New Delhi, India
IPL 2024 is already a hit with only 22 matches being completed so far. After Chennai Super Kings (CSK) returned to winning ways -- following two successive losses -- with a seven-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in match 22, on Monday (April 8), there have been some changes in the points table for the ongoing edition. With KKR also conceding a game in the ongoing edition, following a three-match unbeaten streak, Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals (RR) remain the only unbeaten team so far in the 10-team tournament.
RR, who are the one-time winners and finalists in the 2022 edition, are at the top in the overall standings. The Jaipur-based franchise have four wins on the trot and will now host the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday (April 10). Before their fifth game, here is a look at the updated points table for IPL 2024:

Teams | Matches | Won | Lost | NRR | Points |
Rajasthan Royals (RR) | 4 | 4 | 0 | 1.120 | 8 |
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) | 4 | 3 | 1 | 1.528 | 6 |
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) | 4 | 3 | 1 | 0.775 | 6 |
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) | 5 | 3 | 2 | 0.666 | 6 |
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) | 4 | 2 | 3 | 0.409 | 4 |
Punjab Kings (PBKS) | 4 | 2 | 3 | -0.220 | 4 |
Gujarat Titans (GT) | 5 | 2 | 3 | -0.797 | 4 |
Mumbai Indians (MI) | 4 | 1 | 3 | -0.704 | 2 |
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) | 5 | 1 | 4 | -0.843 | 2 |
Delhi Capitals (DC) | 5 | 1 | 4 | -1.370 | 2 |
Thus, RR have a lead over all the other nine teams with KKR, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and CSK being one win away to match the Royals' current tally. If RR beat GT on Wednesday evening, they will maintain their lead at the top and go four points ahead of the other teams in the top 4. On the other hand, the likes of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI) are in the bottom-half and in need of a revamp at the earliest to not lag behind in the playoffs race.
Talking about Tuesday evening's (April 9) fixture, the Shikhar Dhawan-led Punjab Kings (PBKS) host the one-time winners Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in match 23 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, Chandigarh. Both teams have been inconsistent so far and, thus, will hope to add a win in their kitty and maintain a favourable streak going ahead.
Overall, expect a lot more changes in the IPL 2024 points table in the upcoming days.
