Brad Pitt’s battle with alcohol came under the spotlight due to an infamous altercation with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie during a family trip on a private jet in 2016. The incident ultimately led to the collapse of his marriage. Legal filings during the divorce claimed that he had assaulted Jolie and two of their children during the flight. US prosecutors finished questioning their 34th and final witness in the seventh week of testimony, after which the defense delivered a brief case in which they opted against calling anyone further to the stand.

Both legal teams in the trial of Sean "Diddy" Combs rested their case on Tuesday, ushering in the final phases of the high-profile proceedings gripping a Manhattan federal courthouse. US prosecutors finished questioning their 34th and final witness in the seventh week of testimony, after which the defense delivered a brief case in which they opted against calling anyone further to the stand. That included Combs himself: it is common for defendants not to testify in their own trial, as taking the mic could open them up to potentially incriminating themselves. In a short, standard exchange with Judge Arun Subramanian, Combs confirmed that he would not take the stand on his own behalf. "Is it your decision not to testify in this case?" the judge asked, to which Combs responded: "That is my decision, your honor." "It is solely my decision," he continued, before adding that he came to that conclusion "with my lawyers." "It's my decision to make. I'm making this freely." The defense rested after presenting a number of exhibits, a process that lasted less than half-an-hour. It's not abnormal for defense teams to opt against presenting witnesses; the obligation to prove guilt lies on prosecutors, and unless jurors decide they have, the defendant is presumed innocent. Marathon closing arguments are expected to begin on Thursday, after which jurors will be tasked with deciding the fate of the 55-year-old Combs, who faces life in prison if convicted on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation for purposes of prostitution. Also on Tuesday the defense presented to the judge their acquittal motion -- an argument that the prosecution has not met its burden of proof for each of the five charges. Such efforts are common in these types of cases, but acquittals are almost never granted. - 'Freak-offs' - Since early May, prosecutors have aimed to draw connections across a web of witnesses, phone records and travel bookings in a bid to show that Combs was the kingpin of an enterprise that carried out crimes including bribery, arson and kidnapping to enforce his power and satisfy his every desire. The prosecution said the artist and entrepreneur trafficked women and men for drug-fueled sexual marathons, sometimes days-long encounters dubbed "freak-offs" or "hotel nights." Some of the events were filmed, and jurors have watched a number of sexually explicit clips. Government attorneys closed their questioning by offering reams of text messages and other records for jurors to review, documentation of dozens of freak-offs that they say also shows arrangements for prostitution and trafficking. As testimony of the last summary witness -- someone brought in to explain data and records to jurors -- wrapped up, prosecutor Maurene Comey delivered a staccato burst of questions to emphasize elements of charges related to transportation with the intent of prostitution. Combs denies all charges. Lawyers for Combs have insisted that what prosecutors have called sex trafficking was consensual. Three women have testified in graphic detail of harrowing sexual, physical and emotional abuse. The singer Casandra Ventura, Combs's girlfriend for more than a decade, filed suit against Combs in 2023, a civil case that was settled out of court in less than 24 hours -- but which opened the floodgates for a deluge of accusations against the one-time music industry powerhouse. She was among the key witnesses to testify at the trial, and jurors were repeatedly shown now-infamous surveillance footage of Combs violently kicking and dragging Ventura in a hotel. A hotel security guard testified that he received $100,000 in a brown paper bag from Combs in exchange for the disturbing tape, which CNN published last year. Jurors are not sequestered but are instructed every day not to consume any media about the case -- a mighty task, as news of the trial has permeated both traditional and social media.

