A number of English counties have offered to host the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season in the month of September. IPL 2021 was been postponed indefinitely owing to the rising cases of COVID-19 across teams.

However, the BCCI treasurer said that the Indian cricket board has not discussed their offer as it is "too early".&nbsp;

"We will explore all the options and see when it's feasible to play those matches and take a call at the right time.

"Their offer has not been discussed yet. It's too early. Right now, our immediate plan is finalise the preparation for the Twenty20 World Cup in India later this year," Dhumal told Reuters.

Dhumal went on to add that he is not surprised that the board received several offers from other countries to host it as IPL is big.&nbsp;

"IPL is huge, and everybody wants to host IPL matches. It has a massive fan following even outside India."

"We trust the BCCI will obviously gather as much information as they can when looking at that window around September and obviously keep us all informed.

"We'll be part of the decision-making process as well, just to make sure that when it's rescheduled, the players and everybody involved are in a safe environment," Bangalore's Director of Cricket Operation Mike Hesson had said in a video while talking about the remainder of the campaign.

Holding IPL 2021 amidst the COVID-19 crisis in India is still a raging debate. While some felt that the tournament should have been suspended earlier itself, whereas others thought of it as the only positive thing going on as citizens were placed under lockdown.&nbsp;

However, cases emerged in the bio-secure bubble during the tournament and the cash-rich league had to be suspended indefinitely. The decision was taken by the IPL Governing Council and BCCI.&nbsp;

Kevin Pietersen, who was a commentator for IPL on Star Sports, felt that the T20 tournament was initially "a positive thing for India".&nbsp;

"I definitely bought into the fact that continuing the tournament initially was a positive thing for India. The country is not in a good way but I felt that providing six hours of entertainment each day was certainly a positive thing," Pietersen wrote in his blog on Betway.

"We were doing a job for all of India, creating a show to give people some relief. I thought that the package the players were delivering was fantastic.

"Yes, the wickets were a little slow, certainly in Chennai, but the cricket was still very good.

"Don’t forget that the players and broadcasters are not blind to what was going on in India. There was an awful lot of empathy and desire to help in any way we could, which is why we were so keen to put on the show," he added.

"But once players tested positive then there was going to be an awful lot of pressure on the BCCI to postpone the tournament and I do believe that they had little choice," he signed off.

Former South African skipper said that there were players who were playing in the IPL, but were&nbsp;sitting and not talking about the alarming surge in coronavirus in India.&nbsp;

“You see some of those players sitting there at the IPL and not making any noise. Having had experience of things here you do see some things differently, and [you see] a version of double standards. It’s disappointing,” said Smith as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Graeme Smith went on to say that he had word with South African cricketers who were part of the Indian Premier League and said that they felt safe.&nbsp;

“In no way would we judge. Having spoken to the players, they felt safe. They felt the BSE [Bio-Secure Environment] was a really good experience in India. They never felt at risk. But that’s the nature of what Covid brings,” said Smith.

“Sometimes you can do whatever you want but the BSE – as we’ve said to everyone – is never foolproof. When Covid is raging in your country there’s always a risk. Unfortunately, once it gets inside it’s very difficult to predict what’s going to happen,” concluded Smith.

IPL 2021: CSK skipper MS Dhoni will wait for all his teammates to depart before heading to Ranchi: Reports

A number of English counties have offered to host the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season in the month of September. IPL 2021 was been postponed indefinitely owing to the rising cases of COVID-19 across teams.<o:p></o:p>

The MCC, Surrey, Lancashire, Warwickshire – based at Lord’s – the Kia Oval (London), Edgbaston (Birmingham) and Old Trafford (Manchester) are part of the group of County clubs to have written to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) while inviting them to extend the opportunity to the BCCI, according to ESPNCricinfo.<o:p></o:p>

The plan is to complete the postponed IPL 2021 in around two weeks in the second part of September. <o:p></o:p>

Apart from completing the T20 tournament, the County clubs have pointed out that top players will get high-quality cricket ahead of the T20 World Cup and will ensure the pitches in the UAE are fresh. Notably, UAE is being tipped as an alternate host for IPL 2021.

Moreover, the counties are hoping that the games could be played in front of packed crowds. <o:p></o:p>

However, there are a few hurdles to the plan, as stated in the report. While it is hard to predict what the pandemic will bring next, there is still some time before any final call is taken on the T20 World Cup hosting. The quarantine issue of bringing players and staff from around the world into the UK will be a major challenge. But with a number of Indian players being in the UK at the time for the Test series against England, could be helpful.

