Pollock further asserted, "I think he maybe just needs to change gears at different times. I don't have an issue with him coming up higher. He is a class player and has got the ability to strike it really well."

Chasing 172, Sunrisers Hyderabad was off to a solid start. But Harshit Rana disrupted the chase by dismissing Mayank Agarwal for 18 off 11 balls. SRH was at 29/1 in 2.5 overs.

Shardul Thakur (2/23) and Vaibhav (2/32) impressed KKR with their bowling. Andre, Anukul, Varun and Harshit got a wicket each.

In the 12th over, Markram was up against Nitish Rana who looked in good form, as he along with Rinku Singh steadied the ship for the visitors having been 35/3 at one point. Having stitched a partnership of 61 runs, SRH were finding it tough to break the partnership. Up stepped skipper Markram as he tried his spin option to get the better of the opposition camp.

On the second ball of the 12th over, Rana lofted the ball high up in the air against the turn and the ball ended up in the mid-off position. Interestingly, with no mid-off in position, Markram ran behind from his bowling position and clutched the ball to pull off a blinder to dismiss Rana for 42.

<h2>What are the rules?</h2>

As things stand, any fine imposed on a player is not deducted directly from the player as the franchisee pays the amount at the end of the season, totaling all the offences throughout the campaign. The match fees acquired by the players are registered with the IPL governing council and thus a fine equivalent to their salary is imposed after being found guilty.

At the end of the season, the franchises have the right to deduct the amount from the player’s salary or not while they make the payments to the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Also if a team is eligible for certain prize money at the end of the campaign, the fine amount is deducted from it rather than the franchise making any payments.

So Virat who bags a whopping Rs 14 crore for a season won’t be paying the amount of fine directly with the decision in RCB’s hands to decide on whether to deduct it from his salary.

Virat will next take center stage on Saturday in his hometown of Delhi as RCB take on Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The IPL fined both the involved parties 100% of their &nbsp;match fees as they were found in the breach of article 2.21 of the tournament's code of conduct, which covers all type of conduct that brings the game into disrepute, including unruly public behaviour. Former India player Virender Sehwag took a jibe at Delhi Capitals’ (DC) approach in the Indian Premier League (IPL) contest against Gujarat Titans (GT) after they faced a horrible batting collapse. Sehwag was not pleased with the batting approach of the DC side while underlining poor selection as the reason for their failure against a resolute GT bowling led by Mohammed Shami.

“Priyam Garg should have sacrificed his wicket because Warner would have scored runs for Delhi, he is the batter in form and would have taken Delhi to a respectable total. Delhi's collapse is down to the poor shot selection. Warner was left unfortunate,” Sehwag said after Delhi’s horrible collapse.

Sehwag also spoke on Axar Patel’s batting position and highlighted that he should have come early. According to Sehwag, the move would have made sense and could have seen DC end with more runs despite early struggles in the contest.

“We all wanted Axar Patel to come in early to bat, so he did. Yes he batted at the same position, but came in the fourth over. But while we expected that he would come early and score 60-70 runs, that didn't happen because he too was under pressure as a lot of wickets had already fallen,” he said.

Interestingly, all three latter dismissals were caught behind as Shami and Saha were at the top of the game. The veteran star ended with figures of 11/4 which saw DC reduced to 23/5.

Shami now has 17 wickets in the IPL 2023 and went level with Tushar Deshpande of CSK while Punjab Kings (PBKS) star Arshdeep Singh, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) man Mohammed Siraj and Shami’s teammate Rashid Khan have 15 wickets each.

With GT sitting in pole position to make the Playoffs, Shami and Rashid will stand a better chance to improve their numbers and thereby stand a better chance of winning the Purple Cap this season. A win for GT will see them go on 14 points which will see them get closer to the last four spot.
