From KING Virat Kohli to MS Dhoni's protégé, Rishabh Pant: Most runs in an IPL season

Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) player Chris Gayle, who was with the franchise from 2011 to 2017, has said that the reason behind the eam not winning a title is that a lot of players felt left out.

Speaking to JioCinema, official digital broadcaster of the IPL 2023, Gayle said he felt that only three players were in the focus at the time when he was with RCB.&nbsp;

"Sometimes, being one of the main players, being the main man of the franchise, I am always in my own zone, pretty much. What I understand when it comes from an RCB point of view is that a lot of players felt left out. A lot of players did not feel like they were a part of the franchise," said Gayle.

"It was like only three players were getting all the attention - myself, Virat, and AB. A lot of players, pretty much mentally, they were nowhere within the team. So that's always going to be a challenge to win a title," he further added. Here's video below:

RCB, despite being considered as one of the top teams in the league, hasn't been able to win a single title in last 15 years. It, however, reached the final in 2009, 2011, and 2016. Virat Kohli, RCB and India's star player, who has been with the team since its inception in 2008, captained the team for most years but couldn't get the team over the line despite holding many individual records.

Chris Gayle, on the other hand, has played 140 matches in the IPL, scoring 4,965 runs at an average of 39.72 and astonishing strike rate of 148.96.

Gayle has also scored six hundreds in the league with the highest being 175 not out - a T20 record still - while playing for RCB against now-defunct franchise Pune Warriors India.

The fact that even after 10 years the record is still intact, speaks volumes about that blazing innings Gayle had played. Recently, Gayle spoke on&nbsp;JioCinema's 'Legend Speak' and picked a batsman who he thinks could break his record of 175 runs in a T20 inning. The batsman Gayle picked is KL Rahul, his former teammate at RCB. Gayle gave the reason that Rahul is very dangerous and can go past 175 if gets a good start.

"For one I think KL Rahul! On his day, he can do it. I don't think he believes in his ability to get that big score but listen to me, we all have seen KL Rahul on the go and if he decided to bat like that sometimes, if not most times which I'd love to see, he definitely can get that. Because when he gets from 15th to the 20th [over], he is very dangerous down there at the death as well, batting-wise. If he gets a good start and gets a big hundred he can definitely get past 175," said Gayle.

Rahul, who recently was dropped from Indian Test side following a string of low-scores, notched up a match-winning 75 off 91 against Australia in the first match of three-ODI series in Mumbai.

In IPL, KL Rahul plays and captains Lucknow Super Giants and has a top score of 132 which he scored in 2020 IPL season against his former team RCB while playing for Kings XI&nbsp;Punjab. The 2023 season of the IPL is set to kick-off on March 31.

Babar also became the 16th batter overall and only the second Pakistani after former captain Shoaib Malik to reach this milestone.

While Chris Gayle still tops the chart with most runs to his name in the T20 format – 14,562, Malik is second on the list with 12,528 runs.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have had a number of superstars play for them in the Indian Premier League (IPL). From the likes of Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble to Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle, RCB have been home to some of the legends of the game. However, despite having a star-studded team over the years, the franchise has failed to lift their&nbsp;maiden IPL title. They have been part of the IPL since its inception in 2008 but have failed to win the tournament even once.

Gayle has arguably been one of RCB's best-ever signings in IPL history and enjoyed tremendous success with the franchise in the IPL. The West Indies legend was incidentally roped in by the franchise as an injury replacement for Australian pacer Dirk Nannes ahead of the 2011 season and went on to prove a sensational signing for the franchise.

Gayle was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad for his first two seasons in IPL in 2009 and 2010 before being released by the team. He was then picked by RCB as a replacement for injured Nannes and went on to take IPL 2011 by a storm with 608 runs in just 12 games at an incredible strike rate of 183.13.

West Indies international Kieron Pollard announced his retirement from international cricket after playing on the global stage for over fifteen years. The veteran all-rounder, who is currently playing in the IPL 2022 with Mumbai Indians, announced the news on social media on Wednesday.

"Hi all, after careful deliberation, I have decided to retire from international cricket. It was a dream of mine to play for West Indies since I was a 10-year-old boy and I am proud to represent the West Indies for over 15 years in T20 and ODI format of the game," Pollard posted on his Instagram page.

In a chat with Gaurav Kapoor in the new season of Breakfast with Champions, Rahul said, "I remember in 2019, I think we played the World Cup and right after it, we went to the West Indies for a series. I played the World Cup, I did decently well and then we went into the series and I got dropped. I was messaging him, he said 'Come by the pool. I'm having a drink'. It was his 300th game the next day so he was very happy and he had some friends over. So I went. I was by the pool. He came, sat with me, spoke to me that why are you not playing."