<p>US prosecutors finished questioning their 34th and final witness in the seventh week of testimony, after which the defense delivered a brief case in which they opted against calling anyone further to the stand.</p>

<p>Actor Randeep Hooda, often celebrated as the shape-shifter of Indian cinema, has once again set the internet abuzz with a striking new look he dropped on his social media today. Sporting a partially bald head and an intense expression, the actor posted a selfie with the caption: “What’s the tea for this Tuesday? Coffee isn’t the only thing that’s brewing!”</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>While the post gave away no specifics, fans were quick to speculate that this dramatic transformation could be for an upcoming film. Sources close to the actor confirmed that the look is from a recent trial for a brand-new project that Hooda is expected to begin filming soon. Known for diving deep into his roles with physical and emotional intensity, the actor has previously undergone extreme transformations for films like Sarbjit, Main Aur Charles and Swatantrya Veer Savarkar — and this new look seems to be yet another bold step in that direction.</p>

<p>When the first season of <i>Panchayat</i> was released on Prime Video back in 2020, it brought the simplistic village life to our screens in the cities. At a time when the nation was binge-watching a lot of content on the OTT space, thanks to the forced lockdown during the first phase of the COVID-19 lockdown, the story of Phulera Village and its people felt like a breath of fresh air. From the reluctant, MBA aspirant Abhishek Tripathi or Sachivji finding home among the people of Phulera, to Pradhan and his family, to Vikas and Prahlad Cha- Panchayat’s characters felt unique yet very rea,l and people sitting in the comforts of their homes could resonate with their simple, often humorous village life. <p>As soon as Prada shared a video of models walking the runway in what seemed to be a slicker, plain version of the popular Indian design, social media erupted with reactions. Most were amused, but some were outrage,d and many questioned the lack of cultural credit. &nbsp;</p><h2>Internet reacts: ‘Sarojini went international’<br>&nbsp;</h2><p>Celebrity stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania called out the Luxury brand as she shared a photo from the Prada show on Instagram and pointed out what was on everyone’s mind- these weren't just any designer sandals; they were "a pair of good old Kolhapuri chappals."<br>&nbsp;</p><p>Diet Sabya, meanwhile, shared a long post on how the West was now borrowing from Indian craftsmanship and giving it a label and putting an exorbitant price tag on it.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>“All that embroidery, all that artisanal flex, all produced in India. Always has been,” they added.<br>&nbsp;</p><p>The internet, too, did not hold back as they called out Prada for stealing an idea and not giving due credit.&nbsp;</p><p><br>"How easily brands take away the OG identity and think it’s ok to do that… Guts" wrote a user while another hilariously pointed out, "Sarojini went international."&nbsp;</p><p><br>Another user expressed, "What's new? Take something from us and rebrand them and call it avant garde. I see exploitation.&nbsp;🙃"</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>One wrote, “These joggers are at every street vendor in Delhi’s Lajpat, Sarojini, Karol Bagh, etc. markets&nbsp;😮‍💨 for ₹150-300&nbsp;🥲.”</p><p><br>While fashion always reinvents, Prada’s new design seems to be slightly tone deaf without the label giving appropriate credit to Indian craftsmen.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p>

Originating in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, these leather one-toe slippers have been part of Indian traditional wear for time immemorial. The luxury brand seems to have taken inspiration, rebranded it for the West.

Kolhapuri slippers for Rs 100,000? Prada’s new luxury footwear gets slammed on Internet

