Tensions rise in the Middle East as a war is impending between Iran and Israel. The Jewish state is preparing for an attack on the nuclear facilities in Iran, a move Tehran warns will compel it to retaliate. The Trump administration has already initiated its evacuation for non-essential diplomatic staff from its embassy in Baghdad and is offering voluntary departure for military families stationed in Gulf nations like Bahrain and Kuwait., According to reports from the Washington Post, there is an increasing fear that the talks between Washington and Tehran involving Iran's nuclear program are likely to fall apart. “They are being moved out, because it could be a dangerous place… Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, very simple,” said President Trump.
Nuclear talks on the brink of collapse
The sixth round of nuclear talks between Iran and the United States is scheduled for Sunday, May 15, in Muscat of Oman. However, both sides have lost confidence in the diplomatic talks. As reported by CBS, Israel has repeatedly vowed to attack nuclear sites in Iran. It has created an atmosphere of war. When both sides are preparing for war, there is little room left for diplomacy.

The E3 have had SEVEN YEARS to implement their JCPOA commitments. They have utterly failed, either by design or ineptitude. Instead of displaying remorse or a desire to facilitate diplomacy, the E3 is today promoting confrontation through the absurd demand that Iran must be…— Seyed Abbas Araghchi (@araghchi) June 11, 2025

Moreover, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of Iran, has blamed the E3 countries for their failure to uphold the commitment of the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action). Tehran argues that Europe couldn't keep its promises of shielding Iran from economic sanctions from the US, as it promised in 2015. Notably, the US under the Obama administration had agreed to a deal with Iran to halt its uranium enrichment, but in 2018 Trump administration walked out of that deal. Iran argues that it allows Iran the scope to pursue its enrichment plans. Iran now claims that it has lost faith in the US and the European Union, which is using diplomacy as a delaying tactic as Israel prepares for an attack. Iran has repeatedly demanded guarantees that no future U.S. president could unilaterally leave the deal again, a promise Washington cannot legally make.Under the JCPOA, Iran agreed to cap uranium enrichment at 3.67 per cent, well below the level required for weaponisation and agreed to reduce its stockpile and dismantle key centrifuges. In return US would lift sanctions on oil exports, banking and international trade. But in 2018, since Trump walked out of the deal, calling it the "worst deal ever", imposing sweeping sanctions, Iran increased its enrichment to 20-60 per cent and reduced access to the IAEA inspections. "The E3 have had SEVEN YEARS to implement their JCPOA commitments. They have utterly failed, either by design or ineptitude,” said Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of Iran.Iran warns it will strike back. Defence Minister of Iran Aziz Nasirzadeh warned: “Any attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities will result in a direct, forceful response—U.S. bases and allied positions will be targeted.”For over two decades, Israel had been hell bent on stopping Iran from acquiring nuclear power. It had taken multiple overt and covert operations to achieve the objective, including intelligence, sabotage, targeted assassinations, cyberwarfare, and international lobbying. Even though these actions have seemed to make Iran's enrichment process costlier, slower and more politically volatile, all have failed in the end. Now Western officials fear that Iran is just weeks away from acquiring weapon-grade Uranium enrichment at 90 per cent, which shifts the balance of power in the region and makes Israel extremely insecure, as it was the only nation to hold nuclear weapons in the Middle East.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government narrowly survived as the motion to dissolve the Knesset was defeated by a margin of 61 to 53 on Thursday morning. However, political gridlock continues as some of his coalition members backed the opposition's motion. This was an intense moment in Israeli politics as the vote came in between growing infighting in the coalition.
What is the Global March
A group of people led by citizens of the Maghreb, a Northwest African region, is marching from Tunisia via Libya and Cairo to Rafah in a symbolic effort to draw attention to the Western Media, which has normalised the killing of civilians, children and pressure world leaders to take action on Gaza. The Sumud convoy will be joined by people from 50 different countries in Cairo.“This convoy is not about delivering aid – it’s about delivering a message…A message of solidarity, resistance, and international pressure”, said Haifa Mansura, a Tunisian activist and co-organiser.“It’s not just the silence of Europe we’re confronting – it’s the silence of Arab leaders,” said Tunisian journalist and activist Fadiya Al-Husseini.The Sumud (resilience) Convoy is led by the Coordination of Joint Action for Palestine. Approximately 120 vehicles, nine buses, and roughly 1,700 participants are travelling from Tunisia. They will be joined by volunteers from different countries who will start arriving in Cairo today (June 12), and then travel to the city of Arish, from where they will begin their on-foot march to Rafah on June 15.German lawyer Melanie Schweitzer said that the march is a peaceful civil disobedience movement, and the convoy does not just intend to reach Gaza, but they intend to stage a sit-in at the crossing in Rafah. Irish activist Karen Moynihan said that the organisers have been contacting Egyptian embassies and their national diplomatic missions to ensure safe passage through Cairo. While Egypt has not denied entry, it has asked the convoy to obtain official permits on its journey to Gaza. The protestors are ready to endure hardship as a symbolic consonance and solidarity with the hardship of Gaza's residents, who have been subjected to persecution and slaughter over the last 20 months.
Greta's fall from grace
The meteoric rise of Greta Thunberg as a face of the Green Capitalism arch has met with a significant fall from the grace of Western media, as many in the Western media are calling her an ‘attention-seeking narcissist’, the same media which once allowed her abundant screen time. This is primarily because she was no longer a naive climate justice activist and started to connect the dots that climate justice can not exist in isolation from social justice. She started linking climate change to extractive capitalism of fossil fuel companies, to colonial exploitation of indigenous lands, carbon inequality to racial and class injustice, environmental destruction to military occupation and war economies, silence on Palestine to Western hypocrisy on human rights and justice. This alerted the faces of global capitalism, making them uncomfortable. Before Greta's voyage with Freedom Flotilla, every other voyage had met with a tragic end, notably being attacked and having been intercepted. But this Madleen voyage, even though intercepted, motivated people who are willing to stand for a cause, instead of standing in the way.

