Bondi Beach in Australia's Sydney, on December 14, faced a tragedy on the occasion of Hanukkah, when the father-son duo Sajid Akram and Naveed Akram unleashed mayhem in a gun attack, leaving 16 people dead and injuring 42 others. Hollywood stars, including Gal Gadot, Rebel Wilson, Ashton Kutcher, and others, have expressed shock and grief over the terror attack.

Israeli actress Gal Gadot addressed the tragedy in a lengthy note, "My heart is shattered. Following the antisemitic terror attack in Bondi Beach, Australia, the grief is immense. Fifteen innocent souls—including a Holocaust survivor, a rabbi, and a child—were senselessly murdered while celebrating the first night of Chanukah, the Festival of Light."
She further wrote, "This darkness deliberately struck at a sacred moment of community and hope. It is easy to feel defeated. But let us be clear: our strength is not in despair but in the light we fiercely choose to create in this terrible void. We must honour the victims not with silence, but by demanding a world where every life is safe and by choosing empathy and unity above all else. Send light into the darkness. Let's make sure love is the loudest voice. I will light my Chanukah candle tonight in their honour and for a world of light. Only light. Gal Gadot."

Actor Ashton Kutcher took to X to express his view in regard to the attack. He wrote, “Antisemitic rhetoric is not abstract—it carries a cost, and my brothers and sisters continue to pay it. May this devastation somehow spark a hidden miracle, one our eyes do not yet have the merit to see.”
Actress Mandy Moore wrote, "On the first night of Hanukkah and in a country with very strict gun control laws. Absolutely devastating. My heart is with all my Jewish friends around the world."
Australian actress Rebel Wilson, best known for her role in the Pitch Perfect franchise, took to her Instagram story and wrote, “Just waking up to the news about what's happened on Bondi Beach. An absolute tragedy that is the most un-Australian thing to have happened. We shouldn't have gun violence in Australia; we shouldn't have antisemitism—it's not us! Thinking of everyone affected by this devastating violence.”
All about Bondi Beach terror shooting
An improvised explosive device was reportedly found in a car associated with the attack, meaning the planned damage may have been bigger. It is being investigated as a terrorist incident with a motive of antisemitism. The shooting on Sunday, December 14, is probably the largest attack targeting the Jewish festival in recent memory.
Several witnesses said police vehicles began converging on the beachfront at about 6.40pm. Multiple gunshots rang out as crowds fled the area around Campbell Parade. Video footage circulating later showed at least two men dressed in black firing what appeared to be rifles from a pedestrian bridge connecting Campbell Parade to the Bondi Pavilion.
