Paris Olympics 2024: WATCH | Sha'Carri Richardson sets fastest 100m time of year in US Olympic trials

Sha'Carri Richardson is all set for Paris Olympics 2024. The sprinter booked a berth at the quadrennial games with record time in 100m event at the U.S. trials.

Richardson clocked the time of 10.71 seconds - the fastest this year among women in the 100m event. Watch the race below:

"I feel honoured," said Richardson. "I feel every chapter I've been through in my life designed and prepared me for this moment.

"I cannot wait to go to Paris and represent," she added.

Richardson was supposed to be at Tokyo Olympics as well after winning the same event as this year but was dropped after testing positive for Marijuana.

She now aims to represent the country at her first Olympics and says that she has better understanding of herself.

"In the past three years I've grown - just [a] better understanding of myself, a deeper respect and appreciation for my gift that I have in the sport, and as well as my responsibility to the people that believe and support me," she said.

"I feel like all of those components have helped me grow," added Richardson.

After missing out on the Tokyo Olympics, Richardson won her first major title at the 2023 World Championships in Bucharest, Hungary. She had clocked a time of 10.65 seconds to win the gold medal at the event.

As for Paris games, the 24-year-old sprinter says that she hasn't set a target for herself but was confident for her training.

"I don't put a time on myself, I just know that if I execute and run the race that I've trained [and] prepared for, that the time comes with it," Richardson said.

In the U.S trials, Richardson was slow off the blocks to quickly gained the pace to beat Melissa Jefferson, who came second in 10.80 and Twanisha Terry, who finished third in 10.89 seconds.