Thousands belonging to trade unions, rights groups, medical sectors, and civil society in 50 different countries are gathering in Cairo, Egypt, for the Global March towards the Gaza Strip.

The legacy media parroting the Israeli narrative dismissed Greta Thunberg and the Freedom Flotilla as photo ops, but this might just have set the precedent to protest against the Zionist regime, which has besieged the land of Gaza. The campaign marks a significant moment for the international solidarity as thousands more from trade unions, rights groups, medical sectors, and civil society belonging to 50 different countries are gathering in Cairo, Egypt for the Global march towards the Gaza strip aspiring to end the ethnic cleansing, establish a stable humanitarian corridor and expose Israeli war crimes.

The family of an Israeli soldier shared a video of their son's brutal capture during the October 7 attacks, showing how he was pulled from his tank and captured by the terror group. The mother of Israeli soldier said that she decided to publish the video because she fears that her son has been "left behind", adding that she wants the public to know that he is in a critical situation. Matan Angrest, the Israeli soldier was seen surrounded by a dozen men atop the turret of an Israeli tank. Every mother knows that her kid from the first cry of a baby, we are worried about our children,” the mother said. “It’s the hardest situation for me as a mother.”The family further stressed that their son is suffering from chronic asthma, has untreated burns and has suffered infections during his captivity.Last month, Keith Siegel, the American-Israeli hostage who was released in February, told CNN that he was extremely concerned for Angrest’s physical and mental well-being as the two were held together for more than two months. The mother of Israeli soldier said that her family did not release the video for months at the urging of the Israeli military, but now she feels that she has no choice.“We were quiet about it for a year and a half, but we understood that our quiet is very comfortable to leave Matan behind,” she said.

Hamas has responded to the latest United States proposal for a ceasefire in Gaza, but is not accepting the deal without some changes. A senior Hamas official told The Associated Press that the group is requesting amendments, particularly regarding the timing of hostage releases, the delivery of humanitarian aid, the withdrawal of Israeli forces, and assurances from the US side.“There [are] some notes and amendments to some points, especially on the US guarantees, the timing of hostage release, the delivery of aid and the withdrawal of Israeli forces,” said the official, who spoke anonymously due to the sensitive nature of the negotiations. In a separate statement, Hamas said the deal should include a permanent ceasefire, a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, and the guarantee of sustained aid deliveries. The proposal outlines the release of 10 living hostages and the bodies of 18 others in return for an agreed number of Palestinian prisoners.
Israel agrees to temporary truce as negotiations intensify
While Hamas is asking for revisions, Israeli officials have already given their approval to the temporary truce suggested by Washington. US President Donald Trump noted that negotiators are close to reaching a final agreement.According to Egyptian and Hamas officials, the temporary ceasefire would last 60 days. It would see the release of some of the remaining 58 hostages in Gaza, along with Palestinian detainees, and allow in much-needed food and other aid. These officials spoke on condition of anonymity, as they were not authorised to brief the media.
Food aid looted as Gaza teeters on the brink of famine
Meanwhile, conditions in Gaza continue to worsen. On Saturday, desperation erupted when Palestinians intercepted and emptied dozens of aid trucks. According to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), 77 trucks carrying supplies, mostly flour, were stopped by hungry crowds before they could reach their destinations. The nearly three-month-long Israeli blockade has left more than two million people at risk of starvation. On Friday, UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said that only five truckloads of supplies managed to pass through Kerem Shalom from the Palestinian side, while 60 others had to turn back due to heavy fighting.

After almost two years of the Hamas attack, a new report has emerged, stating that the terror group aimed to derail "normalisation" talks between Israel and Saudi Arabia by launching October 7 attacks and pushing Gaza into war.Hamas chief and Oct. 7 mastermind Yahya Sinwar allegedly told his men that an “extraordinary act” was needed to stop Israel and Saudi Arabia from reaching an agreement, The Wall Street Journal report revealed.Notably, Sinwar was killed last year by the Israeli military. He feared that such a deal between Israel and Saudi would undermine Hamas' cause for the destruction of Israel and the creation of a Palestinian state. The terror group chief ordered his men to immediately prepare for the attack they have been waiting on for two years, according to the new set of documents recovered by the Israeli army. The documents were allegedly found in a tunnel beneath Gaza.
