New Delhi, India
Plenty happened overnight in the cricketing world. While MS Dhoni and Joginder Sharma - the former teammates and now friends reunited, the Indian cricket fans bashed seamer Arshdeep Singh for going for glory and falling flat during the dramatic tied ODI against Sri Lanka in Colombo. Social media was buzzing over these two incidents that made headlines on Friday (August 2).
‘Arshdeep Singh Dhoni’
Team India was sitting comfortably during the chase; needing one run to win off 15 balls with two wickets remaining, Charith Asalanka picked two off two balls, removing Shivam Dube and Arshdeep Singh plum in front of the stumps to help Sri Lanka avoid defeat.
Although his arm ball to Dube didn’t make much noise, his wicket on the next ball to remove Arshdeep was all over social media, with fans coming down hard on the India seamer for playing a reckless shot and getting out.
Instead of trying to put his bat to the ball or snatch a run from somewhere, knowing there were more than a dozen balls left to win the game, the left-handed batter tried slogging it to the leg side, missing it completely, and getting trapped in front.
With that, India lost two wickets in two balls as the first ODI ended in a tie.
Here are some reactions to his dismissal -

Joginder meets Mahi
On the other hand former India all-rounder Joginder Sharma met his ex-captain MS Dhoni in New Delhi and even posted a video with him on his Instagram handle. That post kicked in nostalgia for the Indian fans who recalled their partnership that helped India bring home the first ICC trophy since 1983.
In Johannesburg 14 years ago, all eyeballs were on these two when Pakistan needed 13 off the last over to win the inaugural T20 World Cup; however, what unfolded a few balls later made history.
Joginder Sharma, who bowled the last over ahead of Harbhajan Singh, started with a wide ball before bowling a dot to compensate for that. Although he got hit for a six off the next one, with Pakistan needing six runs from four balls, Joginder pitched the next one closer to the good-length area only for Misbah-ul-Haq to scoop it up and hit it straight to the short fine leg, resulting in his dismissal.
That was the moment that broke the shackles and helped India taste glory, with captain MS Dhoni hogging all the limelight for his masterstroke tactic.
