<p>Shahid Kapoor, his wife Mira Rajput and their families rang in the New Year in the picturesque country Bhutan. Mira's parents and Shahid's mother, actress Neelima Azeem, and brother, actor Ishaan Khatter accompanied the couple and their kids to the trip. The actors and Mira have shared glimpses of the vacation in Bhutan, and treated fans to snippets of their beautiful holiday.&nbsp;<br />

One highlight included their meeting with Bhutan’s royalty, King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, along with Queen Jetsun Pema Wangchuck.<br />

Is Shahid Kapoor working on a Jab We Met sequel? Here's what we know

<p>For those who have followed and loved actor Shahid Kapoor's career graph since the days of his debut in <em>Ishq Vishq</em>, his recent choice of films must have come as a surprise. He started off playing the quintessential lover boy in Hindi films but with age, has experimented with different roles and genres in cinema - proving that he has more to him than just playing the romantic hero. Kapoor's latest release, <em>Bloody Daddy,</em> helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar, puts the actor in a genre that usually one doesn't associate him with - action. But Kapoor manages to hold his own and eases into the character of an anti-hero with utmost perfection, making the film watchable.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
I have to be honest, when I had initially watched the trailer of <em>Bloody Daddy,</em> I wasn't very excited. It looked like a film which would indulge in stylised action sequences a bit too much, would have too much gore and a wafer-thin plot. I wasn't too wrong with my assumptions, yet I found <em>Bloody Daddy</em> an engaging watch -all thanks to the film's cast and Zafar's credible execution.&nbsp;<br />

Kapoor plays a sort of rebel, a narcotics officer called Sumair who right at the beginning of the film pulls off a drug heist in Delhi's Connaught Place along with an aide. The purpose of the heist is not known. What is known, though, is that it belongs to hotelier and drug lord Sikandar Chaudhary (Ronit Roy) who wants it back. And so as a retaliation, he kidnaps Sumair's son Atharv (Sartaaj Kakkar). While the writing, by Zafar, Aditya Basu, Siddharth and Garima, may not always be very logical, the implementation on screen is slick. Despite the wafer-thin plot which leaves many questions unanswered, the film's treatment and its credible actors make it an engaging watch. Shahid Kapoor has performed better in other films, where his acting has been well-highlighted. <em>Bloody Daddy</em> is not that film. That does not take away anything from the actor though. He is in good form and eases into a poorly written role well. The character lacks depth which is perhaps the writer's fault but Kapoor looks and performs his character well- sometimes reminding you of his recent roles in <em>Farzi</em> and <em>Kabir Singh.&nbsp;</em><br />

Giving him able support are actors Ronit Roy, Ankur Bhatia, Rajeev Khandelwal and Diana Penty who in their limited roles deliver well and do justice to their characters. Sanjay Kapoor too, in what appears to be a cameo role, performs to his role well. Wish all these actors though had more to do - all are credible performers and deserved more screen time.&nbsp;<br />

While the script may appear incoherent in certain parts, there are moments in the film which stand out. Kapoor barges into the wedding party as he is chased by Roy and his men, climbs up on an elaborately decorated table, trampling over champagne glasses, &nbsp;while the bride and groom and their guests look in horror. The scene is well executed and is quite a delight to watch even though there are very few dialogues in it. Then near the climax, Badshah croons on stage as violence ensues in the background.&nbsp;<br />

<em>Bloody Daddy</em> may not have a legible plot, but surprisingly it still keeps you hooked. You may want to know a few things here and there, yet you will immerse yourself in the film as Kapoor and Khandelwal fight it out in the kitchen with knives instead of guns.&nbsp;<br />

But Kapoor manages to hold his own and eases into the character of an anti-hero with utmost perfection, making the film watchable. I have to be honest, when I had initially watched the trailer of Bloody Daddy, I wasn't very excited. It looked like a film which would indulge in stylised action sequences a bit too much, would have too much gore and a wafer-thin plot. I wasn't too wrong with my assumptions, yet I found Bloody Daddy an engaging watch -all thanks to the film's cast and Zafar's credible execution. Shahid does what he is instructed to do but the packet contains flour and not cocaine and then all hell breaks loose. The trailer also gives a glimpse of other actors playing key roles in the film - Sanjay Kapoor, Rajeev Khandelwal and Diana Penty, and all are hellbent on stopping Shahid Kapoor from his mission.<br />

