US President Donald Trump on Thursday posted an uncaptioned picture on the Truth social platform. The AI-generated image on Truth Social shows Trump on his knees as a larger-than-life god-like figure wrapped in the US flag, and lifting up the globe. Since the post was uncaptioned, there is no clear interpretation of what Trump was intending to communicate.
Who is Atlas?
The image appears to have resemblances to the depiction of the Greek God Atlas, who is seen carrying a celestial sphere on his shoulder. The Greek God was among the 10 Titans, who waged war against Zeus and the Olympians. The Olympians won, and Zeus punished each Titan by banishing them to the underworld, while reserving the worst of all for the Titans; he sentenced them to carry the heavens on their shoulders to prevent it from falling on the earth. While earlier depictions of Greek mythology show Atlas holding a celestial sphere, the later depictions show him holding the earth. Also Read: Why Iran scheduled Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's funeral to coincide with US Independence Day
Why is Trump depicting himself as Atlas?
While there is no clear interpretation, Trump might be hinting like Atlas, who was engaged in eternal labour, Trump, who is representing the US empire, was responsible for saving the global economy due to the dollar's reserve currency status. US President Donald Trump, in a speech at the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s annual Road to Majority conference at the Washington Hilton hotel on Friday, decried the Democrats as “godless communists” who pose an existential threat to America. At the same time, he bragged that he would be “the greatest communist in history”. He tried to stoke fear in the hearts of Americans in the wake of subsequent victories from Democratic Socialist candidates in the Democratic primaries, specifically in New York City.“As you saw with the communists elected in New York City recently, they're communists. They're not social democrats,” said Trump, referring to the winners at the New York City Democratic Primaries, by candidates backed by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdan. Mamdani and DSA-backed Assemblymember Claire Valdez and Brad Lander won the Democratic primaries on Tuesday, June 23. Trump threatened that communists would destroy the American way of life. He warned that democrats “want to resume the transgender mutilation of children, they want to restart the war on Christians and churches, and as you saw with the communists elected in New York recently … they want to completely destroy the traditional American way of life.”It was the first time Trump was in the Hilton Hotel since his last episode of assassination attack at the White House Correspondence Dinner. “Assassinations of those who oppose them is a very important element of their ideology. The confidence in Trump's leadership has significantly flipped in India. 51 per cent of Indian respondents express confidence in Putin to manage global affairs, compared to only 39 per cent who trust in Trump's capability. The report also suggests that the majority of Indians disapprove of Trump on a wide spectrum of global policy issues, from handling of Iran, Venezuela, global tariffs and immigration policies. Roughly 17 per cent approve of Trump's handling of Venezuela, while 28 per cent approve of his handling of Iran, 18 per cent of Indians approve of Trump's global tariff policy, and only 32 per cent have a favourable view of Trump's restrictive immigration policy.
India is the only outlier
The majority of Indians, approximately 80 per cent, think Trump is "arrogant" and 65 per cent think he is a “dangerous leader”. Among 17 middle-income countries, only Indians have a comparatively favourable view of US interference in other countries, 47 per cent think the US does interfere, while 30 per cent think the US does not. This shows that while Indians find the US policy unfavourable, there is still a large division among the Indian population about the true US motivation on the world stage. India is an outlier, whereas most of the middle-income countries have a median of 75 per cent who think that the US interferes in other countries' internal policies. The number of deaths inside US immigration detention facilities has risen sharply during President Donald Trump's second term, according to a new report by Human Rights Watch and Physicians for Human Rights. A 73-page report, titled 'Dying in Detention: Rising Deaths in an Expanding US Immigration Detention System', found that 52 people died in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody during the first 500 days of Trump's return to office. Another detainee, 32-year-old Lorenzo Antonio Batrez Vargas, died in 2025 after contracting COVID-19 and spending nearly two weeks in isolation. More than a year later, his family was still searching for answers about the circumstances surrounding his death. "Only a mother who has lost her child knows what I am feeling," his mother said. "I want my child, and I can’t do anything."The report also cites the case of Mohammad Paktiawal, a former member of Afghanistan's special forces who fled the Taliban takeover in 2021. He died in March after being detained in Texas. ICE later identified him as a "criminal illegal alien from Afghanistan with previous arrests for fraud and theft".Human Rights Watch also found that ICE fails to disclose key information about how such deaths occur. It argues that such deaths raise serious questions about whether the United States is meeting its obligations under international human rights standards, including protections for people held in state custody. Also read | 'I'm not going to be bullied': Trump gets into shouting match with Republican senator over Iran war as questions grow over peace deal
ICE rejects Human Rights Watch report
ICE has rejected the report's conclusions. US Vice President JD Vance on Thursday said that the Watergate scandal that brought down the Nixon administration would not survive more than 12 hours in today's news cycle. He compared US President Donald Trump with Richard Nixon, suggesting that both of them were targeted by the “deep state” apparatus. Vance was discussing his new book “Communion” at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, California. He suggested that the legacy of Nixon was going through a period of renaissance.“If Watergate happened tomorrow, it would be like a 12-hour news story. Richard Nixon, in his re-election campaign, wiretapped the Democratic headquarters, and the following US Senate hearings, which were televised nationally. The Watergate scandal and Nixon's resignation profoundly shattered public trust and permanently altered how Americans viewed their government. Along with the leaked Pentagon Papers in 1971, it proved that the highest levels of the US government would deliberately lie to the public to protect political interests. 41-year-old Vance was not born during the investigation into Richard Nixon's Watergate scandal. Vance's ambition of being associated with Nixon invites the dark legacy of abuse of executive power and facing rebellion by his own Republican party, and the only US President to resign, Vance is probably ignoring the scandals and trying to replicate his landslide electoral victory.

