<p>Speaking with the ICC after India's win against Bangladesh, Kuldeep said: "It's very important to start off very well with the first Powerplay. Jasprit and Siraj have done really well.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Not just giving us wickets, but probably just containing the runs as well (for) when me and Jaddu bhai (Ravindra Jadeja) come to bowl.”</p>

ODI World Cup 2023: Kuldeep Yadav hails THESE TWO players for India's four consecutive wins

<p>India batter Virat Kohli recorded his 48th ODI century in the World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh on October 19 and became the fastest to reach 26,000 international runs. Kohli scored an unbeaten 103 off 97 balls as India won their fourth match on the trot in the tournament to go on top of the points table.</p>

<p>The modern master now has 26,026 runs in all international games he has played in 511 innings. Kohli also pipped former India great Sachin Tendulkar to become the fastest to reach the milestone, taking 33 innings less than the Master Blaster.</p>

<p>Kohli is only the fourth batter in the history of cricket to go past 26K runs (8,676 in Tests, 13,342 runs in ODIs and 4,008 in T20Is), behind Sachin Tendulkar - 34,357 runs, Sri Lanka's Kumar Sangakkara - 28,016 runs and Australia's Ricky Ponting - 27,483 runs.</p>

<p>Kohli was batting on 97 with India needing just two runs to win while chasing 261. He hit a six in the 42nd over to reach his 100 and take India home by seven wickets. KL Rahul, his partner on the crease during the winning moment, revealed after the match that Kohli was not too sure about going for the 100.</p>

<p>"He [Kohli] was confused, he said it will not look too nice, not to take the single, it's still a World Cup, and it's still a big stage. 'I don't want to look like I am just trying to get the milestone'," Rahul told Star Sports after the match.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"But I said, I mean it is not won but still I think we'll win quite easily, so if you can get to the milestone why not, you must try. And he did that in the end. I wasn't going to run the singles anyway," he added.</p>

<p>"There's a reason why the guys won the T20 World Cup last year; there's a reason why the guys won the 2019 World Cup, and we're the defending champions," said Jonny Bairstow ahead of their next match against South Africa. "Just because we've lost a game to Afghanistan doesn't make us bad cricketers or anything like that," he added.</p>

<p>On England's 69-run loss against Afghanistan, Bairstow said that the Afghan players play in the IPL and have decent spinners in the squad. He also agreed that the team didn't play well enough but the team has moved on from that.</p>

<p>Afghanistan bowler Azmatullah Omarzai, during the ODI World Cup 2023 game against New Zealand in Chennai, bowled a perfect full-length delivery to send back Rachin Ravidra packing. The ball by Omarzai went past Ravindra's defence and sent his middle stump flying as Kiwis lost their second wicket.</p>

<p>Australia finally got their first win of the ODI World Cup 2023 after beating Sri Lanka by five wickets on October 16 in Lucknow. The five-time champions had previously lost to India in their opening game and then against South Africa as well. They had an early scare during the game against Sri Lanka as well but eventually came out triumphant.</p>

<p>The Aussie bowlers were ineffective early on as Sri Lanka added 125 runs for the first wicket while batting first but the bowlers pulled things back and brought them down to 178/5. Mitchell Starc, the fearsome left-arm bowler, who was off colour during the early overs, struck back to send Dhananjaya de Silva back as the fifth wicket.</p>

<p>"I don't really look at it as pressure or responsibility because as a child I wanted to be a cricketer,” Bumrah said in Ahmedabad.</p>

<p>"I wanted to play for India. I wanted to do the difficult job. I wanted to make my team win. So that is what I'm doing.</p>

<p>"I've learned a lot over the years. I tried to use my experience, I've played a lot in this country,” he added.</p>

<p>"Cricket is something that brings joy to the people back home. Winning the game against England is big for us. Recently, we had an earthquake back home. Over 3,000 people lost their lives, many houses were destroyed, so this win will put a little bit of smile on their faces and maybe, they can little bit forget those days," said Rashid to the broadcasters after the match.</p>

<p>"This is a big win for us. This kind of performance gives us the belief that we can beat any side on any day. It will give us the energy for the rest of the World Cup," he added while talking about the magnanimity of the win.</p>

<p>Jasprit Bumrah starred with the ball for India in their convincing eight-wicket win over Afghanistan in match 9 of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 edition. Locking horns at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday (Oct 11), Rohit Sharma-led India restricted the Afghans to 272 for 8 riding on Bumrah's 4 for 39 -- his best figures in the World Cup -- before Hitman's sublime 131 and Virat Kohli's 55 not out took the home side to an easy win, with 15 overs to spare.</p>

