
InfosysfounderNarayana Murthy had once touched the feet of Chairman Emeritus ofTata Sons Ratan Naval Tata and expressed his admiration for the business tycoon.
Tata breathed his last on October 9 (Wednesday) at Mumbai'sBreach Candy Hospital where he was admitted because ofage-related ailments.
As the country mourns the loss, it is now being remembered how Murthy once touched Tata's feet.
This happened when Murthy was presenting theLife Time Achievement AwardtoRatan Tata at the TiEconMumbai Hall of Fame Awards ceremony.
The gesture of touching someone's feet is a way of showing respect in the Indian culture and this gesture of Murthy was appreciated on social media.

At the event, Murthy said, ”What can one say about a humanist, an industrialist, a philanthropist and a perfect gentleman? All that I can say is that I feel privileged and honoured to have walked in his footsteps.”
Murthy said that Tata has added a lot of respect to the word business, “I think all of you entrepreneurs assembled here have to live worthy of belonging to the same club as he is,” he said.
“He (Ratan Tata) has received innumerable honours from countries and institutions all over the world. It's too long a list. All that I can say is that they honoured themselves by honouring him," said Infosysfounder.
Expressing his sorrow at the demise of Ratan Tata to Moneycontrol, Murthy said, "Losing a dear friend like Ratan is very painful. Ratan was a role model for me in value-based leadership. He was indeed a moral compass whenever I had some ambiguity and confusion in ethical issues.”

“He was concerned with the future of India and spent time with youngsters and entrepreneurs. Once I took my college-going daughter to him and he spent three hours with her answering every question of hers with patience, passion, concern and lucidity. May his soul rest in peace”, the Infosysfounder added.