JD Vance compared Donald Trump to Richard Nixon, claimed the "deep state" targeted both, and argued the Watergate scandal would last only 12 hours today.

US President Donald Trump, at the G7 summit, said that Israel would not exist without the US. He said that he had a strong relationship with Netanyahu but warned him to show more restraint. On the same day, addressing Israeli Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said, "Without Israel, without the Jewish foundation, there would not be America.” He continued that they owed their very existence to what happened in that land. These are contrarian viewpoints held by top US officials in the same administration, so which one is true?
Would the US not exist without Israel, or would Israel not exist without the US?

The US empire and the Israeli occupation are in a co-constitutive or symbiotic relationship. Israel is a settler colonial state established with the fall of the British Empire and the rise of the US Empire. They are structurally codependent parts of a single global imperial system. Israel acts as a US proxy in the most vital, volatile and resource-rich region, which was historically called the Levant. It is the military foothold that maintains US hegemony globally. Without one, the other eventually collapses.By internal logic, a settler colonial state has to have continuous territorial expansion and the subjugation of the indigenous population, which creates a permanent state of warfare, which can be seen since the establishment of Israel as a political entity in 1948. Settler colonialism is imperialism’s forward edge, the tip of its spear. The US and Israel both strategically need each other, even if sometimes rhetorically or even tactically they are opposed; without Israel, the US empire would lose its foothold and most important forward proxy in West Asia. Without the US and its endless stream of military and financial aid, Israel would not exist or could not justify its occupation. Also Read: Can Ukraine isolate Crimea? Attacks on vital supply routes raise pressure on Moscow But there is an inherent contradiction within imperialism. The hegemon needs to stabilise its empire and manage its dominance, whereas the settler colony needs war to fulfil its territorial ambitions and combat its growing fear of dependency. This is why the global resistance unites against both the US and Israel because it knows that localised resistance is toothless; it seeks globalisation of the resistance, which seeks to fight the global capitalist and imperialist apparatus. This is the reason why both the US and Israel jointly target Iran, because it has managed to globalise the resistance and emerged as a blueprint of how to resist against an imperial-settler coalition. In the eschatological view, the US ambassador was implying the Christian Zionist narrative that the US as a nation or the majority of Western nations owes their spiritual and physical survival to Biblical Israel. They imply the Abrahamic covenant, that those who bless Israel will be blessed, while those who oppose Israel will be cursed. While the traditional Christian narrative does not exactly follow the same stream, they consider that the Christian Church succeeded or fulfilled the promises made to biblical Israel through Jesus Christ. But traditional Jewish people do not consider Jesus Christ as sacred or a prophet. Hence, there exists a perpetual conflict of interest within the elites of the US empire.

