
A fresh gunfight erupted in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu and Kashmir (J-K)on Tuesday (Oct 29) with Indian security forces neutralising one terrorist, the news agency PTI reported citing officials.
The encounter began as three terrorists fired at an Indian Army ambulance that was part of a convoymoving near the Line of Control (LoC) on Monday morning. One terrorist was killed on Monday evening and security forces neutralised the second on Tuesday morning.
Officials told PTI that efforts were on to neutralise the third terrorist.
In a post on X, the White Knight Corps said that swift retaliation by security forces ensured that no one was injured in the attack on the army convoy.
"The area has been cordoned off, and a search operation to neutralise the terrorists is ongoing," the White Knight Corps said.
In an update, the White Knight Corps said an army dog named Phantom died in the operation.
"As our troops were closing in on the trapped terrorists, Phantom drew enemy fire, sustaining fatal injuries. His courage, loyalty, and dedication will never be forgotten," the regiment further said.