<p>While Rohit walked away with the Player-of-the-Match award, many felt Bumrah played a very crucial role as well on a flat track. <p>Ever since his international return, Bumrah has been in top form. He came back to the Indian team during India's tour of Ireland in August after a long injury layoff (due to back issues). <p>Williamson, 33, was asked whether that legacy&nbsp;of success inspired his men.</p>

<p>"We love the All Blacks," he said. "You know, coming from&nbsp;New&nbsp;Zealand&nbsp;obviously rugby is our number one game and so I think everybody in the squad is pretty passionate about rugby and following their journey at the moment at the World Cup and the success that they've had.</p>

<p>"For us, we've had some really enjoyable times recently and got pretty close, but you still have to start again. And there's been some good performances so far."</p>

<p>He added: "We're here as a cricket team but I think something that you do hear often about their side is their culture, their environment, and their ability to keep moving forward as a team and adapting to what's in front of them, whether that's the movement of the game and how that keeps changing and evolving.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"They keep doing really well at staying ahead of that curve. We just want to keep getting better as a side, keep growing as a side and that's our focus."</p>

<p>Williamson is a key batsman for&nbsp;New&nbsp;Zealand, amassing 6,554 runs in one-day international cricket at an impressive average of nearly 48.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He said his return had involved a "series of really small steps", admitting there were doubts over whether he would be fit to play any part in the tournament although he did feature in the pre-event warm-up schedule.</p>

<p>"To be honest, it was probably a good thing just to get my head stuck into rehab each day and not sort of rush it and that was really my focus," he said.</p>

<p>"And I was fortunate as well I had a really, really good team around me back home and also fortunate not to have a lot of setbacks during that time, so there were lots of little steps forward which I guess accumulate to being here now really."</p>

This is their biggest loss in terms of runs in the ODI World Cups - a tournament which they have won five times - the most by any team.</p>

<p>Chasing 312, Australia folded out for 177 and skipper Pat Cummins acknowledged that they have 'got to try and find a way in all conditions.'</p>

<p>"I think if we want to be challenging, you [have] got to try and find a way in all conditions, and that's for the bowlers try and take wickets and for the batters try and score runs," Cummins told the broadcaster after the loss.</p>

<p>South Africa batsman Quinton de Kock predicted that Thursday's high-profile&nbsp;World&nbsp;Cup&nbsp;clash with old rivals Australia will be decided by a battle of "big egos".</p>

<p>De Kock, who will quit international&nbsp;cricket&nbsp;at the end of this tournament, has enjoyed being part of a Proteas side who have had the upper hand in recent years.</p>

<p>South Africa got off to a scintillating start at this&nbsp;World&nbsp;Cup, piling up a tournament record 428 in a 102-run win over Sri Lanka in New Delhi.</p>

<p>De Kock cracked his 18th ODI century in that match but it was his first at a&nbsp;World&nbsp;Cup. Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen also hit centuries.</p>

<p>"I think I've been wanting a 100 for a while. Just for my personal self, it's been a while," said De Kock whose last ton came against India in Cape Town in January 2022.</p>

<p>"Just to tick it off in a&nbsp;World&nbsp;Cup&nbsp;and get the campaign started was a big thing for the guys' confidence."</p>

<p>After the&nbsp;World&nbsp;Cup&nbsp;ends, De Kock will officially remain available for T20 internationals but only when there isn't a clash with more lucrative franchise opportunities.</p>

<p>He will leave behind a legacy of almost 12,000 international runs across the three formats, and 25 centuries. He has scored hundreds in Tests, ODIs and T20&nbsp;cricket.</p>

<p>However, De Kock insists he will have no regrets about closing the book on his 11-year South Africa career.</p>

<p>"I'm sure a lot of guys love the ODI format. I have been doing it for a couple of years now, so I find it quite tiring," he explained.</p>

<p>"But I'm sure there's still a lot of guys coming through the ranks, guys still at school, they still would love to play this format and I highly recommend that they find a way to keep it going."</p>

<p>For the moment, an elusive&nbsp;World&nbsp;Cup&nbsp;title remains De Kock's priority for a country who have fallen at the semi-finals on four occasions.</p>

<p>They have been in good form -- arriving in India having overturned a 2-0 deficit to defeat Australia 3-2 on home soil last month.</p>

<p>"I think in order for us to be one of the best we need to be, we still need to be a bit more consistent," said De Kock who on Thursday will be playing in familiar surroundings -- his Lucknow IPL team is based at the Ekana Stadium.</p>

