<p>By June 14, 2019, Alanis had reached 116 viewings — or the equivalent of over 40 workdays watching the film — all while working as a supervisor at his family's construction business. At the time, he even told a local outlet his goal was to hit 200. Previously, the record was held by YouTuber NemRaps, who watched Avengers: Infinity War 103 times and inspired Alanis to surpass that feat.<br />

<p>Amidst Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes’ (Sebastian Stan) efforts to take down the Flag-Smashers, they discover the border-breaking organization comprises supersoldiers. This leads Bucky to reveal a secret to Sam, one he kept even from Steve Rogers: America had another supersoldier that it used, and later abused, during the Korean War: Isaiah Bradley.&nbsp;</p>

<p>So what is the truth behind Isaiah? In 2003, Marvel Comics published 'Truth: Red, White &amp; Black', a miniseries written by the late Robert Morales and illustrated by Kyle Baker. It was then revealed that Steve Rogers was not the first, or only, soldier to undergo Project Rebirth during World War II. The US government experimented on 300 Black soldiers in an attempt to re-create the supersoldier serum in 1942. What eventually became the supersoldier serum was originally intended to cull “less desirable” bloodlines, sterilizing ethnic groups and people with disabilities. The research later became the basis for the Nazis’ eugenics experiments.</p>

<p>According to Hollywood Reporter, Morales posited that the US government and the Nazis had more in common than most would care to believe and that both systems are a business founded on class control for the benefit of the white and wealthy. Following the death of his squadmates who’d also survived the experiments and body horror that came with them, Isaiah Bradley became the government’s weapon, facing all the obstacles but receiving none of the glory that Steve Rogers received. And when the government was done with Bradley, they imprisoned him for 17 years for stealing Captain America’s uniform. They sterilized him and harvested his sperm and blood for further experiments, while denying him the treatment required for the side effects of the serum, leaving him with the mental capabilities of a child when he was eventually pardoned in the ’70s.</p>

<p>In the Marvel world, Truth was deemed controversial as many believed that it ruined Steve Rogers’ legacy, as well as racists incensed by the powerful image of a Black man clad in the Captain America uniform. Unlike Marvel's other work, Truth was also brutal and tragic. &nbsp;</p>

Christopher Priest and Joe Bennett introduced the son of Isaiah Bradley, Josiah X, in summer 2003, immediately after Truth reached its conclusion. In 2005, Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung introduced Elijah Bradley, the grandson of Isaiah who took up the role of the Patriot as a member of the Young Avengers.</p>

<p>When Disney purchased Marvel in 2009, Truth went out of print and hasn’t been republished since, though it was recently released digitally on Marvel Unlimited and ComiXology as of last year. Josiah X hasn’t appeared since 2004, Elijah Bradley since 2012, and a new character, Rayshaun Lucas, has taken up the mantle of Patriot. A decade after it debuted, Truth became a hard-to-find collector’s item, the Black Captain America, a piece of little-known trivia, and the character’s name and the legacy left largely unmentioned in the pages of Marvel Comics. Later in the episode, Sam brings forth his side as to why he chose to give up the shield, bestowed upon him by Cap himself. How conflicted he feels about representing America, when he is yet to forgive the nation for its treatment and prejudices for a black man.&nbsp;</p>

The scene very well presents the reality of times and the fact that a Disney show, that stayed away from the controversy surrounding its favourite superhero, made a deliberate attempt to understand the life and pains of a Black hero.&nbsp;<br />

Given the nature of the super serum and its anti-aging effects, we have to wonder if Bradley, who does look much older than Rogers or Barnes, was given the supersoldier serum before Rogers was. Bucky may not have met him until the Korean War, but that doesn’t mean Isaiah Bradley didn’t exist as a supersoldier until then, especially if we consider how hesitant the government was to use Steve Rogers as anything more than a mascot until he took action himself. A Black man with the supersoldier serum who could serve as neither a mascot nor a hero would’ve likely been kept off the table until he could have been used in secrecy, without the pomp and prestige of being America’s star-spangled man.&nbsp;</p>

Winter Soldier co-creator Ed Brubaker admitted in a newsletter that he has “mixed feelings” about the show and his role as a character creator, as reported by Variety.</p>

<p>“Everyone at Marvel Studios that I’ve ever met (all the way up to Kevin Feige) have been nothing but kind to me… but at the same time, for the most part, all Steve Epting and I have gotten for creating the Winter Soldier and his storyline is a ‘thanks’ here or there, and over the years that’s become harder and harder to live with,” he explained in his newsletter.</p>

<p>Brubaker and Epting’s Winter Soldier first debuted in the 'Captain America #1'&nbsp;comic in 2004. In the new series, Anthony Mackie plays Falcon and Sebastian Stan reprises the role of Winter Soldier/ Bucky Barnes. Brubaker praised the two actors and the kindness of everyone he has met at Marvel Studios, acknowledging the upside of his writing career.<br />