<p>After delivering a solid&nbsp;performance in <em>Farzi,</em> Shahid Kapoor is back with yet another OTT project. Titled <em>Bloody Daddy</em>, the show is set to have a direct-to-digital release on June 9.&nbsp;</p>

<p><em>Bloody Daddy</em> is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and is reported to feature all that a tentpole has – action, drama and lots of action. Teasing the first look of the film, Ali Abbas Zafar said in a video conference, “I am happy the teaser of our film is released, I am in London for a shoot of my other film.”</p>

If looks could kill! Shahid Kapoor's Bloody Daddy to get OTT release on this date

<p>Bollywood actors Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon are all set to share screen space for the very first time in their upcoming sci-fi romance film. On Saturday, the makers of the movie announced that the actors have successfully wrapped&nbsp;shooting for the same. They also unveiled the first-look poster for the yet-untitled film in the Instagram post.</p>

<p>In the now-viral photo, Shahid and Kriti can be seen sitting on a bike and romantically embracing each other.&nbsp;While the <em>Kabir Singh</em> actor is seen dressed in denim pants and a white shirt, the actress is seen flaunting her fit frame in a mini skirt and tube top.</p>

<p>The poster also revealed that the film will release in October 2023.</p>

<p>Sharing the poster on their official Instagram handle, Maddock Films wrote, "An impossible love story! The show created by ‘The Family Man’ makers, Raj &amp; DK, promise to woo the audiences with something new up their sleeves. Known for their style of edgy thrillers, the showmakers are excited to collaborate with Shahid on this show.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On his collaboration with Raj &amp; DK, Shahid Kapoor said, “They really allow the actors to come out and express themselves and sometimes they are really worried with what we are doing with the shots.. But they let you do what you want to do and I felt very free. I also feel that this show has been made in a very fluid manner. It’s very contemporary the way we shot the show, the way the characters have been written and developed allows every actor to really like dig-in deep because there is enough meat there if you really go looking hard for it and it’s very democratic.”</p>

<p>“I think they let everybody bring what they feel and then they kind of final it together to make it what they feel is right. I had a lot of fun and I felt &nbsp;very free. I think they felt very nervous like what’s up with him but I was having a great time,” Shahid added.&nbsp;</p>

Bollywood star Kartik Aaryan, who was last seen on the silver screen in 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2' and on OTT in 'Freddy', will be staying at actor Shahid Kapoor's lavish Juhu apartment on rent. For the sea-facing property, the 'Love Aaj Kal' actor has agreed to pay a monthly rent of Rs 7.5 lakh for the first twelve months, Rs 8 lakh for the second year and Rs 8.58 lakh for the third year. The lease terms indicate a 7 per cent escalation in rent every year. Shahid reportedly bought the apartment, located in the Praneta building on Juhu Tara Road, in 2014 before he tied the knot with Mira Rajput. The actor was staying there until last year with his two kids, Zain and Misha, and his wife. The family of four reportedly moved into a swanky new duplex located in Mumbai's Worli in September last year. The property's proximity to Juhu beach is its main attraction. As per reports, the property is spread over 3,681 sq ft and comes with two huge parking spaces. Aaryan has paid Rs 45 lakh as the security deposit. The stamp duty and registration for the 36-month lease transaction were done last week. Shahid’s wife has done the transaction on the actor's behalf with Aaryan’s mother Mala Tiwari, according to documents accessed through zapkey.com. <p>Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor, who is currently gearing up for his OTT&nbsp;debut with&nbsp;'Farzi', has spoken about the future of cinema, what works for the audience, the success of 'Kantara', and a lot more in a new interview. The actor furnished the recent example of the breakout success of 'Kantara' and said that good content will always work.</p>

<p>Speaking about the Kannada film, which has been written and directed by its lead actor Rishab Shetty, Shahid&nbsp;told IANS,&nbsp;"How would you judge a film like 'Kantara', man? It was not a spectacle when it was released. Of course, it is a spectacle to watch but it was the audience that made that film what it has become now."</p>

