Jitesh has scored 162 runs in seven innings till now at an impressive strike rate of 167.0. Sehwag praised his performances and even compared his stroke play to VVS Laxman.

Speaking on host Gaurav Kapoor's show Breakfast With Champions, Ishan recalled his family's hilarious reaction after he had bagged a lucrative deal with Mumbai Indians at the IPL 2018 mega auction. Ishan revealed he was relaxed on the auction day and had gone out to play football with his friends but it was not the case with his family, who were overjoyed after he was picked by Mumbai Indians.

"I was chilled out. It was my auction, I should be stressed about it. I had gone to play football with my friends. When the auction ended I got a call from Monu Bhai. He is telling me what all happened at the auction. I was like it's good I have been sold for good money, I should go home and meet everyone," Ishan said on the show.

Three such overs yielded 73 runs and even Bumrah's brilliance didn't seem to be enough in the final context of the match.

And then while bowling, in between overs 14 and 16, Chahal-Ashwin combination gave away only 16 runs and the chase was derailed.

Hogg said Kohli should open the batting with Rohit for India in T20Is while Iyer can bat at number three and Pant can be sent in at number four. The former Australia spinner suggested Rahul be slotted in the middle order while suggesting that Suryakumar, who has been in terrific form over the last few months, can also play at number 5. Hogg said India can then play two all-rounders in Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya at 6 and 7.

"For me, if you're going to have Kohli in the team, he should be opening the batting with Rohit. I'd like to have Shreyas Iyer coming in at No.3 and Pant at No.4. Have to try to get KL Rahul in there as well at some stage. If Pandya is fit, he and Jadeja can feature at No.6 and 7," Hogg said.

In an interview with the Times of India, Kishan said he knew Mumbai Indians would go for him but his heart skipped a beat when the price continued to rise. The wicket-keeper batter said Mumbai Indians needed money to build a good squad and it wasn't just about him at the mega auction.

“I knew MI would go for me. That wasn't the worrying bit. The worrying part was the rising price because MI needed to save on money to build the rest of the team. It wasn't just about me," said Kishan.

"For a minute there, I must admit, my heart skipped a beat. There's a reason why I wanted to come back to MI. They know me, they understand my game and I know my franchise and how it works. During the course of the game, India had some injury concerns. Deepak Chahar got injured while fielding. On the other hand, all-rounder Iyer also incurred a blow on his thumb. While nothing has been confirmed regarding the duo's availability, Shardul Thakur and Avesh Khan or Mohammad Siraj could be drafted into the playing XI in place of Iyer and Chahar, respectively.

India can also bring in Shreyas Iyer or Ruturaj Gaikwad for the KKR opener Venkatesh. However, they might not risk being a bowler short versus a dented WI batting line-up. Hence, Shardul is very likely to replace Iyer if the latter sits out. Rest of the line-up is expected to be unchanged.

The second and penultimate tie will be held at the same venue, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on Friday evening (February 18). The final T20I will also be played here.

“Spending 8 crore on Archer is a huge risk, especially after spending 15 crore on Ishan Kishan. He’s had two elbow surgeries in the last 18 months, that’s the worst injury a fast bowler could have,” said Hogg.

Kishan opened the batting with Rohit in the first ODI of the recently-concluded three-match ODI series against West Indies in the absence of Rahul. He now looks set to once again open the batting with Rohit in the upcoming three-match T20I series against West Indies which gets underway from Wednesday (February 15). Rahul is not a part of the series due to an injury.

Harbhajan recently explained why Kishan should be India's first-choice opener in T20Is while suggesting that Rahul can be slotted in the middle-order which will also give India flexibility in the batting line-up.

"In my opinion, you don't have to prepare Ishan Kishan, he is a ready player. You have to play him, you have to think how you can get him in. If you can bat KL Rahul at No. 5 in ODIs, why not in this format?," Harbhajan said on Star Sports.

Indian pacer Deepak Chahar was the second most expensive pick on the first day of the IPL 2022 mega auction as he was roped back in by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for an insane amount of Rs 14 crore (INR 140 million). Chahar became the most expensive auction signing in CSK's history.

While Mumbai Indians and CSK went big to bring their respective stars, they had a quiet auction otherwise and made calculated moves on Day 1. The likes of Rajasthan Royals, debutant Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings made good use of their large purses in roping in some of the best talents as they enjoyed a brilliant auction on the&nbsp;opening day of the two-day event.

In IPL 2015 auction, he went to the Delhi Daredevils (DD) camp -- now known as the Delhi Capitals (DC) -- whereas he was bought by the three-time runners-up Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs 14 crore (INR 140 million) in the 2014 auction. Deepak Chahar, after being bought back by the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise -- is now also&nbsp;their most expensive IPL signing of all time.&nbsp;
