Indians living in Iran were advised the Ministry of External Affairs that is closely monitoring the situation to leave the country due to the volatile security situation there.&nbsp;The MEA in a statement said it is "committed to doing whatever is necessary for their well-being."Earlier, Iran had closed its air space for a brief period but after the restrictions were lifted, several Indians chose to return home.&nbsp;On arriving at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi one of the passengers said the Indian Embassy in Iran has been cooperating with them and that the situation in the country is bad.&nbsp;"The conditions are bad there. The Government of India is cooperating a lot, and the Embassy provided us with information on leaving Iran as early as possible...'Modi ji hai toh har cheez mumkin hai'," he said to news agency ANI.&nbsp;While another said, "We were there for a month. But we were only facing problems for the last one or two weeks...When we went outside, the protesters would come in front of the car. They would cause a little trouble...The internet was shut down, which is why we couldn't tell our families anything, so we were a little worried...We couldn't even contact the embassy."&nbsp;Meanwhile, the Indian government is collecting information about Indians stuck in different parts of Iran to bring them back safely. According to the agency, the investigation was initiated on the basis of two FIRs registered by the Delhi Police Crime Branch. The FIRs alleged that the university had falsely claimed accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The Enforcement Directorate has informed the court that it has provisionally attached assets as part of its probe under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). Earlier, the ED told the court that Siddiqui was arrested in connection with alleged money laundering involving the Al Falah Charitable Trust, which controls the university and its affiliated educational institutions. The agency's action followed the Crime Branch FIRs alleging that expired NAAC accreditation grades were falsely advertised by the university and its institutions. The ED has further alleged that claims of regulatory recognition were fabricated to mislead students and parents, thereby inducing admissions and the collection of fees through misrepresentation. The court recorded that the agency's financial analysis indicated that funds collected during the relevant period appeared to be linked to the alleged misrepresentations, bringing them within the ambit of proceeds of crime under the PMLA. Searches conducted across multiple locations led to the recovery of cash, digital devices, and financial records. The ED told the court that certain contracts were allegedly diverted to entities linked to the accused's family, and that senior officials confirmed Siddiqui's role in approving major financial decisions. The agency also pointed to alleged layering of funds through related entities to obscure the money trail. Granting custodial remand earlier, the court said ED interrogation was required to trace additional proceeds of crime, prevent dissipation of assets, and avoid tampering with records. The court also noted the risk of influencing witnesses and the possible flight risk. While Siddiqui's counsel opposed the remand and claimed cooperation, the court held that custodial interrogation was justified given the seriousness of the allegations.

&nbsp;Indian Government telecom firm Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and American Satellite communications firm Viasat announced they are supporting the next phase of the Indian Navy’s satellite communications upgrade program, set to begin later this month.&nbsp;According to the firms, this program will enable the Indian Navy to transition toward a multi-band, multi-constellation Satellite communication strategy, leveraging BSNL’s Gateway Earth Station(ground-based infrastructure) and Viasat’s global satellite network to provide expanded coverage, higher throughput, and improved reliability for mission-critical operations.&nbsp;Todd McDonell, President, International Government, Viasat, said: “This upgrade combines the resilience of L-band with the power of high-throughput Ka-band, providing enhanced connectivity for mission-critical operations. It also reinforces our long-term commitment to India’s defense and maritime communication ecosystem.”&nbsp;"Under an agreement signed between BSNL and the Indian Defense Forces, Viasat’s high-capacity Ka-band satellite systems will be used alongside its existing L-band infrastructure to deliver enhanced, resilient, and secure connectivity for Indian naval platforms. It is a part of the pride and cultural heritage of rural Tamil Nadu, and it draws massive crowds each year.<h2>How is Jallikattu played?</h2>The sport is practised by releasing a bull through a narrow door (vadi vasal) to an arena where the participant tries to hold on to the hump of the bull for some distance or time while the bull tries to escape. The distance and time vary depending on the competition. Tamers or participants are not allowed to touch any other part of the bull, like the neck, the horn or the tail. Historically, the bull used to have a red flag or gold coins tied to its horn, which the tamer would retrieve to complete the sport.&nbsp;<h2>Why was it banned?&nbsp;</h2>The Supreme Court in 2014 banned the sport after concerns from activists from the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) &nbsp;about animal cruelty and danger to human life. During the sport, participants and even the observers were at risk. Sometimes, bulls are provoked with alcohol, sticks, knives, sickles and throwing chilli powder in the eyes. In the four years leading to the ban, almost 17 people died, and 1000 others were injured in the sport. The Supreme Court held that “use of bulls in such events severely harmed the animals and constituted an offence under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.” But following massive protests against the ban, the government passed an amendment to the act in 2017, which was held by a constitutional bench in 2023, allowing the sport to continue under strict regulation.

Across Maharashtra, elections were held in major municipal corporations, including Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Kalyan-Dombivli, Vasai-Virar, Mira-Bhayandar, Solapur, Kolhapur, Amravati, Akola, Latur, Jalgaon, Dhule, Jalna, Chandrapur, Parbhani, Nanded-Waghala, Panvel, Bhiwandi-Nizampur, Malegaon, Sangli-Miraj-Kupwad, Ichalkaranji, Ahilyanagar, and Ulhasnagar.

BMC elections 2026 saw a big turnout speciallly from the Bollywood fraternity. However, some of the big names like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Madhuri Dixit skipped voting on Thursday.&nbsp;
