National Investigation Agency (NIA) has now took over the Pahalgam terror attack investigation. The ministry of home affairs (MHA) directed the agency to accelerate the probe into the Aprill 22 terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir that took 26 innocent lives.
The agency is camping at the Pahalgam terror attack site since Wednesday (April 23).
In a statement, NIA said, "The teams, overseen by an IG, a DIG and an SP from the anti-terror agency, are examining the eyewitnesses who had seen the horrifying attack unfold before their eyes at the peaceful and picturesque Baisaran valley. The eyewitnesses are being questioned in minute detail to piece together the sequence of events that led to one of the worst terror attacks in Kashmir."
After the terrorist attack, the Center has taken multiple decisions against Pakistan, including the Indus Water Treaty.
Retaliatory measures
The Indian government held an all-party meeting after the attack in which the opposition gave its full support to the BJP-led government to take any move against Pakistan.
However, the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi raisd a question at the Center that why there were no soldiers at the site in Pahalgam where the attack happened.

Answering the question, the Narendra Modi-led government explained that the Baisaran area (site where the attack happened) was customarily secured ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra (a religious pilgrimage). The Yatra is set to begin from June.