<p>Salman Khan is one of those Bollywood superstars who prefers to stay away from the media spotlight and keeps his personal life private. However, he recently made an appearance on the new season of <i>The Great Indian Kapil Show,</i> where he opened up about his serious health struggles.</p><p><br>In the episode that was released on Netflix, the 59-year-old actor disclosed that he has a brain aneurysm, an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and trigeminal neuralgia.</p><p><br>"I'm out here breaking my bones every day - ribs are fractured, I'm working despite having trigeminal neuralgia, there's an aneurysm in the brain, yet I'm still working. There is also an AV malformation, and still, I'm carrying on," he said.</p><p><br>A brain aneurysm, arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and trigeminal neuralgia are serious neurological disorders that can be difficult for a layman to understand. To help understand these conditions, WION took insights from Dr. Sunil V Furtado, who provided an in-depth explanation of each disorder and its potential effects.</p><h2><br>What are &nbsp;Brain Aneurysm, AVM, and Trigeminal Neuralgia?</h2><p><br>The brain, the body's central control system, is both resilient and susceptible to a range of conditions that can drastically alter the course of a person’s life. Among these are brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), and trigeminal neuralgia, each different in nature but sharing the potential to cause severe consequences if left untreated or not diagnosed on time.<br>&nbsp;</p><p>Brain Aneurysm: A brain aneurysm is a weak spot in a blood vessel in the brain, bulging out like a tiny balloon. This "outpouching" can bleed devastatingly in the brain or can put pressure on surrounding nerves or brain tissue. Most aneurysms occur in the Circle of Willis, a network of arteries at the base of the brain.<br>&nbsp;</p><p>Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM): An AVM is a tangle of abnormal blood vessels in the brain where arteries connect directly to veins, bypassing the crucial capillaries. This direct connection leads to high-pressure blood flowing into veins not designed to handle it, increasing the risk of bleeding.<br>&nbsp;</p><p>Trigeminal Neuralgia: This is a chronic pain condition affecting the trigeminal nerve, which carries sensation from your face to your brain. It's characterised by sudden, severe, electric shock-like pain, usually on one side of the face.<br>&nbsp;</p><h2>How Dangerous Are They?<br>&nbsp;</h2><p><strong>• Brain Aneurysm: </strong>A ruptured aneurysm is life-threatening. One-third of people die immediately. Survivors often have severe brain damage. &nbsp;Unruptured ones can also cause problems.<br>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>•Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM): </strong>AVMs can rupture and cause brain bleeding (stroke). This can lead to severe damage, disability, or death. Abnormal blood flow can also harm brain tissue and cause fits or cognitive changes.<br>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>•Trigeminal Neuralgia:</strong> Not deadly, but causes extreme pain. This pain is debilitating. It greatly affects the quality of life and mental health.</p>

<h3><br>Symptoms<br>&nbsp;</h3><p><strong>•Brain Aneurysm: </strong>Often no symptoms until it bursts. If unruptured, symptoms can be headaches, nausea, blurry vision, or memory issues. A burst aneurysm causes a sudden, severe headache ("thunderclap"). Other signs include weak limbs, confusion, speech trouble, loss of balance, or unconsciousness. A small leak might cause milder symptoms first.<br>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>•Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM): </strong>Many have no symptoms until they bleed. When symptoms appear, they can include headaches, seizures, muscle weakness, numbness, vision problems, or speech difficulty. Symptoms depend on the AVM's location.<br>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>•Trigeminal Neuralgia:</strong> Sudden, sharp, electric shock-like facial pain. Triggers include touch, chewing, brushing teeth, shaving or talking. Pain is usually on one side. It comes in short bursts.<br><br><strong>Causes</strong><br>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>•Brain Aneurysm</strong>: The Exact causes are unknown. High blood pressure, smoking, heavy drinking, and drug use are risk factors. Some genetic conditions also increase risk.<br>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>•Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM):</strong> Usually present from birth. Caused by errors in fetal blood vessel development. Symptoms may appear later in life.<br>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>•Trigeminal Neuralgia:</strong> Most often, a blood vessel presses on the trigeminal nerve. Tumours or conditions like multiple sclerosis can also be causes.</p><h2>Treatment Options and Treatability</h2><p><strong>All three conditions are treatable.</strong><br>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>•Brain Aneurysm: </strong>The main goal is to stop or prevent bleeding. Options include open surgery (clipping), endovascular coiling, or flow diverters. Highly treatable if found before rupture. A ruptured aneurysm has high risks. Lifelong monitoring may be needed.</p><p><br><strong>•Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM): </strong>The Aim is to remove the AVM and prevent rupture. Options include surgical removal, embolisation (blocking blood flow), or stereotactic radiosurgery. Treatable, depending on the AVM's features.</p><p><br><strong>•Trigeminal Neuralgia: </strong>Focuses on pain relief. Medications (e.g., &nbsp;certain anticonvulsants) are common. Surgical options include microvascular decompression (MVD) to relieve nerve pressure. Other procedures damage nerve fibres to block pain. Stereotactic radiosurgery also helps. Highly treatable, with many options for pain control.</p><p><br>Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial in managing neurological conditions or any life-altering conditions. Prioritising your brain through a healthy lifestyle, managing blood pressure, and avoiding smoking and alcohol can significantly contribute to a healthier brain. Being proactive and well informed are the first steps towards protecting your vital organs.</p><p><br><i>(Dr Sunil V Furtado, Senior Consultant and Head, Department of Neurosurgery, Ramaiah Institute of Neurosciences, Ramaiah Memorial Hospital, Bengaluru.)</i></p>