<p>Delving deeper, he stated, "It's more about what cinematic experience a film can provide. I agree that there is a clear demarcation between different content pieces but I don't see this as a change in trend. I just feel that multiple things have happened in the last three years and the differentiation is what I want to watch at home and what I am willing to watch in the theatres."</p>

<p>Further sharing his observation and insights, he expressed, "One thing that I have observed in the audience is that they are not willing to pay their hard-earned money for mediocre content. Unless your content is good, it has a certain scale, it has a certain entertainment quotient, it won't work. The audience wants to watch good content. They are willing to walk into the theatres but you have to bring your A-game to the table."</p>

<p>Changing the course of the conversation, the actor added, "Another thing is that the pandemic was very challenging for the entire fraternity because we work under certain conditions, this is a collaborative medium and there is a certain way of working. For instance, for 'Farzi', we hardly met before the shoot, we were constantly on Zoom calls trying to brainstorm from the confines of our homes staying as much safe as we could."</p>

I never judge the characters that I play, it's okay with me if people judge them or even hate them. My job as an actor is to put conviction and believability in my characters," he added.</p>

<p>"My favourite line of this character from the series is that he says he is helping the system by actually putting in more money. Every criminal has a justification for their actions and so does he," the actor concluded.</p>

The actor furnished the recent example of the breakout success of 'Kantara' and said that good content will always work. Speaking about the Kannada film, which has been written and directed by its lead actor Rishab Shetty, Shahid told IANS, "How would you judge a film like 'Kantara', man? It was not a spectacle when it was released. Of course, it is a spectacle to watch but it was the audience that made that film what it has become now." Delving deeper, he stated, "It's more about what cinematic experience a film can provide. I agree that there is a clear demarcation between different content pieces but I don't see this as a change in trend. I just feel that multiple things have happened in the last three years and the differentiation is what I want to watch at home and what I am willing to watch in the theatres." Further sharing his observation and insights, he expressed, "One thing that I have observed in the audience is that they are not willing to pay their hard-earned money for mediocre content. Unless your content is good, it has a certain scale, it has a certain entertainment quotient, it won't work. The audience wants to watch good content. They are willing to walk into the theatres but you have to bring your A-game to the table." Changing the course of the conversation, the actor added, "Another thing is that the pandemic was very challenging for the entire fraternity because we work under certain conditions, this is a collaborative medium and there is a certain way of working. For instance, for 'Farzi', we hardly met before the shoot, we were constantly on Zoom calls trying to brainstorm from the confines of our homes staying as much safe as we could." Kapoor started off his career playing romantic leads but with time has grown immensely as an actor and dabbled with some very difficult roles - each time delivering a memorable performance. Kapoor's latest 'Jersey' has him delivering one of the most restraint performances of his career.<br />

A remake of the 2019 Telugu film by the same name, 'Jersey' takes you back in time to the 1990s and narrates the story of Arjun Talwar. Once a gifted cricketer in the 80s, Arjun now lives in a govt quarter with his wife Vidya (Mrunal Thakur) and son Kittu.&nbsp;<br />

Arjun's glorious days on the field are a thing of the past and he now lives as a jilted man who has lost his govt job in a falsely implicated case and has no will to fight back - to go back to the field or get his job back. His marriage is strained because of financial pressure at home and his only solace is his son who literally hero-worships him.<br />

In fact, it's his son's demand for the Indian Jersey as his birthday gift (which Arjun can't afford) that makes Arjun go back to the field much to his coach and mentor's joy (Pankaj Kapoor). After a successful match but no money, Arjun realises he wants to give another shot to the Indian cricket team, while selectors and his coach feel at 36 he is more suitable for an assistant coach's position. How he beats the odds and becomes the hero in his son's life forms the rest of the story.</p>

<p>Written and directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, 'Jersey' is a long detailed story showcasing the many failures of a man who was once a star on the field. He eloped with Vidya, had a potentially shining career in the Indian cricket team and when he didn't get through- he decided to leave the sport for good. 10 years down the line, his marriage is falling apart, he has no job and super-high self-esteem which stops him from taking up odd jobs or even fighting the legal battle to get his govt job back.&nbsp;<br />

