
The Afghan Taliban government has cancelled the visit of a Pakistani government delegation to Kandahar, whichwas scheduled on Sunday.
The visit, details of which are clearly unavailable until the filing of this story, is shrouded in mystery. Kandahar is the ideological capital of the Talibanmovementwhere its Emir currently resides.
According to a document dated07th of May2024 from the Pakistani Embassy in Kabul, acopy of which is available with WION, “An official delegation of the government of Pakistan” was to travel to Kandahar.

The Taliban governmentonbackgroundmaintains thatthe visit wascancelled following “airstrikes by Pakistan on10th of Mayin Paktika”.Officials say that Pakistan used drones to target a “Tashkil of TTP”, afighting unit of the banned terror outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan which Islamabad has long been alleging, is operated from Afghanistan, an allegation which Afghanistan denies.
Sources say that at least fourterroristswere killedin the Pakistani action thatwas conductedin the wee hours of the10th ofMay,across the border.No official confirmation could be obtainedon theveracityof the strikes.
Earlier this year, Pakistan officially acknowledged having targeted the TTP hideouts across the border on the18th of March2024.
