When he later attempted to contact her and was rebuffed, he allegedly felt humiliated and decided to seek revenge, according to a report in the NDTV.&nbsp;Investigators revealed that Omprakash rode past the girl as she was walking to her school in the Subhash Park area of Sri Ganganagar district and hurled a bottle of acid at her. The acid caused burns to her clothes and one finger, narrowly avoiding more serious injuries.<h3>The accused concealed his identity</h3>After an acid attack, the accused had planned to escape from the police as he had concealed his identity by covering his face with a cloth and a helmet, along with wrapping the bike's number plate with another cloth. The police revealed that Omprakash was annoyed over unrequited love.&nbsp;The unfolded incident was caught on camera, but the accused couldn't be identified initially as he had covered his face and vehicle number plate. Later, when the police scanned CCTV footage from the area, the accused was caught based on technical and local clues and arrested.&nbsp;Superintendent of Police Dr Amrita Duhan had declared a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for any tip-off leading to the accused. They targeted senior citizens struggling with paralysis or walking difficulties, falsely telling them their condition was caused by “black blood” inside their bodies.&nbsp;The gang claimed they could remove this so-called toxic blood through a special treatment. Victims were allegedly charged ₹7,000 for every ‘drop’ extracted. Several elderly individuals reportedly believed the claims and paid large amounts. The scam was uncovered after a manager at a public sector bank’s Drive-in Road branch noticed a senior citizen repeatedly withdrawing large sums from a fixed deposit over two days. Amid the prevailing row over Election Commission of India(ECI)'s special intensive revision (SIR) in West Bengal, TMC National General Secretary and MP, Abhishek Banerjee, on Monday (Jan 19) welcomed the Supreme Court's decision directing the Election Commission to display the names of the electors falling under the 'logical discrepancies' category in the ongoing SIR of the electoral rolls in West Bengal.&nbsp;The TMC MP dubbed the decision a defeat for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying that the apex court accepted the party's demand of publishing the names in the 'logical discrepancies' category.&nbsp;"There was a hearing in the Supreme Court regarding SIR, with AITC having filed the case. About 20 days ago, on December 31, we held a meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner. It was suggested that the list of logical discrepancies be published. If they had published the list, the truth would have become clear. We mentioned that BLA 2 of AITC would be present at the hearing venue, but ECI rejected it," Banerjee said, addressing a rally in West Bengal's Barasat.&nbsp;The controversy erupted after more than 1.2 crore names were flagged under the ‘logical discrepancy’ category on the ERONET portal, reigniting the row over the SIR exercise in the state. On Wednesday night, Leonov allegedly killed Vaneeva sometime after 11 pm by “slitting her neck with a sharp knife”. Following the murder, the police took the accused to 14-day police custody on Saturday.
