India's population could surpass that of China's around 2030 and is projected to touch 1.7 billion in 2050, according to a population report.

2018 World Population Data Sheet: Released by the Population Reference Bureau (PRB), a Washington-based non-profit organisation, said that India will become the world’s most populous country with 1.7 billion people, with China in second place at 1.3 billion. Currently, China is at 1.39 billion, compared with 1.35 billion in India.

The PRB figures demonstrate that, right now, the Indian and Chinese populaces are evaluated to be 1.37 and 1.39 billion separately. 

While India's populace is relied upon to achieve 1.53 and 1.68 billion by mid-2030 and mid-2050, China's is probably going to achieve 1.42 billion by mid-2030 and afterwards tumble to 1.34 billion by mid-2050.

India will also register the largest increase in the population of any country, adding 323 million people by 2050. Nigeria will post the second-largest rise at 220 million, followed by the Democratic Republic of Congo at 134 million.

According to a UN report, In India, life expectancy at birth will be 71 years in 2025-2030, growing to 74.2 years in 2045-2050. The under-five mortality rate will decline from 32.3 deaths under age five per 1,000 live births in 2025-2030 to 18.6 in 2045-2050.

Ten countries are expected to account collectively for more than half of the world's projected population increase over the period 2017-2050: India, Nigeria, Congo, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Tanzania, the United States, Uganda, Indonesia and Egypt.
