Tampa By Rays player Amed Rosario, on Saturday (June 22), luckily evaded what could have been a serious injury. The Rays batter got hit by a 100 mph fastball in the first innings of the game against Pittsburgh Pirates.

Pirates pitcher Jared Jones' heater hit Rosario on face and the batter immediately fell on the ground, holding his face. Have a look at the video below:

Rosario was immediately attended by the medics from both team and eventually walked off the field. The good thing, he didn't need support to walk off, suggesting the injury wasn't much serious.

Later on, news outlet Bally Sports Sun reported that Rosario had suffered lacerations on face but escaped a fracture. His helmet flap appeared to have saved him from what could have been a grave injury.

The 28-year-old is having a breakout year in the Major League Baseball (MLB), striking at 301/.323/.416 when he entered the game on Saturday.

Rosario was picked up by the Rays in free agency last season on a $15.5 million, one-year deal. He has previously played for new York Mets, Cleveland Guardians and Los Angeles Dodgers as well.

Mookie Betts fractures wrists

About a week ago, Dodgers'  Mookie Betts also fractured his wrist on Sunday (June 16) after being hit by a 98 mph fastball during the game against the Kansas City Royals.

The incident happened with Dodgers leading 3-0 in bottom of seventh when Royals reliever Dan Altavilla fired in a stinger inside that hit Betts on his left wrist. The Dodgers player immediately fell on the ground, grimacing in pain while holding his wrist. He eventually left the field.

The former Red Sox had smashed .307/.407/.493 with 10 home runs, 40 RBI and nine steals in 71 games this season before being injured.
