With less than 24 hours to go before the start of the first Test match against Bangladesh, Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were seen engaged in a funny banter. Speaking to the Board of Control for Cricket India’s (BCCI) social media channel, the duo rolled back memories from their playing days. However, it was Gambhir’s funny jibe at Virat that caught the attention of the netizens.
"When you're batting and you have a bit of a chat with the opposition, did you ever feel like this might carry on to you going out of the zone and potentially getting out, or did it put you in a more motivated space?" Kohli inquired.
"You had more altercations than I have. You can answer that question better than I can,” Gambhir countered Kohli on being inquired.
The duo of Gambhir-Kohli will work together for the first time in the Test format from the Bangladesh series which starts on Thursday (Sep 19). The contest in Chennai will be vital for India in the World Test Championship (WTC) final run. Both Kohli and Gambhir shared dressing rooms during the latter’s playing days and have also clashed occasionally during the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Famously the duo had a heated altercation during the IPL 2023 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants.
