This is also only the second time in history -- after 1986 -- that India have won two Tests on one tour of England. They had beaten England by 151 runs in the second Test at Lord`s last month. 
 
"I said at the start of the fifth day that it was going to be a big test of Virat Kohli`s captaincy -- and he passed that test with flying colours. That Oval pitch offered very little for the seamers, and only a bit of rough for Ravindra Jadeja`s left-arm spin. But somehow he (Kohli) manufactured 10 English wickets on the last day," Hussain said in his column for the Daily Mail on Tuesday.

The 39-year-old paceman's heavy workload after playing in four back-to-back Tests has prompted concern about his fitness and ability to lead England's attack at his Manchester home ground, with the hosts now 2-1 down in a five-match series.

"You have to weigh everything up and take everything into account to make sure physically he (Anderson) is in the right place and feels he can get through it," said England captain Root after Monday's emphatic reverse.

'Balancing act'

"If he goes down injured, it leaves us in a difficult place for the rest of the game and for the winter," he added, with Anderson's career tally of 632 Test wickets third in the all-time list behind two retired spinners in Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan (800 Test wickets) and Australia's Shane Warne (708).

"Ultimately, we've got to find a way of winning -- it's a delicate balancing act."

England have seen fast bowlers Stuart Broad, Jofra Archer, Mark Wood, Olly Stone and Chris Woakes all sidelined in recent times, although Woakes returned at the Oval.

Meanwhile, Craig Overton's availability for the fifth Test is now in doubt after he received a nasty blow to the arm when being dismissed by Umesh Yadav on Monday.

"It's been frustrating, the amount of injuries we've had to contend with. It's part and parcel of the game and the current climate we're living in," Root said.

"We have to make sure we're doing everything in the interest of the players and give ourselves the best chance of winning at the same time.

"It's been a tough summer. It's been a gruelling schedule, some wonderful cricket and highly intense cricket," he explained.&nbsp;

"It's part and parcel of a Test match and something you've got to be able to manage."

Having lost 1-0 in a two-match series to World Test Championship winners New Zealand earlier in the season, Root is keen to avoid another similar defeat by India.

"It's going to be really important we bounce back very quickly just like we did a week ago," said Root, whose side recovered from a 151-run defeat by India in the second Test to win the third by an innings and 76 runs at his Headingley home ground.&nbsp;

India batting coach Vikram Rathour has said that the stage has not come yet where the team management starts worrying about the form of Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane. Rahane has been battling severe criticism for his form off late and in the second innings of the ongoing Test, the vice-captain was dismissed for a duck by pacer Chris Woakes

"Not at this point. As I said earlier also, when you are playing cricket for a long time, you will have phases where you will not get runs. That is the time when we need to support the player as a team. As we saw with Pujara also, he has played a couple of important innings for us. We are hoping Ajinkya will get back into form and still play a major role in the Indian team`s batting. I do not think we have arrived at that point where Rahane`s form should become a concern," said Rathour during a virtual press conference after the end of Day Four of the ongoing fourth Test.

"When you are playing such an important series like this one, playing in the conditions which are tough for batting and we are playing against such a disciplined bowling attack, which has been bowling so well, so as a batting unit, the technique is the last thing you should be thinking about. I do not think we are looking at technique right now, there is time to look for it, I do not think mid-series or mid-game is the time for that," he added.

There was a potential we could have been distracted, the credit needs to go to the boys for the way they handled themselves," said Rathour.

But an animal of a different kind may have had a bigger influence on the game, according to India leg-spinner Bhagwat Chandrasekhar.

"I was walking back to my run-up and Dilip Sardesai shouted "Hey Chandra, bowl him 'Mill Reef'," said Chandrasekhar in a video message to an audience at London's Taj St James Court Hotel celebrating the 'Golden Jubilee' on Wednesday.

"There was a horse called Mill Reef in England, which was winning all the big races (including the 1971 Epsom Derby) and it had tremendous speed," added Chandra, whose quicker ball deceived many a batsman in a career that yielded 242 wickets in 58 Tests.

"I had the idea of bowling my googly to John Edrich but then I thought 'Dilip Sardesai is a good student of the game'."

'Freak bowler'&nbsp;

Chandrasekhar bowled Edrich, one of the mainstays of England's top order, for a duck.&nbsp;

"Before he could lift the bat, the ball hit the stumps," added the 76-year-old, as he joyfully recalled Edrich's exit.&nbsp;

Farokh Engineer, India's wicketkeeper in 1971, was in no doubt of Chandrasekhar's quality.

"Chandra, with due respect I think he is the greatest spin bowler India has produced," said Engineer, who also kept superbly to such outstanding spinners as Erapalli Prasanna, Bishan Bedi and Srinivasaraghavan Venkataraghavan.

"But half the time, he didn't know which way the ball was going," added Engineer speaking in London with Indian cricket journalist Ashis Ray.&nbsp;

"He was a freak bowler. He was a polio victim, and hats off to him, he made his defect into a great asset."

Engineer, 28 not out when Abid Ali hit the winning runs, had little time to enjoy the victory as the next day he was playing for English county Lancashire in Manchester.

"The motorways weren't as good in those days, I got home at about four o'clock in the morning (0300 GMT) and at 10:30 am, I am striding out to open the innings with David Lloyd," the now 83-year-old Engineer recalled.

