Afghanistan needed 13 off last six balls against South Africa in Ahmedabad on Wednesday (Feb 11) during the T20 World Cup 2026 Group D match but went on to lost the game after two super overs. In the last over of regulation innings, Rabad started with a no-ball and a wide to bring the equation down to 11 off 6. A six came between two dot balls, bringing required runs to 5 off three balls. With just one wicket in hand, Afghanistan got another no-ball and ran two runs, bringing the equation down to 2 off three balls. Noor Ahmed then hit the free-hit to long off, scampered back for a double but Fazalhaq Farooqi was short of his crease at non-strike and a run out was given - only way to take a wicket on a free-hit. The scores were level at 187 and the match went into super over, only for more drama.

Also Read - T20 WC 2026: de Kock tops ABD in run-scoring for SA in T20 WCs

AFG vs SA, Super Over 1

Afghanistan batted first with Azmatullah and Gurbaz at the crease while Ngidi bowled for South Africa.
AFG vs SA, Super Over 2

South Africa batted first this time, Azmatullah bowled to Stubbs and Miller - the duo scored 23 runs, thanks to three sixes and two doubles. In reply, Afghnistan sent Nabi and Gurbaz to bat and the former missed the first ball by spinner Keshav Maharaj before being out on second. Needing 24 off last four balls, Gurbaz smashed three back-to-back sixes as Afghans dared to do impossible. Maharaj then bowled a wide and the equation came to 5 off 1, a four would have gotten the match into the third super over but alas, Gurbaz got out and the match ended in SA's favour - somehow.

SA - 23/0

Ball 1 (Azmat to Stubbs) - 6 Runs

Ball 2 (Azmat to Stubbs) - 1 Run

Ball 3 (Azmat to Miller) - 2 Runs

Ball 4 (Azmat to Miller) - 6 Runs

Ball 5 (Azmat to Miller) - 6 Runs

Ball 6 (Azmat to Miller) - 2 Runs

AFG - 19/2

Ball 1 (Maharaj to Nabi) - DOT

Ball 2 (Maharaj to Nabi) - WICKET

Ball 3 (Maharaj to Gurbaz) - 6 Runs

Ball 4 (Maharaj to Gurbaz) - 6 Runs

Ball 5 (Maharaj to Gurbaz) - 6 Runs

Ball 6 (Maharaj to Gurbaz) - WIDE

Ball 6 (Maharaj to Gurbaz) - WICKET

Gurbaz smashed three back-to-back sixes as Afghans dared to do impossible. Maharaj then bowled a wide and the equation came to 5 off 1, a four would have gotten the match into the third super over but alas, Gurbaz got out and the match ended in SA's favour - somehow.

Bangladesh sports advisor blames non-particiaption on BCB, players "There is no question of regret [at being excluded from the World Cup]," Nazrul said at a media conference. "This decision was taken by the BCB and the players as they made sacrifices for the safety of the country's cricket, the safety of the people and to protect national dignity." The ICC, after many rounds of discussions, has decided to not levy any penalties on Bangladesh for missing the T20 World Cup 2026 as well as giving them hosting rights of one ICC event between 2028 to 2031, subjcet to conditions. "This is a brilliant achievement. I salute the Bangladesh Cricket Board." Why Bangladesh did not play in T20 World Cup 2026 Bangladesh cited safety concerns for players and demanded their matches in T20 World Cup 2026 outside India - the co-host of the tournament along with Sri Lanka. The ICC rejected the demand to shift the matches to Sri Lanka or any other venue citing logistical issues. Bangladesh, however, remained firm on their demand and were eventually replaced by Scotland in the tournament. Apart from Bangladesh, only Pakistan had supported their decision at the ICC meeting. After Bangladesh's replacement, Pakistan announced boycott of India match on Feb 15 before going back on their decision.

Ahead of the T20 World Cup match between England and West Indies, here’s all you need to know about both sides, including live streaming, broadcast details, squads and other key information.

West Indies will play their second match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 against England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday (Feb 11). Both teams won their opening games, but this match will be their first big encounter of the tournament, as England and West Indies are strong sides in T20 cricket. At the moment, West Indies are on top of Group C with two points and a strong net run rate of +1.750. England are placed third with two points and a net run rate of +0.200. Both teams like to play attacking cricket, but smart planning will be key to winning this important match. So far, England have struggled in international cricket for some time and although they have a chance to turn things around, their performance against Nepal did not show much improvement. On the other hand, West Indies have been getting better with each game and look well placed to beat England in Mumbai. Praising the former Kiwi gloveman as 'as sharp a coach he’s worked with', Buttler welcomed McCullum’s more hands-on and proactive coaching approach, the glimpses of which were on display during the Nepal tie.

Former England captain and seasoned T20 batter, Jos Buttler, has thrown weight behind under-fire team coach Brendon McCullum, who is desperate for success at the ongoing T20 World Cup. Praising the former Kiwi gloveman as 'as sharp a coach he’s worked with', Buttler welcomed McCullum’s more hands-on and proactive coaching approach, the glimpses of which were on display during the Nepal tie. England coach McCullum was accused of allowing a drinking culture in the camp, which led to embarrassment for a few players on the torrid Ashes tour Down Under, let alone considering Harry Brook’s Wellington nightclub episode, for which he had to issue a public apology later. Meanwhile, against Nepal in England’s tournament opener, McCullum was seen using a walkie-talkie to communicate with his players during a drinks break, with Buttler welcoming this approach.