IPL 2021: CSK's Michael Hussey, L Balaji air-lifted to Chennai from Delhi

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 was indefinitely postponed on Tuesday due to the multiple COVID-19 cases across teams. While fans and pundits have questions the BCCI for keeping multiple venues for the T20 tournament at a time when India is fighting the second wave of the coronavirus, BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal has said that they would have held the IPL 2021 overseas had they knew this situation was going to arise. <o:p></o:p>

Dhumal said that the series between India and England boosted the confidence that IPL 2021 could be held in multiple venues in India and the board wanted to boost the spirit of the country through the IPL. <o:p></o:p>

The BCCI treasurer further said that no one imagined such a situation would arise and everyone was quite confident of pulling off the tournament. <o:p></o:p>

“In a normal scenario, we would have had more venues, like Indore and Pune. They also used to host IPL games. When we were conducting the England series, everything went so smoothly that we thought that it’s time to take cricket back to each zone. At least, the main centres of India,” Dhumal told the Indian Express.

“The IPL should have been played in all areas. We all thought that after what the country went through in 2020, the IPL will boost the spirit of the country. We conducted a dummy run and planned out things. When the England series was conducted in Ahmedabad, Chennai and Pune, the situation was far better. As things went so smoothly, we all were quite confident that we will be able to conduct the IPL smoothly. Who would have imagined such a situation will arise? Had we known, we could have held the IPL overseas. It was during the time when things were getting normal that we took the call. We were quite confident that we will pull it off,” he added.<o:p></o:p>

Since the postponement, the biggest question being asked to the BCCI is what was the need of conducting the IPL in multiple venues? Could it have been played in a single venue?

“It was never discussed then because nobody knew what was coming. What was the guarantee that if we had hosted it in one city like Mumbai, there would have been no cases? When we started, Mumbai was the worst- affected city. Then too, there would have been criticism. At that point of time, this was the best option we had,” Dhumal explained.<o:p></o:p>

While some of the players have already returned back to their bases, there are a few still waiting for the quarantine to be over. Dhumal said the BCCI is still standing by its word that IPL isn’t over until the participants reach their homes safe and secure.<o:p></o:p>

“We stand by our word that for us, the IPL is not complete until our players and officials reach their homes safe and secure. We are working on that and will come out with a detailed plan in two days,” Dhumal quipped.<o:p></o:p>

When asked when the fans can expect the IPL 2021 to resume, Dhumal said they haven’t discussed anything about a potential window in future and want to focus on players’ return.<o:p></o:p>

“We haven’t discussed anything as all our focus is now on ensuring players, support staff and officials reach home safely. When a window is available, we will hold it,” Dhumal said.<o:p></o:p>

Dhumal said that the series between India and England boosted the confidence that IPL 2021 could be held in multiple venues in India and the board wanted to boost the spirit of the country through the IPL. The BCCI treasurer further said that no one imagined such a situation would arise and everyone was quite confident of pulling off the tournament. “In a normal scenario, we would have had more venues, like Indore and Pune. They also used to host IPL games. When we were conducting the England series, everything went so smoothly that we thought that it’s time to take cricket back to each zone. At least, the main centres of India,” Dhumal told the Indian Express. ALSO READ: 'It’s a national disaster': Shoaib Akhtar agrees with BCCI's decision to suspend IPL “The IPL should have been played in all areas. We were quite confident that we will pull it off,” he added. Since the postponement, the biggest question being asked to the BCCI is what was the need of conducting the IPL in multiple venues? Could it have been played in a single venue? IN PICS | From Padikkal to Hussey: IPL members who tested positive for COVID-19 “It was never discussed then because nobody knew what was coming. What was the guarantee that if we had hosted it in one city like Mumbai, there would have been no cases? When we started, Mumbai was the worst- affected city. Then too, there would have been criticism. At that point of time, this was the best option we had,” Dhumal explained. While some of the players have already returned back to their bases, there are a few still waiting for the quarantine to be over. Dhumal said the BCCI is still standing by its word that IPL isn’t over until the participants reach their homes safe and secure. “We stand by our word that for us, the IPL is not complete until our players and officials reach their homes safe and secure. We are working on that and will come out with a detailed plan in two days,” Dhumal quipped. When asked when the fans can expect the IPL 2021 to resume, Dhumal said they haven’t discussed anything about a potential window in future and want to focus on players’ return. “We haven’t discussed anything as all our focus is now on ensuring players, support staff and officials reach home safely. When a window is available, we will hold it,” Dhumal said.