<p>"Especially in tight games like&nbsp;World&nbsp;Cups. That will determine actually how good we are."</p>

<p>Hardik Pandya bowled a superb slower ball to dismiss Afghanistan's Azmatullah Omarzai during India's ODI World Cup 2023 match in New Delhi on October 11. The wicket came after the batter had added 121 runs for the fourth wicket with skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi after Afghans lost three wickets for 63.</p>

<p>The wicket came in the 35th over with Omarzai batting on 62. The batter had hit the first ball of the over for a four but Pandya came back strongly and dismissed Omarzai with a peach of a delivery. Pandya had bowled a slower-one and the ball hit top of off stump to dislodge the bails. After the wicket, Pandya let a might roar out, clearly showing how much the wicket mattered at the time. ODI World Cup 2023: Former coach Dav Whatmore fears 'what next' for Sri Lanka after loss against Pakistan

<p>England bowler Sam Curran was unlucky during the ODI World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh as he didn't get a wicket he should have. The ball did hit the stumps but the bails didn't fall and the batter survived. England, however, went on to win the game by 137 runs.</p>

<p>The incident happened in 49th over of the Bangladesh innings when they were well out of the match, needing 138 runs in 12 balls, while chasing a mammoth 365. Curran's first ball of the over was a length ball which batter Taskin Ahmed missed and the ball hit the leg stump, only to go past it without dislodging the bails. <p>Curran, however, got his man in the next ball as a searing yorker rattled the base of middle stump, wrapping up Bangladesh's innings for 227.</p>

<p>The loss by 137 runs was the third largest for Bangladesh in terms of runs in the ODI World Cups. The first two were by 206 runs against South Africa in 2011 and by 198 runs against Sri Lanka in 2007.</p>

<p>Earlier, Bangladesh had won the toss and elected to field first. Skipper Shakib Al Hasan explained that the logic behind choosing to field was the weather but agreed that they didn't start well.</p>

<p>"Was a good toss to win, was colder weather then. There was some rain last night. We did not start well, first ten overs especially. When you give them a sniff they always come hard at us. We came back strongly. But it was a little too late," said Shakib after the match.</p>

<p>On the second consecutive loss, Shakib said that they have to move on, especially with some tough matches coming up in the tournament.</p>

<p>"We have to move on and we have some tough matches coming up. We cannot be bogged down. We have to move on and think about all the positives we have been doing," said the skipper.</p>

<p>Bangladesh next play against New Zealand on October 13 in Chennai.</p>

ODI World Cup 2023: UNBELIEVEABLE! Watch - Ball hits stumps but bails don't fall during England vs Bangladesh

<p>New Zealand's Trent Boult may have been off colour with the ball but his catching skills are still top notch and the same was on display during the ODI World Cup 2023 game vs Netherlands on October 9. Boult took an athletic catch at the boundary to dismiss Bas de Leede in the 17th over of the innings.</p>

<p>Rachin Ravindra bowled a tossed-up delivery outside off to which de Leede played a brilliant lofted drive shot.</p>

<p>Boult was at the long-off boundary and caught the ball but got disbalanced. The Kiwi fielder then tossed the ball up in the air, jumped over the boundary and came back inside the field to complete a fantastic catch.</p>

<p>New Zealand eventually went on to win the match by 99 runs - their second victory in as many games. With this, New Zealand also consolidated their place at the top of the points table.</p>

<p>With Kane Williamson most probably going to play in the next game for New Zealand, the Kiwis will have a difficult decision to drop one of the batters from their winning XI of the last two teams.</p>

<p>While Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra hit centuries in the first game for New Zealand against England, all the top five batters scored runs in their second game against the Dutch as the Kiwis posted 322/7 in their 50 overs.</p>

<p>For the Blackcaps, Will Young scored 70 while the first game's Player of the Match Rachin Ravindra scored 51 in Netherlands' games. Apart from them, Daryl Mitchell scored 48 and stand-in skipper Tom Latham also managed to contribute 53.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the spin department, Ravindra and Mitchell Santner, who took a five-for in the game against Netherlands, seem a lock in the side for the next game as well.</p>

<p>New Zealand next play Bangladesh in on October 13 in Chennai.</p>

Boult took an athletic catch at the boundary to dismiss Bas de Leede in the 17th over of the innings. Rachin Ravindra bowled a tossed-up delivery outside off to which de Leede played a brilliant lofted drive shot. Boult was at the long-off boundary and caught the ball but got disbalanced. The Kiwi fielder then tossed the ball up in the air, jumped over the boundary and came back inside the field to complete a fantastic catch.