A film that is high on emotions demands credible performances by its actors to keep the viewers engaged. The lead of the film, Shahid Kapoor holds the film together with his subtle restraint performance. Shahid at the beginning of his career was known for his theatrics and dance moves, but Kapoor over the years has matured as an actor and in 'Jersey,' he seems to have aged like fine wine. The film is centred around him and holds the almost three-hour long film together with his stupendous performance.&nbsp;</p>

Thakur's role as the wife who has to hold the fort while her husband whilst away years sitting at home is also a tough one to play. The two form a great pair- who show the digression of their relationship very well. The screenplay by &nbsp;Tinnanuri beautifully shows how the relationship between Arjun and Vidya changes with time due to circumstances. Marital discord is shown in many films, but many times makers fail to bring out the stillness that comes in a relationship that is at the brink of failing. In Jersey, both Thakur and Kapoor deal with their scenes beautifully. So does Kamra who infuses the perfect amount of maturity and innocence into his character.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
The senior Kapur's character isn't that well fleshed out yet, as assistant coach and mentor, the veteran actor shines and especially in the last scene, where his character is shown to have aged tremendously, its a delight to watch Pankaj Kapur, speaking in a certain manner which is suitable to his character.&nbsp;<br />

The film's cinematography by Anil Mehta and music by Sachet-Parampara are also praise worthy. Mehta creates the cricket scenes- which are in plenty- very engaging making the viewer immerse in the matches.<br />

The film though could have been shorter. There are certain plot points that do not make sense. How a man who has been off -cricket for years, can make such a stupendous comeback in his first match after a sabbatical without any practice is slightly hard to believe. Also, there is a lot of background commentary&nbsp;- which is typical of all sports films- which after a point seems unnecessary.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
'Jersey' though, still scores six for it has its heart at the right place. For its endearing story of a father wanting to do better for his son and for its underdog story. A well-written script, aided with performances by its credible actors makes 'Jersey' worth a watch.&nbsp;<br />

'Jersey' movie review: Shahid Kapoor delivers a restrained performance in a heartwarming film

<p>We finally have our hands on the real reason why Shahid Kapoor starrer ‘Jersey’ has been shifted from its original release date. Now set for a release on April 22, the film is facing legal trouble owing to a copyright infringement suit by writer Rupesh Jaiswal.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the copyright suit, Rupesh claims that his story was infringed. He submitted that in 2007, he got a script registered titled The Wall with the former Film Writers Association. The association is now called screenwriters association. The man claims that his concept, story and idea from his script have been plagiarised within the Telugu and now the Hindi remake as well.</p>

<p>The Telugu film released in 2019 and has now been remade in Hindi.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Rupesh Jaiswal’s story is around a male protagonist and was set in the backdrop of the sport of cricket. The primary underlying themes of the story were familial love and affection, determination, defiance of age-linked inhibitions in view of bonafide ambition etc. The script involved a cricketer giving up the sport in his early youth only to pick it up again in his middle age, being motivated by his desire to make his family proud of him, especially his son.</p>

<p>He claims that the script has been tweaked so that they can go scot free from the scanner of plagiarism. "The defendants have unjustly enriched themselves while causing massive economic loss to the plaintiff (Jaiswal)," the suit stated.</p>

<p>He also stated that the makers have colluded with each other to cheat and deceive him for wrongful gain by wrongfully obtaining the script from a third party so they could avoid paying royalties.</p>

He submitted that in 2007, he got a script registered titled The Wall with the former Film Writers Association. The association is now called screenwriters association. The man claims that his concept, story and idea from his script have been plagiarised within the Telugu and now the Hindi remake as well. The Telugu film released in 2019 and has now been remade in Hindi. Rupesh Jaiswal’s story is around a male protagonist and was set in the backdrop of the sport of cricket. The primary underlying themes of the story were familial love and affection, determination, defiance of age-linked inhibitions in view of bonafide ambition etc. The script involved a cricketer giving up the sport in his early youth only to pick it up again in his middle age, being motivated by his desire to make his family proud of him, especially his son. "The defendants have unjustly enriched themselves while causing massive economic loss to the plaintiff (Jaiswal)," the suit stated. He also stated that the makers have colluded with each other to cheat and deceive him for wrongful gain by wrongfully obtaining the script from a third party so they could avoid paying royalties. The film has been pushed for a release on April 22.
