Indian army foils infiltration bid along LoC in J&K, one soldier injured
Twin terror attacks in Kashmir, former sarpanch killed while tourist couple critically injured
The Indian Army thwarted an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Battal early on Tuesday (July 22) morning.
One soldier was injured during the heavy exchange of fire with the terrorists.
“Alert troops foiled an infiltration bid by effectively engaging infiltrating #terrorists with effective fire in the #Battal Sector at 0300h. During the exchange of heavy fire, one braveheart has been injured. Operations are continuing,” Indian Army's White Knight Corps (16 Corps) said in apost on X.
Second attack in 24 hours
Tuesday’s attack comes a day after terrorists attacked the house of a Village Defence Guard (VDG) member in Gundha, Rajouri on Monday (July 21).

However, an alert Army unit responded quickly preventing major loss. Parshottam Kumar, who was the target of the attack was recently awarded the Shaurya Chakra by President Droupadi Murmu.
Surge in terror activities in Jammu
The Jammu & Kashmir region has seen a surge in terror attacks across Jammu, resulting in deaths of 27 people, including 11 security personnel, a village defense guard, and five terrorists.
On Thursday (July 18), two army personnel were wounded in a gunfight with terrorists in Doda. A temporary camp at a government school in Jaddan Bata village was targeted by the terrorists, leaving a soldier critically injured, who was airlifted to a hospital in Udhampur.
While in a separate incident, security forces at a forward post near the LoC in the Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district fired at suspicious movement late Wednesday (July 17) night.
On July 16, four army personnel, including an officer, were killed in a gunfight with heavily armed terrorists in Doda district.
While a week ago, five soldiers were killed and five others were injured in a terrorist ambush in Kathua district’s Machedi forest belt.
On Saturday (July 20), Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi reviewed the security situation in a joint meeting with police, paramilitary forces, and intelligence agencies in Jammu, amid a series of attacks in the region.