A federal judge in California on Tuesday (June 24) has barred the Trump administration from making arrests at immigration courts across the United States. The ruling came after federal agents increasingly began detaining migrants outside immigration courts following their asylum hearings after President Donald Trump returned to office. The practice placed many migrants in a difficult position, as failing to appear for immigration hearings can, in certain cases, be considered an offence and may increase the risk of deportation. As a result, many felt compelled to attend court despite the possibility of being arrested. Also read: Germany cancels six F126 frigates after delays, plans shift to smaller warships US District Judge P. Casey Pitts found that the policy breached the Administrative Procedure Act, describing it as “arbitrary and capricious.” He said both ICE and the Executive Office for Immigration Review had not offered adequate justification for the policy and noted that the presence of enforcement agents at courthouses created a “chilling effect” on migrants seeking legal relief. Meanwhile, James Percival, general counsel at Homeland Security, condemned the ruling, stating that a noncitizen ordered to be deported by an immigration judge should be considered similar to the act of a defendant convicted of a crime. "A district judge ordering otherwise is naked judicial activism in service of an anti-American, open borders agenda," he said on his social media platform X. Trump has pushed the boundaries of executive authority in his efforts to tighten immigration enforcement against undocumented migrants, arguing that the United States is facing an influx of criminals and other individuals he considers undesirable.

However, STAT reported on Tuesday that a 79-year-old man has received access to the obesity drug through the Food and Drug Administration’s “compassionate use” program. People with serious or life-threatening medical issues are allowed access to experimental drugs as part of the program. While the report did not name the person, the report suggests it is likely someone with exceptional contacts.
Was the obesity drug for Trump? White House said this
Ranganath Muniyappa, a senior clinician at the National Institutes of Health, requested the drug for the patient in April. It was acquired for a diagnosis of refractory obesity with obstructive sleep apnea and pulmonary hypertension. It is characterised by high blood pressure in the lungs and is life-threatening. Top health officials reportedly attended to the request. STAT reached out to the WHite House to ask whether President Trump was the person the drug was requested for. It stated that White House spokesperson Kush Desai did not deny and referred STAT to the Department of Health and Human Services. Also Read: Donald Trump's medical checkup involved 22 doctors, setting a White House record
White House referred to the health memo, but the disease is not mentioned there
Desai told STAT to take a look at Trump's latest health evaluation report when asked if he had sleep apnea and pulmonary hypertension, claiming it mentioned that in there. Pennsylvania visit is a significant one as it is a swing state and with Trump's approval rating falling constantly due to war, he made sure to use the opportunity as a poll rally speech. "We gotta win the midterms," Trump said, in one of the few references he made to the midterms. Later, however, he suggested it wasn't actually a “political season.” The trip also came amid gasoline price hikes. This is the president's fifth second-term visit to Pennsylvania, a key state whose support in 2016 and 2024 helped him to win the White House. The Macungie, Pennsylvania, facility is in the 7th Congressional District, where incumbent Republican Rep. Ryan Mackenzie faces Democratic challenger Bob Brooks in November. The area is pivotal to Republicans holding narrow control of the House.

A light-hearted moment at a Pennsylvania rally went viral after Trump asked the crowd, “Who did not vote for me?” An unexpected response from an attendee drew laughter and attention online, with the clip quickly spreading across social media and sparking discussion.
