Mumbai reports 751 cases, Delhi records 223 coronavirus cases in 24 hours

Mumbai on Friday reported 751 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the number of cases to 7,625 with the death toll rising to 295 in India's financial capital.

In Maharashtra, 1,008 new coronavirus cases were reported taking the total number of cases to 11,506 which is the highest in India.

India's capital also witnessed a surge in cases with 223 new cases and 2 deaths on Friday.

There are now 3,738 coronavirus cases in Delhi with 2510 active cases. Sixty-one people have died due to the virus in the capital.

Authorities in Punjab said that 137 people have tested positive for coronavirus after returning homefrom Hazur Sahib in Nanded in Maharashtra.

In Rajasthan, 82 more people tested positive for coronavirus with the total number of cases rising to 2,666 in the state. There have been 62 deaths due to COVID-19 in the state.

The death toll in Madhya Pradesh rose to 145 with the total nunber of cases rising to 2,715. Telangana also reported new cases with six people falling ill with the virus as the number of cases rose to 1,044.

People who are returning to Telangana will be quarantined upon their arrival, the state health minister Etela Rajender said.
