is I mean, tremendous amount of hunger is always there.</p>

But, ask Cannes World Film Festival winner Shankar Mahadevan--his biographical documentary 'Decoding Shankar' has won 'best Indian Film' and 'Best Biographical Film' at the recently concluded cinema extravagenza--if he wants to take it slow, and he says, matter-of-factly, "I really, really honestly sincerely feel that I have not even scratched the surface of music." Such is his dedication towards work. In an exclusive interview with WION, the veteran music composer-singer reminisces the time his wife had nudged him to take up music (and thank goodness for that!), his 'marriage' to band members Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa and why he never ever thinks of quitting music. Excerpts from the conversation: WION: To win 'Best Indian Film' and 'Best Biographical Film' all at once and on a platform like the Cannes World Film Festival happens very rarely, and is a marvelous achievement in itself. How did you react to the news? Has it sunk in yet? SHANKAR MAHADEVAN: Yeah, I mean, how can I describe what I'm feeling it is a feeling absolute. I'm feeling absolutely ecstatic and overwhelmed. overjoyed You know, when we made this film, you know, it was it was just, it was just deep TC one's passion and his her dedication to the subject, you know, and I had faith in it and, you know, we just made it but never in our dreams, we thought that, you know, it's gonna win so many awards and get represented in so many festivals. And I don't think that those things were in our mind, especially and, you know, and whatever this film, The success of this film, the kind of recognition that it's got all the awards, all the accolades that this film has got, I owe it to this person, Deepti Sivan, who is who has really, really, really worked hard and, you know, done a lot of research on this. So everything I dedicate to her because I'm just playing. It's about me, I know that but, you know, but all the awards, all the accolades and all the recognition is for DPC one and her team. WION: If you were to ‘decode’ Shankar—the person—how would you describe him? SHANKAR MAHADEVAN: Yeah, if I have to decode me, I think I'm a person who doesn't take things very seriously. I believe in peace. Peace is my number one agenda in life. And love is peace and love are two very, very important things. And if you decode me, I would say that anger and ego are two things that I don't believe in. And I think I'm a person who likes to derive big pleasures out of very, very simple things. SHANKAR MAHADEVAN: Well, being a musician many times, we realize that we are blessed; not all the people around you have the power of music, the magic of music. And when you realize that you really feel so blessed and so happy and you're in gratitude. And I think the people around me have always been so supportive. My wife (Sangeeta Mahadevan), when I was just going around with her, and you know, and I was an engineer, I was a successful engineer. But she's the one who told me that, you know, there may be a million engineers, but I think that there's going to be only one Shankar Mahadevan, and I think moments like these, they have really defined my musical career and they have helped me progress. Man also meeting the correct kind of people in the correct place doing the correct kind of music, and re and that, that music reaching out to the people of the country and all over the world. You know, you got to be really the timing and everything should be so perfect, and I was one of those lucky people to get all those aspects in my life. WION: How has Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, or the ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ of Bollywood, contributed to the moment leading up to your Cannes win? SHANKAR MAHADEVAN: Shankar Ehsaan Loy, the trio, it's been a part of my life. And I think it is, it's like a marriage, you know, the way we worked our partnership, our music, how we function, it is like, it's like how marriage functions, you know, we have to work on it on a daily basis. Of course, there are ups and downs and you know, there are emotional disagreements, creative discrepancies, but, but we know, for a fact that all three of us we are looking at the bigger picture, we are looking at the success of the song, the beauty of the song, the the final product that comes out, so, even never in our mind has it ever crossed. That, you know, we have to split up and we have to just, you know, become individual, you know, we can't function as a team anymore, we have never ever thought of that, because we ourselves are very different individuals and have individual, you know, our own lives to handle. But when we come together, it's automatically a team. And, and there's a lot of respect, between the three of us respect as people, and also for creative ideas. And unless you respect the other person's creative idea, I don't think you can, you know, you can go forward in life, and they have been instrumental in a lot of, you know, musical moments in my life, which are so, so, so important. And we have created music that that's going to stay on this planet for a very, very long time.
