Peace with India and its immediate neighbours is set to be the central theme of Pakistan’s first-ever National Security Policy that is scheduled to be unveiled by Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday.

The 100-page policy document has also put out elaborate plans to open trade and business ties with India without final settlement of the Kashmir issue, Pakistan-based newspaper Express Tribune reported on Tuesday quoting an official.

“Only a part of the national security policy will be made public,” the official clarified, saying in the rest of the world such policies often remained classified.

The official stressed that normalising commercial relations is contingent upon achieving progress in talks between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

“We are not seeking hostility with India for the next 100 years. The new policy seeks peace with immediate neighbours,” the official, who is associated with the development, was quoted as saying.

“Economic security will be the central theme of the new national security policy…. But geo-economics does not necessarily mean we overlook our geo-strategic and geo-political interests,” the official said.

The official further said that the Kashmir issue with India has been identified as a ‘vital national policy’ issue for Pakistan.

The official, however, clarified that there were no prospects of rapprochement with India under the current Modi-led government in New Delhi.

The country’s new National Security Policy would act as an umbrella document, to be used as a guideline for Pakistan`s foreign, international and defence related policies, he said.

Pakistan and India have mostly been at loggerheads with each other throughout history.

During the first term of Narendra Modi in 2014, the relations took a positive turn when he announced his intentions to have cordial relations with Pakistan.

He had also visited Islamabad in 2015 unannounced to attend a marriage ceremony in Sharif’s family.

However, the relations between the two countries turned south following the horrific 2016 Uri attacks in which four terrorists launched grenade attacks on Indian Army soldiers in the Indian's Jammu and Kashmir on 18 September.

The attack killed 19 soldiers and injured 19–30 others. It was reported as “the deadliest attack on security forces in Kashmir in two decades”.

Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed was involved in the planning and execution of the attack.

Pakistan’s new national security policy seeks ‘peace with India for the next 100 years’

On January 5 (Wednesday), there was a huge outrage when Prime Minister Narendra Modi's convoy was stuck on a flyover in Punjab, for close to 20 minutes, due to farmers' protest. As a result, PM Modi returned to the airport in Bathinda following the lapse. Thus, this led to many reactions across the nation.

Indian badminton star Saina Nehwal also reacted to the development before actor Siddharth -- most famously known for his role in Bollywood cult classis Rang De Basanti -- joined in and left a distasteful comment on her Twitter post. Saina had tweeted saying, "No nation can claim itself to be safe if the security of its own PM gets compromised. I condemn, in the strongest words possible, the cowardly attack on PM Modi by anrachists." To this, the actor replied by saying, "Subtle cock champion of the world Thank God we have protectors of India (sic)."

Siddharth later also issued a clarification, defending his tweet by saying:

Despite Siddharth's clarification on his tweets -- which have been deemed as sexist and derogatory -- the National Commission for Women (NCW) has urged the DGP Maharashtra to look into the matter and take action against the actor.

"The Commission condemns such lewd and inappropriate remarks made by actor Siddharth and requires you, to immediately investigate the matter and register FIR under the aforementioned provision of Indian Penal Code, 1860 and Information Technology Act, 2000 along-with other relevant provisions of the law. The Police must take prompt and strict action against such persons using indecent language for women on social media," the Commission said.

The Commission said that Siddharth's comments invited Section 354A of the Indian Penal Code, covering Sexual Harassment and Punishment for Sexual Harassment in addition to Section 67 of The Information Technology Act, 2000 for Punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form.

For the unversed, even Saina reacted to Siddharth's response. "Ya I’m not sure what he meant. I used to like him as an actor but this was not nice. He can express himself with better words but I guess it’s Twitter and you remain noticed with such words and comments. If the security of the PM of India is an issue then I’m not sure what is secure in the country," the star shuttler said while talking to News18.com

On the other hand, Siddharth remains a firm critic of the Indian government and is vocal on various developments taking place in the country.

As spike in Covid cases continues, Indian PM Narendra Modi to chair review meeting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's cavalcade was stranded on a flyover, 30 kilometres from Hussainiwala in Punjab, after a group of protesting farmers blocked his route, sparking a political brawl between the BJP and the Congress on Wednesday.

