<p>On Friday, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar announced that his much-anticipated movie ‘Bell Bottom’ will arrive in cinemas on August 19 this year.&nbsp;</p>

The espionage-thriller was originally slated to release in April but was postponed to July 27 owing to the deadly second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic in India.</p>

<p>Directed by Priyadarshan, ‘Hungama 2’ stars Meezaan Jafri and Pranitha Subash in lead roles. It also features Paresh Rawal and Shilpa Shetty. The film is scheduled to release on Disney+Hotstar on July 23.</p>

Akshay Kumar refutes rumours of collaborating with Suniel Shetty's son Ahan

<p>Authorities on Tuesday (Jan 9) imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) in parts of Shajapur city in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh in the aftermath of alleged stone pelting on participants of a religious procession, news agency PTI reported.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Local media reported that some fringe elements allegedly pelted stones at a rally of young people, who were distributing Akshat (rice) for the Ram Temple.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The rally was passing through the Magaria neighbourhood in the city and the people in procession were giving Akshat. However, they got into an argument with some unidentified people when they arrived at the Moti Masjid area of Magaria.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Reports said that there was a stampede at the rally after the verbal argument escalated into stone pelting. Members of Hindu organisations also arrived at the scene soon as reports of the incident spread.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A police official said that one person was injured in the incident which took place in the Magaria area on Monday evening.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The official added that adequate security has been deployed in the area and an FIR has been&nbsp;registered in this connection. One person was reportedly injured and was rushed to a nearby hospital.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As per reports, Shajapur Collector Riju Bafna said that Section 144 of the CrPC has been imposed with immediate effect in three areas - Magaria, Kachhiwada and Lalpura.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He added the situation is currently peaceful and a case has been registered against the miscreants and further legal action is being taken.&nbsp;</p>

<p><b>&nbsp;</b>This does not mean that they have taken a sabbatical from social media. They are pretty much active and keep us updated with their daily lives: Instagramming photos and posting about their Maldives vacations, upcoming movies, and exercise routines.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Brand endorsements continued as before. While people have been forced to shed hefty amounts for Covid treatment, some cricketers and actors promote luxury products. And there are health supplements too. Because what is a better time to promote a healthy lifestyle than a pandemic?&nbsp;</p>

<p>Some stars started sharing helpline numbers only after receiving a backlash.</p>

<p>But overall, the detachment of Indian celebrities from the unfolding national tragedy seems like they are living in an alternate reality.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It’s not just about reach and influence, but also the money they make. They can donate, share verified leads. Their teams can help them with the process. But none of it happened, in most cases.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The enormity of their silence is amplified by the fact that the stars themselves have not remained untouched by the crisis. Several Bollywood stars tested positive, and the release of their movies has been either postponed or moved to OTT platforms.&nbsp;</p>

<p>There could have been a unified effort from the film, TV and sporting fraternities, using the power of their organisations and deep pockets, to address the crisis. Not a single attempt worth mentioning has been made in that direction.&nbsp;</p>

Actors like Bhumi Pednekar and Sonam Kapoor have been sharing requests for oxygen, medicines on their social media handles and Priyanka Chopra Jonas has been raising funds for India, Sachin Tendulkar has made donations, to name just a few.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Australian cricketer Pat Cummins contributed to India's fight against covid even before some of our celebs came forward.</p>

<p>One can’t forget the contribution of actor Sonu Sood who continues to be a good samaritan. That Sood could send migrants home at the height of the lockdown showed us what a person with resources and influence can do.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kumar and Shakti first worked together on the 2019 drama film 'Mission Mangal', inspired by the story of scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), who contributed to the Mars Orbiter Mission, India's first interplanetary expedition.</p>

<p>The new film is also inspired by true events, a source close to the development said. "This is an action-drama film with a dash of science. It is set in current times. It is inspired by true events. He will play the role of law enforcement officer," the source added.</p>

<p>The script is locked and the shoot is likely to begin next year. "As soon as Akshay fulfils his other commitments we, will begin shooting for this film. There are so many things in the pipeline for him, so we are also waiting to go on floors. Currently due to COVID-19, the schedule of all projects is affected," the source said.</p>
