Royal Challengers Bangalore's Kyle Jamieson is having a good run in the ongoing IPL season as the Kiwi scalped six wickets in six matches played thus far. The lanky speedster feels that pressure situations during IPL games will help him in the upcoming T20 World Cup that is scheduled to be hosted in India later this year.

"Absolutely, any experience you can have in this part of the world before the World Cup is valuable. I am not getting carried away, you still have to earn the right to be selected in the T20 World Cup squad. I am trying to soak up as much as I can, I am trying to learn. In the first five-six games we have played, there have been fresh learnings each time. You gain bits and pieces each time you play, being exposed to pressure situations always helps you," said Jamieson during a virtual post-match news conference.

Royal Challengers won a thriller against Delhi Capitals as Virat and Co. regained the top spot after a one-run win.

"It has been good, it has been an eye-opener. I have loved every second of it, pretty fortunate to have an experienced dressing room and yeah, long may that continue. Maybe not one run, but that's sort of T20 cricket, you cannot take it for granted. The run-rate was never at that stage where it was out of reach against the caliber of Pant and Shimron Hetmyer. It was all down to how we execute," said Jamieson.

Jamieson was sold to RCB for whopping INR 15 crore, when asked about the pressure of his hefty price tag, he replied: "Yeah, it's certainly, probably I did not see it at first, I ignored it in my mind, I thought it will be fine. I think the first couple of weeks going through the Australia series, dealing with something of this magnitude has been a process. I think in terms of being here, there is no expectation as such."

"I had a chat with Mike Hesson where it was conveyed to me that I am here to do a role. The first month, probably first six weeks after the auction was tough, I had some learnings from that which will hold me in good stead," he added.

The Delhi Capitals came agonizingly close to Royal Challengers Bangalore's total of 171/5, but fell short by one run here at the Narendra Modi Stadium in the IPL 2021 on Tuesday. Delhi Capitals batsman Shimron Hetmyer, who played a brilliant knock of 53 not-out from 25 balls, expressed that it was a heartbreaking loss for the team.

"I felt we were in the game throughout the time I was in the middle. I felt very good tonight. I thought we could've gotten past whatever they threw at us. We tried our best to take the game as close as we could have, but I guess, it just wasn't our night. It was heartbreaking to be honest. I really think we could have gotten there, but that's how cricket goes. You win some and you lose some and tonight just wasn't ours to cross the line. I think we have a lot to learn from this match," said the 24-year-old.

Hetmyer, who strung an unbeaten 78-run partnership with Rishabh Pant, said that he hopes to get more chances of batting with the Skipper in the upcoming games, "It's much easier to bat with someone whose game is just the same as yours and we run well between the wickets. We had batted together during a match simulation as well. It's always nice to bat with Rishabh and I hope that we continue to get a chance to bat with each other."

Nvidia Corp., the world's most valuable chipmaker, is on the verge of completing a 10-day winning streak, marking its longest run of advances since the record-setting performance in December 2016. The Santa Clara-based company has seen a remarkable climb of approximately 20 per cent during this streak, translating to a staggering addition of about $200 billion in market value, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

This surge occurs amid intense competition as rivals strive to devise alternatives to challenge Nvidia's stronghold in artificial intelligence (AI).

Nvidia's shares have experienced an exceptional rally, surging over 230 per cent this year, solidifying its position as the best-performing component on both the Nasdaq 100 and S&P 500 indexes. The AI-driven frenzy has significantly contributed to this stellar performance, with the latest surge coinciding with a broader rebound in technology stocks. The resurgence in the tech sector is fuelled by optimistic sentiments surrounding the Federal Reserve's indications that interest rates may have reached their peak.

Highlighting Nvidia's commitment to innovation, the company announced the release of its updated chip, the H200, designed to incorporate high-bandwidth memory, known as HBM3e. This enhancement aims to enhance the chip's capacity to handle substantial datasets crucial for AI development and implementation. Blomberg cited Analyst Chris Caso from Wolfe Research, who notes, "NVDA has not refreshed prior datacentre GPUs in the past," emphasising that this update signifies Nvidia's acceleration in response to the growth and performance demands of the AI market.

