Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) were involved in a humdinger of a clash in match 32 of IPL 2021 edition, on Tuesday (September 21). Being asked to bat first, Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) posted a healthy and competitive 185 all-out in 20 overs, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.

In response, PBKS were off to a flier courtesy their openers KL Rahul (49) and Mayank Agarwal's fiery half-century. Courtesy their 120-run stand, PBKS were on course for an easy win and only needed 4 runs in the last over, with as many as 8 wickets in hand. However, the one-time runners-up couldn't hold onto their nerves and conceded a memorable 2-run win to the Royals.

During PBKS' run-chase when Rahul and Mayank were going bonkers, RR fielders didn't have the best of time as they dropped plenty of catches during their partnership. Rahul was given quite a few chances before he ran out of luck on 49. Just then, PBKS' official Twitter handle trolled RR hilariously but it was the latter who had the last laugh, off the field as well.

After the end result, RR replied on PBKS' tweet in style. Here's the two franchises' fun banter -

IPL 2021: RR add to PBKS' woes as fun banter between both teams continue after Sanju Samson & Co.'s narrow win

Match 32 of the IPL 2021 edition saw two perennial underachievers of the tournament in Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) and KL Rahul's Punjab Kings (PBKS) lock horns with each other at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on Tuesday evening (September 21).

While it was expected to be a modest-scoring encounter, the match was a high-scoring affair where Rahul & Co. went down to Rajasthan Royals, by 2 runs, to start their second and final leg, in the UAE, in a disappointing note whereas this is a morale-boosting win for Samson & Co.

Opting to bowl first in Dubai, Rahul & Co.'s bowlers once again didn't start well as Yashasvi Jaiswal and Evin Lewis unleashed their attacking side from the word go. Lewis, who departed for a well-made 21-ball 36, fell with RR 54 for 1 in 5.3 overs. While Samson couldn't do much and fell for 4, Jaiswal continued to attack and kept the scoreboard ticking at a brisk pace.

While Jaiswal fell at the stroke of his maiden IPL fifty, Liam Livingstone and Mahipal Lomror's scintillating cameos, filled with some attractive shots, kept RR ahead. Mohammed Shami's 3-fer and excellent death bowling from youngster Arshdeep Singh, who returned with 5 for 32, however, kept RR below the 200-run mark.

Chasing 186, PBKS were off to a flier with openers Rahul and Mayank Agarwal timing the run-chase with ease, finding the gaps and running hard between wickets. Another 100-run stand from Mayank-Rahul took Punjab to a perfect start. Personal milestones came in the way for the two openers as Mayank surpassed the 2000-run mark in IPL history whereas Rahul crossed the 3,000-run mark with his sublime form, reclaiming the Orange Cap.

After the two openers left, Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran kept Punjab on course for an easy win. The duo took the team to the last over, courtesy some brilliant fielding and death-over bowling from Rajasthan, but Karthik Tyagi kept his nerves to pull off a heist for his side, defending 4 runs and conceding only a single in the final over.

Tyagi finished with 2 for 29 whereas Mustafizur Rahman pulled things back with his economical spell, 0 for 30 (4). RR move to the fifth position whereas PBKS are in the seventh spot. Yet again, they have managed to throw away a game which was theirs to lose.

This has put Pakistan in serious threat of losing out on hosting international games once again, just when they were set to host a number of big teams in the near future.

IPL 2021's match 32 will see Rajasthan Royals (RR) lock horns with Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai on Tuesday evening (September 21). Both sides have been involved in some thrilling encounters in the past and the same is expected when the two unpredictable teams meet for the second time in the season and first in the UAE leg.

Talking about the last time both sides met, in Mumbai, it was a high-voltage contest. Riding on KL Rahul's 91 and Deepak Hooda's whirlwind 64, off 28 balls, PBKS posted 221-6. It seemed that Rahul & Co. were set to lose, however, Sanju Samson's 119 went in vain as RR lost the contest in the final few balls to lose by 4 runs. Considering both sides remain alive in the playoffs race and are still in the bottom four, they will give their all in the upcoming contest.

Ahead of match 32, here's everything you need to know about the pitch report, weather and probable playing XI:

Weather and pitch report: The bigger outfield on one side could mean that the encounter won't be a high-scoring one as it was the case when both sides met early this year. The two-paced nature of the surface witnessed during the CSK-MI clash, on Sunday, gives a sneak peek of things to look forward to in the Dubai venue. On the weather, it is going to be another hot day, with humidity at 59 percent, and zero percentage of precipitation.

IPL 2021 UAE leg: All teams and their revised squad list

Sunrisers Hyderabad opener Jonny Bairstow, Punjab Kings batsman Dawid Malan and Delhi Capitals all-rounder Chris Woakes have pulled out of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) due to personal reasons.

