<p>Area 51 is a US Air Force base where many have speculated it is connected to unidentified flying objects (UFOs). Although the existence of alien life around the military installation&nbsp;has never been proved but the urban legend has become a part of American conspiracy theory. &nbsp;</p>

<p>Clinton's comments come as NASA said recently it would be launching an investigation into unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs) even as the US Congress held an open discussion on UFOs.</p>

<p>During a hearing last month, a US defence official Scott Bray who is the deputy director of US Naval intelligence had said "since the early 2000s we have seen an increasing number of unauthorized and/or unidentified aircraft or objects in military controlled training areas and training ranges."</p>

<p>The US intelligence report did not rule out the existence of alien life while cataloguing&nbsp;144 sightings that could not be explained by scientists.</p>

<p>We kid you not. As per a report in Vice.com, the US government’s now-defunct Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP) spent millions on this bizarre research and more. Evidently, the research never came to fruition, the Moon is still there as flawed or unflawed as ever.</p>

<p>Reportedly the AATIP even got inspired by everyone’s favourite Harry Potter series and tried to experiment with invisibility cloaks. Other experiments include anti-gravity devices, wormholes through which you can travel and more.</p>

<p>The documents obtained by Vice.com include nearly 1,600 pages of reports, proposals, contracts etc.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Interestingly, the AATIP which was a secret department of the Department of Defense program functioned only for five years, from 2007 to 2012, and became public knowledge because of the New York Times in 2017, when the programme’s former director Luis Elizondo resigned from the Pentagon.</p>

<p>As per the 2017 report $22 million were spent on this programme, and thanks to it the AATIP name became synonymous with UFOs.</p>

<p>However, the newly uncovered documents suggest that the agency was more than just about UFOs.</p>

"If observers were out there searching [from planets orbiting these stars], they would be able to see signs of a biosphere in the atmosphere of our Pale Blue Dot,” study lead author Lisa Kaltenegger, an associate professor of astronomy at Cornell and director of the university's Carl Sagan Institute, said in a statement.<br />

<p>These stars are all within 326 light-years of Earth. "The closest star in our list is at a distance of only 8.5 pc - about 28 light-years - from our Sun," the researchers said.</p>
