The Delhi government and the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) also came under fire previously for delaying compliance of orders of NGT's Yamuna cleaning project in October 2017.

The Kejriwal government and the DJB were asked to show cause for why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against them.

The green panel said it was a matter of great regret that the judgement of the tribunal in relation to the cleaning and rejuvenation of Yamuna river, passed on January 13, 2015, have not been complied with by till date.