Bloomberg Intelligence analyst Kunjan Sobhani underscored the significance of Nvidia's swift product-launch pace with the H200 in mid-2024. Sobhani noted that this strategy is poised to "help defend its turf," positioning the new AI processor with high-bandwidth memory as a potential market leader.

Despite facing challenges last month due to new US rules restricting the sale of cutting-edge chips to China, Nvidia has shown resilience and is scheduled to report earnings on November 21.

AB de Villiers is different class, his aura puts bowlers under pressure: Pommie Mbangwa

Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar lauded RCB star AB de Villiers' vital innings that helped Virat and Co. set a good total in the match against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday. Gavaskar called the Proteas ‘amazing’ and ‘magical’.

“It’s amazing. It’s just magical. You can walk around the earth, just to see this man bat because he brings in so much. He gives you so much joy, he makes your jaw drop with the kind of audacity with which he plays some shots,” said Gavaskar on Star Sports after RCB reclaimed the top spot in IPL 2021 points table.

RCB star ABD became the sixth to join the elite list of batsmen with 5,000 runs in the league. He is the only one at a strike rate of more than 150. His power-hitting helped RCB post 171 for 5. They went on to win the match one run after DC managed to score 170 runs.

“When you see a genius like that, you want to go and just watch him carry on. You want to say to the opposition – ‘Listen, why don’t you send him to open the batting because we can get to see more of him rather than him coming in the 10th or the 11th over. Let’s see 20 overs of ABD’, that’s what I, as a former batsman, always say when I see AB de Villiers in this kind of form,” he said.

De Villiers smashed five sixes and three fours. Gavaskar talked about the big hits by the South African. “We talk about the big sixes. There was one shot where he just opened the face of the bat and ramped the ball down to the third man. That was an incredible shot because it was hit literally at the last second when he opened the face of the bat,” he added.

Last-ball thriller grip IPL 2021 as RCB defeat DC

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Tuesday came back to winning ways as they narrowly defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 1 run in what was a last-ball thriller at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. RCB move atop the table after Rishabh Pant and Shimron Hetmyer fell short of taking DC over the winning line.

Batting first, Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal enjoyed a brisk start but the Delhi Capitals bowlers were quick to correct their line and lengths as they sent both the openers packing for 30. While Glenn Maxwell and Rajat Patidar stitched a brief partnership, the Aussie was dismissed by veteran Amit Mishra for 25.

Patidar, who looked impressive with the willow, soon followed after a 31-ball 22. However, it was the majestic AB de Villiers again as he whacked an unbeaten 75 off just 42 deliveries laced by five sixes and three boundaries to help RCB post 171-5. De Villiers’ knock includes a 23-run last over where he hammered Marcus Stoinis for fun. The South African, in the process, crossed the 5,000-run mark in IPL.

In between both the innings, Ahmedabad witnessed a dust storm which caused a brief delay.

Delhi capitals, chasing 172, lost the in-form opener, Shikhar Dhawan, for six as the southpaw was caught off Kyle Jamieson. Steve Smith was next to depart as Mohammed Siraj continued his good run of form while reminding everyone of his dismissal against smith in historic India's tour of Australia. Prithvi shaw played a couple of delightful strokes in his 21-run knock but edged a Harshal Patel delivery, which ideally should have been left.

Rishabh Pant and Marcus Stoinis dealt with a few boundaries but the latter perished after a 17-ball 22. However, it was Shimron Hetmyer, who delivered with the bat as he scored a quickfire half-century with four sixes and two boundaries.

Australian cricketers Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson, who had opted out of the Indian Premier League citing personal reasons, will be flying back to their country on Tuesday night via Doha.

The two are currently in Mumbai while their franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore has moved to Ahmedabad, where it will be taking on Delhi Capitals tonight.