The England and India players were supposed to fly into UAE from Manchester together in a bubble to bubble transfer but COVID-19 cases in the visitors' camp forced IPL teams to make their own arrangements.

The fifth Test between India and England was also postponed indefinitely after a junior physio Yogesh Parmar tested positive for the virus ahead of the game.

Other members of India's support staff, including head Ravi Shastri, were already in quarantine after they tested positive for the virus during the fourth Test at the Oval.

All players arriving in Dubai now have to do a six-day quarantine and that could be the reason behind Bairstow and Malan pulling out.

A BCCI official told PTI that Bairstow and Malan the players won't be part of the IPL resuming September 19. The Guardian reported on Woakes' unavailability.

"They won't be boarding the flight to UAE. One of the reasons for their pull out is the six-day quarantine which they didn't need to do earlier," said the official.

While Bairstow is a regular in the Sunrisers line-up, world number one T20 batsman Malan made his IPL debut with Kings earlier this year. Aiden Markram has been named his replacement.

IPL 2021: 'It was a captain's knock' - Graeme Swann lauds KL Rahul

The Punjab Kings have a ritzy squad, however, they have not tracked down their ideal team mix in IPL 2021. Up until now, they have played six matches, recording two successes and four losses. In their match against Kolkata Knight Riders, the Punjab Kings batting unit was without dynamism and dependability. The trinity of KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, and Chris Gayle was required to ensure sure-footed security aside, yet that hasn't actually been the case up until now.

In the meantime, Royal Challengers Bangalore have ruled their adversaries in IPL 2021. Royal Challengers Bangalore have won five out of their six matches this year. Even after the loss against CSK, they ricocheted back by securing a one-run spine-chiller versus Delhi Capitals.

Head-to-Head

The Punjab Kings lead the head-to-head record against the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 14-12. The two teams ran into each other twice in the United Arab Emirates a year ago, with Punjab Kings arising victorious on both occasions.

Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings' batting frailties were uncovered in their games against Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Kolkata Knight Riders, where they imploded after KL Rahul returned to the pavilion early. They need to include Dawid Malan into the playing XI to give some stoutness to their batting setup and give them some possibility of reviving their mission after a flimsy beginning.

Their bowling hasn't been poor, as such, however, they need to get the overseas workforce, as Jhye Richardson, Riley Meredith, and Chris Jordan have not conveyed with the ball.

Probable XI: KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Dawid Malan/Nicholas Pooran, Deepak Hooda, Shahrukh Khan, Moises Henriques, Chris Jordan/Riley Meredith, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

Royal Challengers Bangalore could stay with a similar playing XI they went in within their last game. Albeit, the captain will attempt to get back among the runs as he hasn't had an extraordinary effect, in the midst of opening the batting.

AB de Villiers has scored 692 runs for RCB in matches against Punjab while Virat Kohli has amassed 681 runs versus Punjab Kings.

Mohammed Siraj's experience with the Indian team has transformed him into a pristine bowler and Harshal Patel is fleeing with the purple cap. The RCB bowlers kept things generally tight and got wickets at standard spans. Among the bowlers, Yuzvendra Chahal has excused 21 Punjab Kings batters in his vocation.

Probable XI: Virat Kohli, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell, AB de Villiers, Washington Sundar, Daniel Sams, Kyle Jamieson, Harshal Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Siraj.

With two valuable points up for grabs, we ought to be in for a cracking challenge at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

After an assurance-boosting victory against the Mumbai Indians, the Punjab Kings will commence their Ahmedabad leg of IPL 2021 versus the Kolkata Knight Riders at Narendra Modi Stadium.

Punjab Kings are coming on the back of a spirit-boosting nine-wicket win over Mumbai Indians. Kolkata Knight Riders, in the meantime, have persevered through an extreme beginning to their mission, losing four games on the jog subsequent to winning their opener.

This venue facilitated two Test matches among India and England this year, where the spinners ruled. In any case, the batsmen dominated the bowlers in the ensuing 5-match T20I series.

Head to Head

Across the 13 IPL seasons up until now, KKR has confronted Punjab Kings for 27 matches up until this point. Out of which KKR have arisen successful multiple times totally ruling Punjab Kings. The Punjab Kings have been able to win only 9 of them.

Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul played four matches at Narendra Modi Stadium during the England T20I series. The right-hand batsman grappled as he scored just 15 runs at a strike rate of 48.38.

KL Rahul's Punjab teammate Chris Jordan scalped four wickets for England in the five T20Is against India.

The Punjab Kings shouldn't go amiss much from their victorious blend. Jhye Richardson could return to the side instead of Fabian Allen, taking a gander at the conditions on offer. Else, they should handle an unaltered XI.

