
As the nation moves into lockdown 3.0, Varanasi'sDistrict Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma has issued a statement keeping in mind the needs of the public and their safety.
He has assured people that the essential shops will be open, however there will be certain restrictions on operating days. A roster-based system will be followed to make sure all essential shops are operating, but with safety precautions. The roster will soon be released in which the city will bedivided into some zones and only selected shops will open on a particular day. Every zone will also have a police station to overlook the arrangements, and to make sure that everyone follows the health precautions.
According to the order issued by the DM, all medical shops will be open from 1 am to 3 pm till May 3, and milk shops will be allowed to operatebetween 7 am and 8 am."Selling of milk, vegetables, ration and other essential commodities from vehicles in all street neighbourhoods will be allowed till 6 pm. And home delivery of these items is also allowed till 6 pm," he said.
Keeping in mind the rise in demand of opening wholesale medicines' market, he has also announced that the wholesale market will be allowed to operate from May 04.
There has been a surge in the positive cases in Varanasi, as there have been 12 new cases in the past 24 hours. Uttar Pradesh has more than 2,000 cases with a death toll of 41.
