Former India captain Virat Kohli got a warm reception on Monday (Jul 29) evening after he arrived at the Colombo International Airport. Virat, who will play in the three-match ODI series was in the United Kingdom after helping India win the T20 World Cup in the West Indies in June. He got a warm reception from the fans as he arrived in Colombo as India gets ready for the ODI series which starts on Friday (Aug 2).

Virat arrives in Colombo

One of the fan favourites in Sri Lanka, the legendary India batter was seen flaunting at the airport as he gets ready for his first international assignment after the T20 World Cup success. He was seen wearing a white T-shirt with a bag and a suitcase while listening to music on his phone. He would stay calm and composed despite fans getting closer to him. He would then escape the airport for the team hotel as India gets ready for another series of success.

The upcoming ODI series will be crucial for Virat and other senior players as India prepare for the 2025 Champions Trophy. The series also marks the first time Virat and head coach Gautam Gambhir will share the dressing room having had a rich history of spats during the Indian Premier League. The former India skipper announced his retirement from the T20I format after the World Cup but is still an important part of the ODI and Test set-up.

Over the weekend, captain Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul also arrived in Sri Lanka as the Men in Blue put together a strong squad for the series. India will be expected to win the series 3-0 and start preparations for the Champions Trophy which is set to take place in February and March. India under Rohit and Virat will be favourites to win the tournament while suspense still surrounds where the competition will take place.
