After schools, several hospitals in Delhi receive bomb threat emails

Delhi hospitals receive bomb threats

At least four Delhi hospitals received bomb threat calls on Tuesday (May 14) morning, weeks after several schools in Delhi and other major Indian cities reported bomb hoax emails.

The hospitals in Delhi including Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital, GTB Hospital, Dada Dev Hospital, Hedgewar Hospital among others received bomb threat emails on Tuesday, the Delhi Fire Department said.

The emails are being verified, said the Fire department. More details are awaited.

On Sunday (May 12), several hospitals and the international airport in Delhi received bomb threats via email. Then on Monday (May 13), four schools in Jaipur received bomb threats in a similar manner. The children were immediately sent home and the bomb squad and sniffer dogs were deployed.

The threat emails were first reported by Burari Hospital and Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Delhi, prompting authorities to dispatch teams of bomb disposal squads to both hospitals.

According to the Delhi Police, nothing suspicious was found at the Burari Hospitalwhich received the threat around 3:00 pm (local time).

Bomb scare at schools

Earlier this month, over 100 schools in the national capital, a few in the adjoining region of Gautam Buddha Nagarand one in Lucknow received bomb threats via email.

The e-mails were sent to 131 schools in the Indian capital, five in Gurugram, and three in Noida and Greater Noida.

Around three days after that incident, three schools in the Indian city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat also received threats.

The police tried to trace the origin of the hoax bomb emails and said that they were believed to have been sent from Russia and were aimed at creating panic.