Apart from the political conflict, it has spawned a debate about the security challenges that the Prime Minister may encounter if politics continues to jeopardise national security.

Here are the current details on this enflamed topic that we are aware of:

The farmer’s union, Bhartiya Kisan Union (Krantikari) has admitted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy was delayed by its workers.

"At about 2 PM, we learned that the Prime Minister would be coming by road from Bathinda. There was a big helipad near the rally site. And the police said he was coming by road. So we thought that the police were lying and that the Prime Minister would be coming by air. That is why we did not clear the road. We said you are lying," Surjit Singh Phool, chief of Bharatiya Kisan Union-Krantikari said.

PM Narendra Modi: India has emerged to be the second biggest startup hub in the world

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has got a massive security update.

According to reports, the Indian prime minister has added the armoured Mercedes-Maybach S650 Guard to his cavalcade of Range Rover Vogue and the Toyota Land Cruiser that served him over the past couple of years.

Modi was first spotted with the new car at Hyderabad House in Delhi while welcoming Russian President Vladimir Putin, who was on a two-day visit to India. The vehicle again made an appearance in the convoy of Modi’s rally recently.

Certified with VR10-level protection, the Mercedes-Maybach S650 Guard offers the highest level of protection available on a production car.

As per reports, the car’s windows are coated with polycarbonate and can withstand hardened steel core bullets

It has received a 2010 Explosion Proof Vehicle (ERV) rating, which means that the sedan has the ability to protect the occupants from a 15kg TNT explosion from a distance of only 2 meters.

The interior of the window is coated with polycarbonate and the vehicle’s lower part is heavily armoured to protect the occupants from direct explosions.

The cabin also receives a separate air supply in case of a gas attack.

The car is also equipped with special run-flat tyres that will continue to function in case of damage or puncture to ensure a quick getaway.

The S650 Guard is powered by a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 engine that produces 516bhp and a peak torque of approximately 900Nm. The maximum speed is limited to 160kmph.

The S650 Guard has all the conforms that are expected of the standard Maybach S-Class, including the plush interior with seat massagers, while the seats themselves have been repositioned for enhanced legroom.

Mercedes-Maybach launched the S600 Guard in India last year for Rs 10.5 crore and the S650 can cost more than Rs 12 crore.

However, the cost of the vehicle modified for the prime minister is unknown.

PM Modi was speaking during a political rally in one of the most popular cities in India's northern state Uttar Pradesh - Varanasi, from where he appealed to farmers to adopt natural farming and also called for strengthening the dairy sector.

"We need to strengthen the dairy sector. The Banas Kashi Sankul will benefit dairy farmers from several adjoining districts. The dairy plant will also have a bio-gas plant that will take care of its power needs. The dairy farmers will now be able to sell cow dung for the bio-gas plant at a good price," he added.

The Indian Prime Minister also said that milk committees and collection centres would be set up and certification of purity would also be done.

Earlier, the Prime Minister launched a portal and a logo dedicated to the Conformity Assessment Scheme of milk products, developed by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) with the help of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).

The unified logo, featuring both the BIS logo and the NDDB quality mark, will simplify the certification process for the dairy sector and reassure the public about dairy product quality.

India's Kerala High Court has dismissed a plea on Tuesday (December 21) seeking removal of the country's PM Narendra Modi's photo from the coronavirus (COVID-19) immunisation certificates.

The petition was dismissed with a fine of $1320 (INR 100,000). The Court stated that it was "frivolous" and had "ulterior motives" and also called it "publicity oriented" and indicated that the petitioner probably also had a "political agenda".

Justice PV Kunhikrishnan said: "This is a frivolous petition filed with ulterior motives and I have a strong doubt that there is political agenda also to petitioner. According to me, this is a publicity oriented litigation. Therefore, this is a fit case that is to be dismissed with a heavy cost."

Kerala High Court also highlighted the point that during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, vaccines are playing an important role in curbing the spread of the virus and boosting people's immunity against it.
