Shiv Sena's demand to not to announce the results of Palghar bypoll has been rejected by Election Commission, according to news agency ANI. The winning certificate has been given to the BJP candidate, Rajendra Gavit by Palghar collector, the report added.
After they lost the Palghar bypoll to BJP, Uddhav Thackeray of Shiv Sena demanded recounting of votes and alleged discrepancy in the voting pattern.
Addressing a press conference, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray said that said that there were some discrepancies in counting and appealed to the Election Commission to announce the results after those discrepancies are sorted out.
As the results of Palghar bypoll was in favour of BJP, Thackeray said if needed they will go to court.
''If needed, we will go to court. But, whatever I have said about our democracy, election process and the threat to it, was very serious,'' he added.
He also alleged corruption in election commission and said that EC should not be appointed but elected.
''Seeing the corruption in Election Commission, I would suggest that even election commissioners should not be appointed, but elected,'' Thackeray said.
He also attacked Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and said he is losing in his own state and he is coming to campaign here (Maharashtra).