"To my surprise, I got a standing ovation from the predominately English crowd.&nbsp;

"I thought 'this is real sportsmanship -- I've just shafted their country the day before and hear they are giving me a standing ovation. I had a tear in my eye."

England's John Jameson who made a fine 82 in the first innings, told the London audience of an event supported by the ICICI Bank, East African Foods and West Midlands India Partnership: "I am the only one here who has got a foot in both camps.&nbsp;

"I'm a Bombay (Mumbai)-wallah -- I was born in Byculla," added Jameson, who revealed he had rejected an approach to play for India as "my home was in England".&nbsp;

"I was nine years old, listening to it on Test Match Special from the BBC on 9.74 metres wavelength on the 31 metre band," Shastri said.&nbsp;

"For a nine-year-old, it inspired me no end. One day when you play cricket you want to win a series in England. It happened for me as a player (1986) and as a coach (in 2007)."&nbsp;

Daniel Jarvis or 'Jarvo 69' has been arrested on suspicion of assault when he invaded the pitch and collided with a player in the fourth Test match between England and India at the Oval on Friday (September 3).&nbsp;

The incident happened on Day 2 of the fourth Test during Indian pacer Umesh Yadav's over. Jarvis was spotted running onto the pitch donning India&nbsp;kit, and running to bowl at England's Ollie Pope when he crashed into non-striker Jonny Bairstow.&nbsp;

So far what looked like fun pitch-invading incidents have become a little bit serious as Jarvis ran into trouble with the police authorities. He was immediately taken away by the on-field security and the match was halted for over five minutes.&nbsp;

A statement from the Met Police read: "A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault following an incident at the Oval Cricket Ground on Friday, 3 September. He remains in custody at a south London police station."

Jarvis had broken through security barriers and run on to the pitch during the previous two Tests as well.&nbsp;

In the second Test at Lord's he&nbsp;invaded the pitch dressed in an India kit while in the third match at Leeds, he came out all padded up and took the crease.&nbsp;

Commentator Harsha Bhogle expressed his opinion on the same as he took to Twitter and wrote, "A few people need to be sacked at grounds in England. This is a very serious security lapse and it just continues. Not even a prank anymore. #Jarvo #Idiot."

The ECB said that any pitch invasion was "completely unacceptable" in a statement to British media.

"The ECB and our host venues do not tolerate any such behaviour which risks the safety of players, officials and staff," the cricket body added.

"The ECB works closely with all our venues to share information and enhance their security operation."

On Day 3 of the 4th Test, Rohit reached the landmark just before the tea break with a magnificent six over long-on off Moeen Ali as the Indian side ended the session on 199-1 in their second innings after play was stopped due to bad light.&nbsp;

Rohit is popularly known as 'Hit-Man' because of his towering sixes and sublime boundaries, but the 'Run Machine' presented a solid defence for team India in a very crucial phase as he scored 127 runs off 256 balls before losing his wicket to Ollie Robinson.&nbsp;

The moment Rohit&nbsp;completed the ton, the Indian skipper Virat was seen punching his fists in the dressing room with a sweet smile on his face.&nbsp;

England's Ollie Pope and Chris Woakes made a telling impact on their test return to earn the hosts a tidy first innings lead in the fourth test against India on Friday.

Woakes was the pick of the English bowlers when they bowled out India for a below-par 191 in their first innings at the Oval on Thursday.

The all-rounder made an equally important contribution with the bat on day two, producing a counter-attacking 50 to put England ahead in the see-saw contest.

Number six batsman Pope top-scored for the home side with a diligent 81 as England posted 290 in their reply.

India were 43 for no loss in their second innings at stumps, still 56 behind, after openers KL Rahul, batting on 22, and Rohit Sharma saw off the final 16 overs without being separated.

James Anderson did create an opportunity but Rory Burns at second slip misjudged an edge from Sharma, who was batting on 20.

Earlier, India seamer Umesh Yadav (3-76) struck twice after England resumed day two on 53-3.

Nightwatchman Craig Overton was the first to go and Dawid Malan, who made 31, followed suit after Sharma at second slip dived to his right to take a sharp catch.

The hosts looked in dire straits at 62-5 but Pope added 89 runs with Jonny Bairstow to prop up the English innings and 71 with Moeen Ali to steer them past India's disappointing total.

The Indian seamers, who had been bowling with a lot of discipline, suddenly took their foot off the pedal and boundaries started flowing.

Pope hit Shardul Thakur for three boundaries in the same over and his aggression appeared to rub off on Bairstow who meted out similar treatment to Mohammed Siraj in the next over.

Siraj dismissed Bairstow lbw for 37 and Moeen made 35 before throwing away his wicket.

Pope departed after dragging a Thakur delivery onto his stumps with England on the 250 mark and Woakes continued the good work in the company of the tailenders.

"I was a bit gutted (not to get a century)," Pope told Sky Sports. "At my home ground it would have been a bit of a dream to have got over the line. But I guess if someone said you would get over 80 in the first game back you'd take that.

"It's a good pitch – the harder ball this morning felt tough early on but it's a good wicket and hopefully the clouds roll in tomorrow and we can get it swinging a little bit now as well.

"If you can hang in the right area for as long as you can, there will be some success."

The all-rounder smashed 11 boundaries in his breezy knock before running himself out.

The five-test series is level at 1-1.
