Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan met with BJP President Amit Shah on Sunday raising various demands from the party in alliance including a special status for Bihar.

In the meeting, Paswan stressed on the need to bring an ordinance to restore the original stringent provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The Supreme Court, in a recent order, had introduced new guidelines which, almost every political party has claimed, dilutes the law and will lead to a rise in crimes against Dalits.
Also highlighting the demand for the special status to Bihar, he said Bihar is a backward state so the status must be granted to it.
He said, "As far as special status to Bihar is concerned, we have been demanding for it. Bihar is a backward state so the status must be granted to it. Govt must listen to our pleas".

A JDU national spokesperson later confirmed that theparty will not part ways with its ally, BJP. He saidthat the party would stay in NDA and continue to fight for the special status for Bihar.