The biggest question after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 was postponed indefinitely on Tuesday was how would the overseas players fly back home? However, eight out of 11 England players flew back last night and landed in London on Wednesday morning. <o:p></o:p>

England players face travel obstacles after IPL 2021 postponement

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to lose over INR 2000 crore (US$ 217 million) of the broadcast and sponsorship money from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, which was indefinitely postponed on Tuesday owing to a rise in COVID-19 cases across teams.<o:p></o:p>

The BCCI was forced to postpone the IPL 2021 after multiple cases of COVID-19 were reported among players and support staff from Ahmedabad and New Delhi in the last couple of days. <o:p></o:p>

“We would be losing anything between Rs 2000 to Rs 2500 crore for the midway postponement of this season. I would say something in the range of Rs 2200 crore will be closer to accurate estimation,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.<o:p></o:p>

The 60-match T20 tournament was set to conclude on May 30 in Ahmedabad. However, the postponement came after 29 completed matches as the dreaded virus halts the T20 tournament.<o:p></o:p>

The biggest deficit for the BCCI is the money from Star Sports – for the broadcast rights – of the tournament.<o:p></o:p>

If the host broadcaster pays the amount on a per match basis then it would be around INR 1580 crore out of the INR 3270 crore for the full tournament.<o:p></o:p>

If Star pays per match, then the amount for 29 matches would be Rs 1580 crore approximately out of what would have been Rs 3270 crore for a full tournament. This means a loss of Rs 1690 crore for the Board.<o:p></o:p>

Similarly, the BCCI is likely to get less than the half amount agreed with mobile manufacturers VIVO – IPL’s title sponsors. Additionally, more sponsors like Unacademy, Dream11, CRed, Upstox, and Tata Motors, who pay in the range of Rs 120 crore each. Some subsidiary sponsors are also there.<o:p></o:p>

“Slash all the payments by half or a bit less and you will be reaching a loss in the range of 2200 crore. The actual losses could be much more but this is a back of the hand calculation for the season,” the official said.<o:p></o:p>

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to lose over INR 2000 crore (US$ 217 million) of the broadcast and sponsorship money from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, which was indefinitely postponed on Tuesday owing to a rise in COVID-19 cases across teams. The BCCI was forced to postpone the IPL 2021 after multiple cases of COVID-19 were reported among players and support staff from Ahmedabad and New Delhi in the last couple of days. “We would be losing anything between Rs 2000 to Rs 2500 crore for the midway postponement of this season. I would say something in the range of Rs 2200 crore will be closer to accurate estimation,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity. The 60-match T20 tournament was set to conclude on May 30 in Ahmedabad. However, the postponement came after 29 completed matches as the dreaded virus halts the T20 tournament. The biggest deficit for the BCCI is the money from Star Sports – for the broadcast rights – of the tournament. If the host broadcaster pays the amount on a per match basis then it would be around INR 1580 crore out of the INR 3270 crore for the full tournament. If Star pays per match, then the amount for 29 matches would be Rs 1580 crore approximately out of what would have been Rs 3270 crore for a full tournament. This means a loss of Rs 1690 crore for the Board. Some subsidiary sponsors are also there. “Slash all the payments by half or a bit less and you will be reaching a loss in the range of 2200 crore. The actual losses could be much more but this is a back of the hand calculation for the season,” the official said. (With inputs from agencies)

"I think everyone has been very proactive. We found out approximately 24 hours ago about Varun testing positive, so the immediate steps we took was to isolate him, and then later on in the night when we got test results which also involved Sandeep, we put them on a different floor with a different Air Conditioning ducts system to make sure others are appropriately protected. We have asked everybody in the bubble (players, support staff, management, hotel staff and service staff) to quarantine, so they are isolated in their rooms. The food delivery is on a knock and drop basis, which everyone has gotten used to by now.<o:p></o:p>

"The target completion date of this five day with this daily testing is the 6th of May," Venky Mysore said. <o:p></o:p>

"The team doctor was on the call as well, and his assessment is that if everything's goes well, the plan that we have put in place, we should be able to get the results sometime later in the day on the 6th of May which means that potentially we could even get out that evening for a practice subject to what the coaches want to do and then get ready for 7th and 8th depending on when the rescheduled games would potentially take place."<o:p></o:p>