Ricky Ponting (DC) and Simon Katich (Royal Challengers Bangalore) are among the high-profile Australian coaches, while iconic former players such as Matthew Hayden, Brett Lee and Lisa Sthalekar are part of the tournament's commentary team.

The eight-team event is being played in front of empty stands across six venues and has even barred food from outside the designated team hotels in its latest diktats to strengthen the bio-bubble.

With the cases of COVID-19 cases at an all-time high in India, there have been reports of overseas players being worried about the situation in the country and logistical challenges of returning home at the end of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.

In a heartfelt letter, IPL COO Hemang Amin has assured all the players and support staff that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will ensure smooth processing of their return after the T20 tournament comes to an end.

Amin, in the letter accessed and reported by ANI, addressed the concerns of the cricketers while adding that the tournament isn’t over the Indian board till every player reaches home safely.

"We understand that many of you are apprehensive about how you will get back home once the tournament concludes, which is natural and understandable. We want to apprise you that you have nothing to worry about. The BCCI will do everything to ensure that you reach your respective destinations seamlessly. The BCCI is monitoring the situation very closely and is working with the government authorities to make arrangements to get you home once the tournament concludes. Be rest assured that the tournament is not over for BCCI till each one of you has reached your home, safe and sound," the IPL COO wrote.

IPL 2021: KKR end four-match losing streak as Morgan & Co. defeat Punjab Kings

Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday ended their four-match losing streak by defeating Punjab Kings by six wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. KKR now have two wins in six matches in IPL 2021 as they move a spot up from the bottom of the table.

After being invited to bat first, Punjab Kings were off to a watchful start but lost skipper Rahul (19) just before the end of the powerplay. Shivam Mavi was quick to remove Chris Gayle for a golden duck after KKR before Sunil Narine and Prasidh Krishna stuck to remove Mayank Agarwal and Deepak Hooda respectively.

Moises Henriques was also sent packing for two as Narine used his experience to fire a quicker delivery to the Aussie. The likes of Nicholas Pooran (19), Shahrukh Khan (13) added a few handy runs to save PBKS from humiliation.

However, it was Chris Jordan who smashed 30 off 18 to take the Punjab outfit to a respectable total of 123/9 in 20 overs.

“The pitch is definitely keeping low, that's how it started and didn't come on well to the bat. In the last ten overs, dew really starting setting in and there's a lot of dew. It was really tough to grip the ball, few balls were slipping and we had to dry the ball each and every ball,” Varun Chakaravarthy told the host broadcasters during the mid-innings break.

Chasing 124, Kolkata Knight Riders were off to a shaky start as they lost openers Nitish Rana (0) and Shubman Gill (9) for cheap. Sunil Narine, sent to bat at number four, was also sent packing for a four-ball duck. However, skipper Eoin Morgan found some form with the willow and stitched a partnership with Rahul Tripathi to steady the chase. KKR lost Andre Russel after a miscommunication with Morgan. But the southpaw, along with Dinesh Karthik, finished the match for KKR.

Even though it wasn’t an explosive chase by any means, KKR made sure they left the baggage of defeat behind and start the Ahmedabad leg with a much-needed win.

Delhi Capitals pulled off a close match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 in Chennai at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday. After the scores were levelled at 159 by the Sunrisers Hyderabad at the end of their designated 20 overs, Delhi Capitals all-rounder Axar Patel put his hand up to help his team seal the deal in the Super Over.

"After the scores were levelled, I told Rishabh (Pant) that I could bowl well on this wicket, and he could consider me for the Super Over as well. I knew that it was not going to be easy for the batsmen to score runs on this pitch. Then Rishabh spoke to Ricky (Ponting) and they decided to give the ball to me," said the 27-year-old, who conceded just 7 runs in the Super Over.

IPL 2021: Teammates' extensive backing helped me in my comeback match, says Axar Patel

Australia fast bowler and Kolkata Knight Riders player Pat Cummins on Monday issued a statement urging everyone participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 to contribute and help India fight the battle against the COVID-19 surge, which is at a record high in the nation.

