In a major blow to ousted PM Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan Supreme Court said today that a person disqualified under Articles 62 and 63 cannot serve as party chief.
The Pakistan Supreme Court had disqualified the PML-N chief from the prime minister's post in July last year after a probe panel alleged his family could not account for its wealth.
Sharif later moved petitions challenging the corruption allegation in the Panama Papers scandal which was rejected by the top court.

PML-N quickly nominated Sharif as the party head just hours after Parliament amended the law to allow Sharif re-elected as party chief, however, the Supreme Court today virtually rejected the move.
Justice Nisar who was part of the three-judge panel said in Pakistan's political setup, political parties are personality driven.