Speaking on the immediate steps in consultation with the officials and other governing bodies involved, Venky Mysore said: ALSO READ: Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman likely to leave IPL 2021 early "I think everyone has been very proactive. The food delivery is on a knock and drop basis, which everyone has gotten used to by now. "The target completion date of this five day with this daily testing is the 6th of May," Venky Mysore said. "The team doctor was on the call as well, and his assessment is that if everything's goes well, the plan that we have put in place, we should be able to get the results sometime later in the day on the 6th of May which means that potentially we could even get out that evening for a practice subject to what the coaches want to do and then get ready for 7th and 8th depending on when the rescheduled games would potentially take place."

IPL 2021: KKR CEO Venky Mysore sheds light on situation as Varun, Sandeep test positive for COVID-19

England have said that their players participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 must make their own minds whether to carry playing the tournament as COVID-19 continues to ravage the nation. At least two franchises have been affected by the virus after KKR players – Varun Chakaravarthy and Sandeep Warrier – and CSK staff – L Balaji and bus cleaner – tested positive for COVID-19.<o:p></o:p>

The T20 tournament headed into turmoil on Monday with the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore being postponed after positive results.<o:p></o:p>

However, the IPL 2021 will, in all likelihood, continue and ECB remains concrete with their decision to not withdraw any of the 11 English players in the lucrative tournament. <o:p></o:p>

Instead, the ECB has given an option to carry on with the IPL 2021 or quit and face 10 days in quarantine before they can return to their homeland. <o:p></o:p>

“We continue to monitor and communicate with our players and staff currently in India,” said an ECB spokesperson as quoted by DailyMail.<o:p></o:p>

“In terms of continued participation it will be a decision taken by each individual. We acknowledge these are challenging times and our thoughts are with the people of India.”<o:p></o:p>

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Chakaravarthy recently left KKR’s bubble in Ahmedabad via the IPL ‘green channel’ to have a shoulder scan and it is being assumed that the spinner contracted the virus there.<o:p></o:p>

IPL 2021: England players given choice to quit or carry on playing - Report

Bangladesh players Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman might have to return to their country from the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 sooner than planned. The development comes due to the quarantine rule imposed by the Bangladesh health ministry, Nizamuddin Chowdhury, the Bangladesh Cricket Board chief said on Monday. <o:p></o:p>

The new quarantine rule by the Bangladesh health ministry, which came into effect from May 1, states that travelers coming from India and South Africa will have to undergo a 14-day quarantine period before resuming work. BCB will need special permission from the Directorate General of Health Services to avail any relaxation on the new rule.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <o:p></o:p>

Earlier, BCB had reduced the quarantine for their foreign coaching staff and cricketers but the scale of the second COVID-19 wave reduces the chances of the same happening this time.

Rajasthan Royals will be looking to redeem themselves after suffering a crushing defeat at the hands of Mumbai Indians. Skipper Sanju Samson has found some form in few matches. However, Rajasthan Royals have to rethink their batting order as they failed to use their resources in the lineup wisely and settled for a modest score despite not losing many wickets. Chris Morris, IPL's most expensive buy, is yet to leave an impact for the Royals. The team are placed on the seventh spot after two wins in six matches.&nbsp;

Sunrisers Hyderabad, on the other hand, axed their long-time skipper David Warner and made Kiwi batsman Kane Williamson the captain for the remainder of the season. SRH are the bottom-most team in the IPL points table with just one win out of six games. The SRH franchise also confirmed a change in their overseas combination on the eve of their match against Rajasthan Royals.

<h2>PITCH REPORT:&nbsp;</h2>

The pitch will be on the slower side at the start but will become better to bat on as the game progresses. Teams will want to chase on this ground. A 180+ score will be the ideal target for the team batting first.&nbsp;

<h2>WEATHER PREDICTIONS:</h2>

A hot and humid day for Delhi as the temperature will go as high as 38-degree Celsius and the lowest being 27-degree Celsius with humidity of 10%. The skies will be partially clouded, however, no signs of rain with a precipitation of 10 per cent.&nbsp;

<h2>Head-to-Head</h2>

There isn't a lot of contrast between the two teams with regards to their record against one another in past meets. Among 13 matches in which these groups have conflicted in IPL, 6 have been won by Rajasthan Royals while SRH have won the rest 7 games. These different sides met in IPL 2013 eliminator where Rajasthan enlisted a 4-wicket triumph.
