Union MinisterKiren Rijiju had to make an emergency helicopter landing in Itanagar due to inclement weather, but is safe on the ground, ANI reports.
The helicopter carrying Rijiju and seven other passengers and crew was heading to Arunachal Pradesh's Ziro from Guwahati when heavy rains and fog forced it to touch down, NDTV reports.
The pilots, members of the Border Security Force, manouevred for about ten minutes, before making an emergency landing on a small field.
"I was lucky enough to be landed safely, thanks to the BSF pilots who are very experienced," Kiren Rijiju said to the Press Trust of India.
Rijiju was travelling to Ziro to attend the Dree harvest festival.