Cummins, taking to the social media platforms, said that IPL is providing few hours of joy and respite to people at a time when Indian citizens are in lockdown and fighting to curb the spread of the dreaded virus.

There has been much deliberation on whether the IPL 2021 should continue given the crisis in the country. India is reporting more than 3 lakh COVID-19 cases for the past few days and many are struggling to get medical oxygen and ICU beds in the country.

Meanwhile, four players have already pulled out of IPL 2021 including star players Ravichandran Ashwin, Adam Zampa, Kane Richardson and Andrew Tye. Notably, Cummins also decided to donate $50,000 to PM Cares Fund, specifically to purchase oxygen supplies to India’s hospitals. India star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin withdrew from the Indian Premier League on Sunday to support his family during the Covid-19 pandemic, dealing a significant blow to the glitzy tournament which is taking place despite the country battling rising death rates.

Ashwin, 34, a key Test and ODI player, said he would be taking a break from playing in the lucrative T20 franchise tournament with the Delhi Capitals team.

"My family and extended family are putting up a fight against #COVID19 and I want to support them during these tough times," Ashwin tweeted.

"I expect to return to play if things go in the right direction. Thank you @DelhiCapitals."

Ashwin's decision is a major blow for the money-spinning event which is being held behind closed doors and runs until May 30.

On Sunday, a leading Indian newspaper group suspended coverage of the IPL, calling the tournament "commercialism gone crass" and "incongruous" as the record-breaking pandemic surge grips the country.

Express Publications said in a front-page editorial of its flagship English-language daily, the New Indian Express, that the paper was halting reporting on the Twenty20 event until a "semblance of normalcy is restored".

Delhi said they supported the decision taken by Ashwin.

"Extending our full support to you in these difficult times, @ashwinravi99 Sending you and your family all the strength and prayers from all of us at Delhi Capitals," the team tweeted.

Ashwin has played 77 Tests in a 10-year international career as well as 111 ODIs and 46 T20 Internationals.

He has 409 Test wickets, one of just 16 bowlers in history to break the 400-mark.

Ashwin's Twitter account has over 10 million followers.

His profile page contains the plea: "Stay home stay safe! Take your vaccine."

IPL 2021- Ravindra Jadeja'a all-round performance ends RCB's win-streak

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli wants Ravindra Jadeja to continue performing like the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder did in the Indian Premier League (IPL) match here at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday evening.

Jadeja whacked 37 runs in the final over of CSK`s innings and then came back to pick three wickets as MS Dhoni-led side thrashed RCB by 69 runs.

The all-rounder smashed 62 runs in just 28 balls, with the help of five 6s and four 4s, as CSK scored 191 in their allotted 20 overs.

In reply, RCB managed to score 122/9 and suffered their first defeat of the ongoing IPL.

"I have believed in Jadeja a lot. His ability has been there for everyone to see. He has been out of the team due that injury in Australia and I am happy to see him perform with the bat, ball and in the field," Kohli told host broadcaster Star Sports after the defeat.

"After two months, he will be back playing for India and it is always a pleasure to see your premier all-rounder be in a good space and perform well. I hope he keeps doing more often because when he plays well and is confident, that opens so many options not only for CSK but also for Indian cricket," he added.

In the match, Jadeja took on Harshal Patel, who has been the pick of the RCB bowlers and whacked five sixes in his final over. Harshal had given just 14 runs in three overs before Jadeja came firing on all cylinders in the final six balls of CSK`s innings.

"You have to look at it the right way. I feel this is positive feedback for our side. A performance like this, it is good to get this out early on in the tournament. Our start was decent enough. One guy completely beat us. Today his skill was there for everyone to see," said Kohli.

"He (Harshal) bowled well and we will continue to back him. His two wickets of the set batters took the momentum away from CSK before Jaddu took it away in the final over. We need to look at the loss in the right way.

"I am opening the innings with Dev. We will continue to test our batting depth. As a batting side we are confident. We are gonna switch the roles at some point," the RCB skipper added.

