In a subsequent post, the army said, "Indian Army acted on intelligence, anticipating the threat to a Village Defence Guard in a remote area in Rajouri-Reasi. Tactical teams swiftly intervened, ensuring no harm to the VDC member and his family. Operations are continuing and a firefight is in progress."
Media reports suggested that one soldier was injured and hospitalised. However, there has been no official confirmation.
In the last few months, there has been a spike in terror attacks in the Jammu region. Last Thursday, army troops opened fire after suspicious movement near the Line of Control in the Sunderbani area of Rajouri.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, two army soldiers were injured in an encounter with terrorists in the Kastigarh area of the Doda district.