The wait is over! Marvel is back on its toes with 'The Falcon and The Winter Soldier', and unlike 'WandaVision', this series gets you the old Marvel Cinematic Universe’s flavour, right from the start. While fans anticipated a major Captain America’-kind hangover from the series (considering both Falcon and The Winter Soldier have been Steve’s long-standing allies from their start in the MCU- the series goes beyond it.</p>

<p>The shadow of Steve Rogers stands tall as both Sam (Falcon) and James Barnes (The Winter Soldier) are trying to readjust to their lives post the blip that took away USA’s beloved superhero. With Captain America gone, Falcon is struggling to keep the shield bestowed upon him from the man himself, and Barnes is trying to amend his life after the atrocities he caused as the pawn of the HYDRA, taking out family time and visiting a therapist respectively.</p>

<p>The show that’s going to have six episodes has been created by Malcolm Spellman and brings Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie to reprise their roles from Phase 3 of Marvel Cinematic Universe. Also early on in the episodes, fans are given a treat in the form of War Machine aka Don Cheadle, as an ally to Falcon. The first episode majorly deals with the lead characters going through a hard time and trying to come to terms with the events that altered their and the world’s lives post Infinity War (cue, high profile US Military missions right from the first frame and some major emotional turmoil).<br />

<p>The first episode starts the string of events in Marvel’s patent way of embodying thrill and trauma with a lot of baggage, keeping the viewers hooked and asking for more. There’s action, drama, a bit of cheeky humour, and a cliffhanger to keep the fans asking for more. Also, expected, are a lot of old cameos and the introduction of new key characters who are going to take the camaraderie between the two leading men, to another level.<br />

<p>The episode ends with John. F Walker manning the shield as the new Captain America, much to the dismay of Falcon, who is of the belief that no one can ever fill Steve Rogers’ shoes. The world is now broken and the world needs soldiers, but that doesn’t mean MCU fans have to completely let go of the old Marvel ways.<br />

After a renovated and refurbished started to Phase 4 with a quirky and magical Wanda Vision, Falcon and The Winter Soldier’s premiere episode brings Marvel back to its known roots, only to take a jump higher in the upcoming episodes (expect a lot of SHIELD cameos incoming and the introduction of the villain man who caused the rift between our two favourites - Iron-Man and Captain America)<br />

<p>There’s a lot of unpacking to be done, but the box has been opened cleanly and engagingly by the series makers. The only thing to keep in mind here is, this series will play out the values of Captain America, by two of the most impulsive Avengers. If anything, that promises a lot of friction and in-turn fun in the most ‘Marvelous’ fashion.</p>

With Captain America gone, Falcon is struggling to keep the shield bestowed upon him from the man himself, and Barnes is trying to amend his life after the atrocities he caused as the pawn of the HYDRA, taking out family time and visiting a therapist respectively. The show that’s going to have six episodes has been created by Malcolm Spellman and brings Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie to reprise their roles from Phase 3 of Marvel Cinematic Universe. Also early on in the episodes, fans are given a treat in the form of War Machine aka Don Cheadle, as an ally to Falcon. The first episode majorly deals with the lead characters going through a hard time and trying to come to terms with the events that altered their and the world’s lives post Infinity War (cue, high profile US Military missions right from the first frame and some major emotional turmoil). The first episode starts the string of events in Marvel’s patent way of embodying thrill and trauma with a lot of baggage, keeping the viewers hooked and asking for more. There’s action, drama, a bit of cheeky humour, and a cliffhanger to keep the fans asking for more. Also, expected, are a lot of old cameos and the introduction of new key characters who are going to take the camaraderie between the two leading men, to another level. The world is now broken and the world needs soldiers, but that doesn’t mean MCU fans have to completely let go of the old Marvel ways. <p>Titled 'Anti-Asian Racism Is Very Real,'&nbsp;the 31-year-old star&nbsp;of the much-awaited 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,'&nbsp;wrote that he "(worried) a lot about (his) parents these days," due to the increasing hate crimes against Asian-Americans that have surfaced in 2020.</p>

<p>"I fear for my parents' safety because of a virus, although perhaps not the one you're thinking of. I'm talking about the hate crimes being committed against Asian people at an alarming rate over the past year," Liu wrote.</p>

<p>According to Insider, Liu highlighted the violent racist attacks against Asian Americans in 2020, noting a statistic on "Stop Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Hate," a website that tracks anti-Asian violence, which indicated that there were 2,800 reported cases of racism and discrimination between March 19 and December 31 last year across 47 states and Washington DC.</p>

<p>The AAPI released a report which noted that a majority of these incidents were cases of verbal harassment. Around 9% of the incidents involved physical violence, and 6% included being coughed or spit on.</p>

<p>"Racism doesn't always come in the form of a white hood and a pitchfork; it's just not that simple," Liu said.</p>

<p>"Anti-Asian racism is very real, and it will not be solved with an opulent rom-com or Marvel superhero, but with you - the bystanders - acknowledging the validity of our pain," he added.</p>

<p>Liu referenced significant attacks on Asian Americans, primarily targeting women and elderly people, that have happened in major US cities in the last few weeks.</p>

