Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has opted to stay away from the conversation of his future as his side is more focused onSunday’sLa Liga game against Rayo Vallecano. Talks of Xavi getting sacked emerged on Friday (May 17) after the Barcelona boardwasreported to beunhappy with his recent words on Real Madrid being a more stable club in finances. However, with an opportunity to seal the second spot in La Liga, Xavi has avoided any such conversation and assured that he retains thefaith of the management.

"The president Laporta has sent me positive messages, nothing else. Full focus on tomorrow'sgameIfeel good,I'mhappy,it'sgreat to be Barçamanagerasit'sthe best club in the world.I'msure things can go very well in the future for our project,”Xavi said while speaking in the pre-match press conference.

On Friday, reports ofXavi’sfuture surfaced in Spanish media as the boardwas considering sacking him.The 44-year-old spoke on the financial situationof the clubstatingBarcelona won’tcompete with them on all fronts.While nothing is concrete yet, the board isreported to betaking the claims seriously and could come up with a decision at the end of the season.

Interestingly,it was only in April that the Barcelona board managed toreverseXavi’sdecision to leave the club.Earlier in the seasonaftera poor start to theseason and pressure in other competitions, Xavi announced his departure from the club, stating that the 2023-24 season will be his last.

While the talks of exit are now on, both the club and Xavi will look to end the season on a winning note. Despite no silverware, Barcelona could finish the season in second place and could confirm the position on Sunday. A win for Barcelona or a defeat for Girnoa will see the Catalonian side will see the former confirm their second spot in La Liga.
