International cricket returns to J&K, over 100 cricketing stars to play in Srinagar for Legends League Cricket

It is after four long decades that Kashmir Valley will be witnessing International Cricket Matches. Indian and International cricketing stars will be playing cricket in the Valley after almost half a century during the final leg of the Legends League Cricket. The series would kickstart on September 20 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, while seven matches, including the final, will be played in Srinagar.

Srinagar would be hosting over 100 international cricket stars in October for the Legends League Cricket. Cricketers like Mohammad Kaif, Shikhar Dhawan, Dinesh Karthik, Harbhajan Singh, Suresh Raina, Chris Gayle, Ross Taylor, lan Bell, andothers will be live in action in Kashmir for the first time ever. Seven matches, including the final, will be played between October 9 and October 16 at the Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar.

''It was decided last year that we will be coming to Srinagar. It was after the response we got in Jammu, and we got a lot of queries about why not in Kashmir. So, we decided to come here this year. Srinagar is getting the best by all six teams coming at the same time to play the last seven matches, including the final. It's very inspiring for the youngsters, seeing their heroes working hard on the field will be great for them. We chose the stadium which has the maximum capacity, as we wanted most of the people to come and watch it live,'' said Raman Raheja, Co-Founder, Legends League Cricket.

It will also be the first opportunity for the youngsters of the valley to come to the stadium and watch live cricket action for the first time in 40 years. Hosting International Cricket matches in Srinagar will also provide a unique opportunity for the cricketers to experience Kashmir Valley. This will not only give a boost to the cricket enthusiasts of the Valley but also create a platform for the young to get inspired to take cricket as their career.

''The amount of crowd we saw at Jammu last year was unbelievable and we are hoping in Srinagar we will see the same love. I am sure fans would come in huge numbers to come and watch us play. I have been here before on a holiday and this time I will come to play; all the greats of cricket will be here to play. Shikhar Dhawan would be playing here. It's great news for Srinagar. I have seen the passion people have for cricket here. Srinagar deserves this kind of recognition, and we are here to support the locals,'' said Mohammad Kaif, Gujarat Greats, Legends League Cricket.
