Bengaluru Congress Youth leader Mohammed Haris Nalapad on Monday surrendered before police after a case of assault was registered against him.
The 24-year-old Nalapad is accused of allegedly thrashing a man in a pub in Bengaluru's UB City and later threatening him at a hospital where the victim went for treatment.
Nalapad was yesterday expelled for six years from the Congress, the ruling party in the state, in connection with the incident.
"Nalapad has been expelled from the Congress for six years. Atrocities in any form is not tolerated in @INC Karnataka," party's state unit president G Parameshwara had tweeted.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also condemned the incident and assured to take necessary action against the offenders.

Meanwhile, opposition Bharatiya Janata Party staged demonstration against Nalapad and Congress outside the police station.
As per media reports, the victim was having dinner at a restaurant in UB City when Nalapad and his friends walked in. The group told the victim, who had a plaster on one of his legs, to sit properly.
After a heated exchange, Nalapad and his friends allegedly attacked the victim and beat him up.
Later, he was rushed to the nearby Hospital for treatment, but the group followed him there and threatened him.
The police are probing the case.