Probable XI: KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, Deepak Hooda, Moises Henriques, Shahrukh Khan, Jhye Richardson/Riley Meredith, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh, Ravi Bishnoi.

Kolkata Knight Riders

Shubman Gill has three half-centuries in five innings against Punjab, having scored 209 runs at an average of 104.50 and the youngster would be keen to start off well.

If the top three can give a strong stage, Eoin Morgan, Andre Russell, and Dinesh Karthik have sufficient capability to assemble a high rise. However, for that to occur, the Knight Riders should guarantee the triplet face enough balls to have an effect.

Sunil Narine has bagged 28 wickets against Punjab. His 28 wickets have come at an average of 18.18 while he has an economy of 6.97 against Punjab Kings.

Probable XI: Nitish Rana, Shubman Gill, Rahul Tripathi, Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, Harbhajan Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, Shivam Mavi

It will be intriguing to see how different players of the two teams perform at this enigmatic venue, Punjab Kings, with their momentum, start as the top picks. They look more settled collectively, and if their top-order fires, they'll extravagant their odds of beating a striving Kolkata Knight Riders team.

The Mumbai Indians caused a stir when they sent Ishan Kishan over an in-form Suryakumar Yadav against the Punjab Kings.

Ishan Kishan couldn't get moving in the center as he made his way back to the pavilion scoring six runs off 17 deliveries. Then, Suryakumar Yadav sewed up a great 79-run partnership with Rohit Sharma in the wake of coming out to bat at number four.

Answering in the post-match press conference, Suryakumar Yadav clarified the explanation for Ishan Kishan's advancement in the batting order.

"Ishan Kishan's promotion was completely a management's call and we decided collectively that if a left-hander gets out then a left-hander walks in. He and I have been playing a similar role in the past few years. So, I was completely okay with it. We both decided we'll do the same way what everyone decides and we were clear in our plans very much," said Suryakumar Yadav.

PBKS have endured three extensive losses following the restricted win in their competition opener. Then, Mumbai Indians have won two out of their four games and are falling off a misfortune to the Delhi Capitals in which the reigning champs' middle-order unhinged against the trickiness of leg-spinner Amit Mishra.

The wicket at the Chepauk has seen a great deal of action in a limited time and could be dry and worn out. The ball should turn well, so another low-scoring challenge can be anticipated.

Punjab Kings
PBKS' bowlers have had a standard excursion, however, it's their conflicting performances with the bat that have intensified their hardships. While KL Rahul is relied upon to be aggressive and anchor the innings, simultaneously, the reality stays that his dismissals will in general leave the team uncovered.

Thinking about their affinity to slash and change, it will not be a shock if Dawid Malan makes the playing XI for this game, as his essence could permit Rahul to play with somewhat more opportunity at the top. While PBKS will hope to adjust to the conditions at the Chepauk better, they'll likewise hope to misuse MI center middle-order battles at this venue.

Mohammed Shami is the most experienced speed bowler for the Punjab Kings. He has scalped 8 wickets from only 4 innings against the Mumbai Indians. The expert Indian quick bowler began the IPL 2021 season well with 4 wickets from the initial two games yet has seen a dunk in structure from that point forward. Shami will need to rapidly adjust to the line and length and aim for a superior excursion against Mumbai Indians.

Probable XI: KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, Deepak Hooda, Moises Henriques, Shahrukh Khan, Fabian Allen, M Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh.

Mumbai Indians
Rohit Sharma has scored 138 runs in four outings at Chepauk this year - the most by any Mumbai Indians batsman. The defending champs would need Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma, two players who haven't been influenced much by the gradualness of the track, to take care of business against PBKS.

The significant explanation for the accomplishment of the Mumbai Indians in the IPL is their solid bowling center. Jasprit Bumrah stands out against PBKS with 17 scalps from 12 innings. In view of his steady bowling and the varieties he carries with his bouncers and yorkers, he is certainly the one to look out for.

Pollard is the highest run-scorer for the Mumbai Indians against Punjab Kings with 498 runs from 20 innings at an SR of 164.90 and a normal of 38.31. Then, Rahul Chahar has taken eight wickets in four matches at MA Chidambaram Stadium. The in-structure leg-spinner has 4 wickets from only 3 games against the Punjab Kings and will be hoping to add a few more to his count.

Probable XI: Quinton de Kock, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Rahul Chahar, Jayant Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult

Both Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians will hope to end the Chennai leg of their IPL 2021 mission on a high when they take on one another on Friday.

IPL 2021 - KL Rahul's Punjab Kings to lock horns with Rohit Sharma's Mumbai Indians

Ajit Agarkar has brought up issue stamps over Chris Gayle's position in the Punjab Kings' playing XI. PBKS capitulated to their third sequential loss in IPL 2021 after their nine-wicket misfortune against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Chris Gayle began his IPL 2021 mission from a positive point of view, scoring a quickfire 40 off 28 balls against the Rajasthan Royals. Be that as it may, from that point forward, the southpaw has just amassed a day and a half in three games.