CSK are now at the top of the points table and will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad on Wednesday while RCB will now lock horns with Delhi Capitals on Tuesday.

Jadeja playing well opens many options for Team India, says Kohli

Jadeja whacked 37 runs in the final over of CSK innings before the all-rounder came back to pick three wickets as the side thrashed RCB by 69 runs on Sunday.

"Jaddu is somebody who can change the game on his own. In the last few years, we have seen significant change in batting and it is worth it to give him that extra bit of time, extra deliveries. The bowlers have found it difficult to contain left-handers, and that helps as well. You cannot really predict the quantum of victory. There is no control to how many runs or wickets," Dhoni said after the game.

A business end master-class from Jadeja had powered CSK to 191/4 in their 20 overs. In response, RCB could only manage 122/9, thanks to Jadeja and Imran Tahir`s impeccable bowling performances.

A three-for, a wicket-maiden, and a direct hit with the ball aided by Tahir`s tight bowling helped CSK move to the top of the points table as they toppled RCB.

"When we started we had the conversation about whether to bat or bowl. It was a good wicket but I felt the spinners had something up their sleeves and I felt that extra few runs Jadeja made helped," Dhoni said.

"165 would have been par, and once you get 25 extra the opposition has to come a little harder. You cannot make your strategy on the assumption of what dew will do - frankly, some games have been high scoring, some have been low scoring. You have to assess every game and today we made the right decision to bat," he added.

When asked about what the side is doing differently this season, Dhoni said, "We are not doing anything drastically different from what we did last year. Me and Fleming, we keep saying that we focus on the process. You gain more respect if you keep following your path when you are under pressure. I think that is something that gave a lot of confidence to the players. Credit to the players. Everybody would have felt the pressure in the first game because it was a lean season."

CSK registered their fourth successive win and will now take on SunRisers Hyderabad in Delhi on Wednesday.

But this is a fact that if a player remains in his own and suddenly, he is made the captain, it takes him time to talk to players, mix with them. So that I feel is proving to be difficult for Sanju Samson," Sehwag said about the Rajasthan Royals captain in a video on Cricbuzz.

The outspoken cricketing stalwart listed out few things for Sanju Samson to improve. "When a bowler gets taken for runs, it is important to see how the captain responds. I have noticed this with Rishabh Pant that he goes and keeps his hands on the bowler's shoulders and goes 'It doesn't matter. You'll get hit for 40-50. Tye becomes Rajasthan Royals’ third overseas player to leave the IPL 2021 midway following the footsteps of Ben Stokes (finger injury) and Liam Livingstone (bubble fatigue). The Sanju Samson-led outfit is already without last season’s most valuable player, Jofra Archer, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury.

Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen has said that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be “very competitive” in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. CSK, after suffering their worst-ever IPL season, have started the IPL 2021 campaign strongly with three wins in four matches recorded by the MS Dhoni-led outfit.

Pietersen has now said that Moeen Ali and Faf du Plessis coming into form has changed the perspective of how other teams and fans are looking at the three-time IPL winners. Pietersen further lauded the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, and ‘master captain’ MS Dhoni for managing to start the IPL 2021 campaign in such a good form.

The former England captain added that people weren’t fancying CSK much ahead of the T20 tournament but their form and experience of most of the players have made people change their opinions about the Yellow Army.

He told Betway: “In T20 cricket, you only need a couple of players to be in really good form to get you over the line. I know from experience of playing in these teams that if a couple of batsmen are whacking it out of the park and a couple of bowlers are picking up wickets then they can drag everybody else with them. And so, even though Chennai Super Kings weren’t fancied coming into the IPL, guys like Moeen Ali and Faf Du Plessis coming into form was always going to turn that situation around.

“Ruturaj Gaikwad looks good, Sam Curran is doing the business and MS Dhoni is a masterful captain. Then they’ve got the superstar Ravi Jadeja who seems to be here, there and everywhere. They’ve got really good players, fantastic T20 players, and it’s only taken a few of them to hit form to get them going. They look very competitive in this IPL now.”