Salman Khan recently made an appearance on the new season of The Great Indian Kapil Show, where he opened up about his serious health struggles.

Salman Khan is one of those Bollywood superstars who prefers to stay away from the media spotlight and keeps his personal life private. However, he recently made an appearance on the new season of The Great Indian Kapil Show, where he opened up about his serious health struggles. In the episode that was released on Netflix, the 59-year-old actor disclosed that he has a brain aneurysm, an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and trigeminal neuralgia. "I'm out here breaking my bones every day - ribs are fractured, I'm working despite having trigeminal neuralgia, there's an aneurysm in the brain, yet I'm still working. There is also an AV malformation, and still, I'm carrying on," he said. A brain aneurysm, arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and trigeminal neuralgia are serious neurological disorders that can be difficult for a layman to understand. To help understand these conditions, WION took insights from Dr. Sunil V Furtado, who provided an in-depth explanation of each disorder and its potential effects. What are Brain Aneurysm, AVM, and Trigeminal Neuralgia? The brain, the body's central control system, is both resilient and susceptible to a range of conditions that can drastically alter the course of a person’s life. Among these are brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), and trigeminal neuralgia, each different in nature but sharing the potential to cause severe consequences if left untreated or not diagnosed on time. Brain Aneurysm: A brain aneurysm is a weak spot in a blood vessel in the brain, bulging out like a tiny balloon. This "outpouching" can bleed devastatingly in the brain or can put pressure on surrounding nerves or brain tissue. Most aneurysms occur in the Circle of Willis, a network of arteries at the base of the brain. Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM): An AVM is a tangle of abnormal blood vessels in the brain where arteries connect directly to veins, bypassing the crucial capillaries. This direct connection leads to high-pressure blood flowing into veins not designed to handle it, increasing the risk of bleeding. Trigeminal Neuralgia: This is a chronic pain condition affecting the trigeminal nerve, which carries sensation from your face to your brain. It's characterised by sudden, severe, electric shock-like pain, usually on one side of the face. How Dangerous Are They? • Brain Aneurysm: A ruptured aneurysm is life-threatening. One-third of people die immediately. Survivors often have severe brain damage. Unruptured ones can also cause problems. •Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM): AVMs can rupture and cause brain bleeding (stroke). This can lead to severe damage, disability, or death. Abnormal blood flow can also harm brain tissue and cause fits or cognitive changes. •Trigeminal Neuralgia: Not deadly, but causes extreme pain. This pain is debilitating. It greatly affects the quality of life and mental health.

They breathe life into the slightly preachy and predictable plot with humour and genuine emotions. While Bollywood actors like Priyanka Chopra, Shah Rukh Khan, and Kalki Koechlin have played especially abled characters in the past, no one has brought authenticity to these characters as much as these new actors have. Full marks to the makers, for casting them instead of trying regular, known faces in these roles.&nbsp;<i>Sitaare Zameen Par s</i>hines because of this bunch of actors,” wrote Sen in her review.&nbsp;</p>