Previous India pacer Ajit Agarkar recognized that dropping Gayle from PBKS' playing XI would be an intense choice, allowed the 41-year-old's great presentation with the bat last season.

"He got 40 in the first game. The challenge with Chris Gayle is that he did not play the first few games last season and then came back and he was as good as ever. So I can understand it is a difficult decision to sit him out. If he is it and when he has done well, you always want to accommodate him. How long can you go on if he is not firing, especially at this stage of his career?” said Ajit Agarkar.

Last season, Punjab Kings (at that point Kings XI Punjab) got off to a terrible beginning, winning only one of their initial seven games. Nonetheless, they figured out how to make something happen and win their next five matches on the skip. Punjab's adjustment of fortune agreed with the incorporation of Chris Gayle, who scored 288 runs in seven games at a normal of 41.14.

Punjab Kings' associate mentor Andy Flower recognized Chris Gayle's powerlessness to run fast singles and twos go about as a debilitation for PBKS in Chennai. Playing forceful strokes has been hard on the MA Chidambaram pitch, with the ball holding and turning on the track.

In such conditions, picking holes and pivoting the strike regularly gets fundamental, with Flower demanding that in a perfect world, groups would need fast sprinters in the center.

With a gifted batsman like Dawid Malan standing ready, it stays not yet clear how long the Punjab Kings will continue with Chris Gayle in their playing XI.

IPL 2021 - Ajit Agarkar questions Chris Gayle's spot Punjab Kings playing XI

Punjab Kings scored 195 but Delhi Capital overhauled them in style with ten balls to spare. DC opener Shikhar Dhawan seemed to have a few tricks left as he scored a majestic 92 off just 49, dominating the bowling.

As Michael Vaughan said on Cricbuzz Live during the post-match analysis, " He knew what the ball was going to do...that's what great T20 players can do. They can think ahead of the bowler….brilliant batting.”

Talking of Dhawan, Joy Bhattacharya added, " If you look at the chase,195 is a chase but he never lets it go out of reach. He accelerated so well. He manipulated the fielders as beautifully as Brian Lara. It was like a chess game out there. He was so far ahead of them.”

Both Vaughan and Joy Bhattacharya were not comfortable with KL Rahul scoring 61 off 51 balls.

Vaughan opined, “In 20 - 20 cricket, you have to bat fearlessly. You cannot have a number. That is the old school way of thinking. In the new era of cricket, you know you can make mistakes but you have to go for it.”

As Joy explained, "61 runs off 51 balls is just a strike rate of 120. If your set batsman is scoring at 120 then what chance do other batsmen have? Rahul cannot afford it. If you hit a six you do not rotate strike. If you get a chance, hit another six.”

As Vaughan put it, “To be brutally honest, Punjab should have scored 220-25 on that pitch. Even then they may have lost but they did fall short. Be brave, T20 cricket is a game for the madman."

At the end of 11 games, RCB are at the top with 6 points and remain unbeaten. Delhi and Mumbai are at 4 points each but the battle for the 4th spot is still on with Chennai having the best chance with a net run rate of 0.61. Hyderabad, one of the favourites at the beginning of the tournament for the playoffs, languishes at the bottom of the table without opening the account.

Kings XI Punjab set a big total of 195 runs after a 122-run opening stand between KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal. Mayank was off to a great start and was hitting the ball all around the park, whereas, Rahul anchored the innings. However, KL failed to push his strike rate even as the 10-over mark passed. Pooran extended his poor show with just nine runs off 8 balls.

Deepak Hooda and Shahrukh Khan's power-hitting powered Punjab Kings to 195 runs after the end of the first innings.

Delhi Capitals, in return, had a flying start with both the batsmen (Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw) smashing the ball out of the park.

Shikhar Dhawan's splendid 92 runs was a fatal blow to the Punjab Kings and he has been adjudged the Man of the Match for his knock.

Delhi Capitals easily chased the target with 10 balls to spare. Punjab Kings, however, bowled several lose deliveries and no balls.

During the after-match presentation, the birthday boy and Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul said: "Victory would have been sweet, so it's slightly disappointing. But we have a lot of games, so hopefully, we come back stronger and win few games. Right now it looks 10-15 runs short, but I think 190-odd looked good."

He talked about the challenging conditions while defending at the Wankhede.

"When we come to Wankhede, bowling second is always a challenge. We prepare for such conditions. It does get difficult against these quality batters. I'm not saying that because I'm on the losing side. Bowlers try to bowl with the wet ball, but it's always difficult to do that."