<p>Slate reported that Vicha Ratanapakdee, 84, died after he was shoved to the ground in January when he was out taking a walk in San Francisco. Separately, Noel Quintana, a 61-year-old Filipino man, was slashed from cheek to cheek with a box cutter on the subway in Manhattan in February.</p>

<p>The Guardian also reported on an assault on a 91-year-old Asian man in northern California in January, where he was violently shoved to the ground when walking through Oakland's Chinatown.</p>

<p>According to an article by The Hill, there has been a significant correlation between the start of the COVID pandemic and a rise in hate crimes against Asian Americans.</p>

<p>Other Hollywood stars like Daniel Dae Kim, Daniel Wu, and Gemma Chan have joined Liu in speaking out against anti-Asian hate crimes.</p>

<p>"The number of hate crimes against Asian Americans continues to skyrocket, despite our repeated pleas for help," Kim wrote in an Instagram post. "The crimes are too often ignored and even excused... #EnoughisEnough."</p>

<p>It's all things Spider-Man this week for Marvel fans. After releasing the title of the much-anticipated film, now the makers have revealed the release date of the third installment featuring our friendly neighborhood&nbsp;hero.&nbsp;<br />

Marvel has officially announced that 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'&nbsp;will arrive in theaters on December&nbsp;17, 2021.</p>

<p>The announcement came along with two other major release-date announcements from Disney, the premiere date of the Disney+ series Loki on June 11, and the latest Star Wars spinoff Star Wars: The Bad Batch on May 4.&nbsp;<br />

<p>Angela Bassett has praised Marvel Studios' decision of not bringing in a new artiste or digitally recreate Chadwick Boseman's likeness for the 'Black Panther' sequel as she believes the late actor is "completely irreplaceable".</p>

<p>The actress played the late actor's mother, Ramonda, in Black Panther, and touched on the recent news that he would not be recast or digitally recreated in the upcoming sequel. Boseman, who died in August at the age of 43 following a quiet battle with colon cancer, starred as T'Challa, a.k.a Black Panther, the king of the technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda. Last month, Disney announced that the studio had no plans of recasting the late actor in Black Panther 2.</p>

<p>According to Disney, the second film will instead look at other aspects of the world in which the characters live. In November, Marvel Studios EVP Victoria Alonso also confirmed that the studio would not digitally recreate Boseman's likeness.</p>

<p>"That's interesting," Bassett told ET while promoting the new season of 9-1-1, about her thoughts on not recasting or using CGI for Boseman's role. "Well I had not thought about that idea, but of course it is Wakanda and they are, in terms of technology, they are so far ahead of the rest of the world that they would be able to bring some of that."</p>

<p>"It's a tremendous loss but [President of Marvel Studios] Kevin [Feige] and the Marvel universe and Ryan [Coogler], the director, the writer from before, they are committed to telling [a story] and equally as much as we can, equally planned," she continued. "So we are looking forward to that. Looking forward to what they come up with."<br />
<br />
Bassett added that people involved in the film "have to do a major pivot and they are still working on that now because none of us knew anything.".&nbsp;She said the love people have for Boseman cannot be duplicated. "Our brother held it really close, really close to the chest. But his legacy, his loss, the love and appreciation that we have for who he was, and what he shared with us cannot be (replaced).&nbsp;It is missed and appreciated and cannot be duplicated. It's a tremendous honor and, yes, he is completely irreplaceable."</p>

<p>After Boseman's death, Bassett posted an emotional tribute to her onscreen son and co-star.<br />

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mohamed Diab will&nbsp;direct the series and serve as showrunner. Benson and Moorhead will direct “several episodes,” while The Umbrella Academy‘s Jeremy Slater is running the writer’s room.<br />

Created in 1975, Moon Knight is like Marvel’s Batman – a millionaire who fights crime using cool gadgets. The character’s alter ego is “Marc Spector, an ex-Marine turned mercenary whose multiple alter egos allow him to better fight crime,” and in the comics, it’s been revealed that Spector is “a conduit for the Egyptian moon god Khonshu.”&nbsp;</p>

Oscar Isaac is set to star in Moon Knight, which follows “an ex-Marine turned mercenary whose multiple alter egos allow him to better fight crime.” Benson and Moorhead join the project alongside director Mohamed Diab and showrunner Jeremy Slater. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mohamed Diab will direct the series and serve as showrunner. Benson and Moorhead will direct “several episodes,” while The Umbrella Academy‘s Jeremy Slater is running the writer’s room. Created in 1975, Moon Knight is like Marvel’s Batman – a millionaire who fights crime using cool gadgets. The character’s alter ego is “Marc Spector, an ex-Marine turned mercenary whose multiple alter egos allow him to better fight crime,” and in the comics, it’s been revealed that Spector is “a conduit for the Egyptian moon god Khonshu.” The show is expected to start shooting in Budapest this March. After the Moon Knight news broke, Moorhead wrote on Twitter: “I still can’t quite wake up from this dream I’m having, that we’re directing Oscar Isaac in a Marvel show. It’s really happening.” Moon Knight will likely hit Disney+ in 2022.
