According to reports, Mazonakis suffered a cardiac arrest at a private medical clinic in Kolonaki, Athens. He had visited the stem cell clinic on Karneadou Street in Kolonaki for a scheduled medical treatment.

According to the hospital’s official statement, Mazonakis was formally pronounced dead at 5:40 p.m.
“On 9/9/2026 at 4:45 p.m., Giorgos Mazonakis, born in 1972, was transferred by EKAB ambulance without spontaneous breathing and without a pulse,” the hospital said, as per Greek city time.
According to a Greek media report, Mazonakis visited the stem cell clinic on Karneadou Street in Kolonaki for a scheduled medical treatment, and he suffered cardiac arrest after an intravenous catheter was inserted. He was taken to the hospital with continued CPR. It has also been said that the singer suffered serious pain before the cardiac arrest.
The visit on Wednesday came a day after his initial appointment at the clinic, with the treatment scheduled for the following day.
Born in Nikaia in March 1972, near Piraeus, he began singing in the early 1990s and entered the music industry at 20. He rose to fame after PolyGram, now Universal Music, signed him and released his debut album in 1993.
