Delhi rain
India weather: On Thursday (Sep 12), many parts of Delhi and the Indian National Capital Region (NCR) woke up to pouring rain, which, as per weather predictions, will likely continue for at least another day.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the region will witness rain until Friday. A yellow alert — moderate rainfall — has been issued for the city.
More rainfall will be accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds up to 30 kmph until Friday.
According to reports, the rain may cause water-logging, especially in low-lying areas, and possible disruptions.
Besides the national capital, adjoining states of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and northern Madhya Pradesh will likely get rain between September 11 and September 14, said the weather agency.
Isolated places in West Uttar Pradesh will likely face extremely heavy rain. Meanwhile, heavy rainfall is expected in isolated places in Uttarakhand, east Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and east and west Rajasthan.
The heavy downpour is due to a depression that has formed over the Bay of Bengal and which has now settled over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Southwest Uttar Pradesh.
"Depression over Northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining southwest Uttar Pradesh (UP) near latitude 26.3°N and longitude 78.2°E, close to Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh), about 100 km south of Agra (UP). To move slowly north-northwestwards during next 24 hours. System is under continuous surveillance of Doppler Weather Radars at Delhi and Lucknow," said the IMD in a post on X.

Furthermore, in its weather advisory for 12th-18th September, the IMD said, "Heavy to very heavy falls are likely over most parts of northwest & central India and north Peninsular India (specially over Gujarat and Ghats areas of Maharashtra, where isolated extremely heavy rainfall may also occur on some days) with isolated heavy falls over remaining parts of coastal states (Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, Konkan & Goa, Ghat areas of Karnataka & Maharashtra and Gujarat), east & northeast India and rest parts of south Peninsular India during most days of the week."
