The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) issued an apology to passengers, who found 'cockroach' in the food served during their journey. A social media user, who goes by Vidit Varshney, raised a complaint on X, alleging that his uncle and aunt were served a meal with a 'cockroach' on the Vande Bharat Express, running from Bhopal to Agra.

In the post, Varshney wrote: "On 18-06-24, my uncle and aunt were travelling from Bhopal to Agra in Vande Bharat. They got 'COCKROACH' in their food from @IRCTCofficial."

"Please take strict action against the vendor and make sure this would not happen again @RailMinIndia @ AshwiniVaishnaw @RailwaySeva," the post added.

IRCTC responded two days after the social media complaint. Promising a 'suitable penalty' on the concerned service provider, it wrote, "Sir, we apologise for the travel experience you had." 

"The matter has been viewed seriously and suitable penalty has been imposed on concerned service provider. We have also intensified the production and logistics monitoring," IRCTC added.

Railway Seva, which is the official passenger support channel for Indian Railways, also responded to Varshney's complaint. "We regret the experience you had. Please share your PNR number and mobile no. preferably via DM to enable us to take immediate action," it said. 

The social media post garnered a lot of attention with over 201.4K views. Other users also commented on it, with one recalling a similar incident. The user allegedly found a "part of wire in the Veg Biryani served for lunch" while travelling from Ahmedabad to Mumbai on Tejas Express on June 8.
