
After an investigation of fivedays by the Income Tax department officials on the multiple premises of VK Sasikala and her relatives, the IT department has seizedpapers that reveal over 1400 crore worth of "unaccounted-for" investments in real estate.
Besides this cash amounting to Rs 7.14 crore and jewellery valuing Rs 5 crore was also found.
An IT official also said that a considerable amount of diamondjewellerywas also found, which is yet to be valued.
About 16 bank lockers had been frozen so far, said an IT official.
A major part of property related documents were seized from the properties of Sasikala's nephew and Jaya TV CEO Vivek Jayaraman, his sister Krishna Priya and their auditor.
Documents relating to the import of fleet of foreign cars were seized from the Chennai house of Sasikala's niece.
Also, cash amounting to Rs 55 lakh was seized from a Women's College owned by Sasikala's brother V Dhivaharan.
Search operationswere conducted on over 187 premises owned by VK Sasikala and her family members.
A senior Income Tax official said, "The seized documents show that at the time of demonetisation, huge amounts of old notes were converted into gold at Midas,"
After completing the search operation on Monday-I-T investigation team took Sasikala's nephew Vivek and his brother in law Prabhu to their office for further questioning.
